Issues with long Lamms

  • My Macomber is an older 1940-something 40" loom with 10 harnesses. I have replaced a number of items, including wires that go from the lamms up to the harnesses so the harnesses will lift appropriately. Unfortunately, there is still a little quirk that I have yet to be able to fix, and I'm not sure I ever can. The lamms are long. So when I press down on a treadle on the far side of a lamm, it doesn't lift the OTHER side of the harness as high as the side I am pressing on. This video shows you that fun little quirk and how I deal with it.
Every loom is different - even the exact same make and model, so every loom will have a quirk or two. Your job is to figure out what that quirk is going to be and then to work around it. Have fun!
