Indeed, The only time that pot of greed will not be good is if they make better cards and they become standard. Every single deck in the entire game would run it at max . Maybe a few whose engine is too big to fit It wouldn't but that is the only exception

A small note on the Barrier Statue and Eradicating Aerosol: DIVINE is in all caps because it’s an attribute (like how Blue-Eyes is a LIGHT monster) but Insect is in normal caps because it’s a creature type (like how Blue-Eyes is a Dragon)
he means divine-beast which is a creature type.
but INSECTS should be all cap aswell

I think the confusion probably comes from their being a DIVINE attribute and a Divine-Beast type. If you don't realise they both exist, and that attributes are all caps, it would look out of place.

Pot of Egotism as a name makes sense to me. The card is so self absorbed that it demands you only play Pot of Egotism for the rest of the duel, and no other spells.

@@VVheeli There's a reason for Dark Witch being a LIGHT Fairy... the TCG chose a HORRIBLE name, and this seemed to happen a lot in the early days. The OCG name for the card is Valkyrie! Same with Dunames Dark Witch (Dunamis Valkyria in OCG) whose 3 "retrains" all used Valkyria in their names (Dark Valkyria, Chaos Valkyria and Power Angel Valkyria).

[10:55] For those who are still confused as to how the hell this is supposed to work: It's a linear equation in the form of (Y = M*X + B).
B is the number of cards your opponent controls, M is the level of the chosen monster, Y is the number of cards in your graveyard, and X is the number you declared.
If you activate this card and declare an "X" such that (Y = M*X + B) _is a true statement,_ you're greatly rewarded for it. If you did your math wrong, you lose Life Points.
This is absolutely one of my favorite "joke cards" in all of Yu-Gi-Oh's history, because of just how absurd the premise is.

Props to anyone who can bait their opponent into dropping D.D. Crow by activating this card when your Y is 1 too high. I imagine it can be done simply based off people not wanting to do the maths and assuming you already did.
1) the chances of having M and X such that the equation becomes correct is absurd

Interesting you didn't mention the Castle of Dark Illusions' stats. Usually ATK and DEF end with "00", sometimes with "50", there's a very few cards that end with a different number. Because of that, you could immediately think this card's fake.

Drawing means you draw from the TOP OF YOUR DECK FACE DOWN.
What maxx c does is ADD a card which means you get to look at the cards in your deck and choose one no matter where it is in the deck.
5:14 They didn't mess up the text of Eradicating Aerosol. Monster TYPES are written with the first letter of each word capitalized (Insect, Pyro, Beast-Warrior, etc.), but Monster ATTRIBUTES have the entire word capitalized (FIRE, WATER, DIVINE, etc.). The cards are consistent.

@@GRtogetaBIC people did do this, obviously if you have the removal they would get a dq or warning, but im pretty sure people would get away with it if they didn't reveal sets upon winning. I guess maybe you could ask a judge to check but that would give away info
@@GRtogetaBICHell I did this. Though I was a little kid and just played against my brother when I was young.
As for the cheat thing. In tournaments, whenever they would be forced to show their Backrow, players would just INSTANTLY scoop instead so the cheating wouldn’t be found out. And while you can claim this makes cheating obvious, they’ll still have benefit of the doubt thanks to cards not actually being revealed and thus won’t be disqualified.
Notes on the card bonfire, the original card name of the card is 篝火, and 篝火 can be translated into 2 similar meanings, one of that is similar to bonfire, and the other one is basically torches that fixed on wall. The word 篝 means the container made by iron stripes and 火 translate to fire. This is why the card art looks so confusing
And technically the object used is a fire BASKET. Which is a type of bonfire-esque object used in warfare to light arrows and other projectiles on fire without having to carry a torch and do it one at a time
Pot of egotism doesnt exist, however, the card art actually exists in rush duel. Its called pot of arrogance
The English name for that card isn't official, since it's a Rush Duel card. Technically this is a valid translation of the Japanese. The effect is very similar too, except the Rush Duel card only prevents spells for the rest of the turn, not the duel.
Sekkas light is a better example in the original game

One thing I love about the LSD-trip-type card design of konami is the weird micro-stories they create, they create some random ass creature and then add interactions and situations that would fit in that microcosm - I was 100% sure Negotiating with the C was real lmao, the artwork is really sick too

These videos could be more interesting if they had some specific theme. Like only show cards for one archetype, or focus on all the pot cards, all the twister variations. That would make the game a little more playable since there would be context around the cards

Not every deck, for the same reason decks don't all play 3 Upstart Goblin. For meta archetypes that have abundant fuel, you'd rather see a hand trap going turn 2.

Most decks in master duel still run 3 maxx c which at worst is an upstart and turn skip against most decks. To say pot of greed wouldn’t be meta is crazy.
@@shadowstep1375 Nope, you want handtraps as your turn 0 draw 5. They work as interruption which can potentially prevent your opponent from going +10. Way better than +2. TCG and MD is still catching up to the OCGs meta, so first vs second turn is still important. You'd also prefer Maxx C on hand when forced to go second. It's a hand trap not a deck trap.

There’s no argument you can have that makes not getting free cards viable. Every other pot is limited or banned in someway in every format. One without any negatives will be in every deck hands down.
@@Ricozaza It's very easy to argue from a qualifying position against definitive statements like 'every deck' or 'any downsides' and 'no argument'. I just need one single example and your statements become false.
For one deck example, even without mentioning some gimmick archetype, there are no banlist tournaments where half the decklists and usually the winner will not include pot in favor of more handtraps. Tear cards for example go for above +2 anyway so you'd rather mill one of those. So I can argue that pot wouldnt be in atleast one deck. That's one of your statements that's false.
For downsides or negatives, understand that pot needs to be played on your turn in order to draw a handtrap. If you go second, pot is a temperory dead card. A downside over live handtraps. More so if your opponent setup a spell negate. So that's one argument, downside, and negative, so those statements have become false.
For pots being banned, other cards like change of heart have been unbanned. So cards being banned does not conclude that a card will be in 'every' deck if unbanned. The limited pots aren't in every deck, so that's not part of the logic either. In fact many bans is to stop specific archetypes from becoming too strong. Sky Striker would benefit alot from multiple cycling pots and jars. Maxx C for example is not banned in all formats despite benefiting 'most' decks. So that's another statement proven false.
Your final conclusion built on earlier false statement is therefore also false.
Mischief of the Time Goddess actually debuted in the anime in the mid 2000s but it wasn't made real until much later. In fact, in recent years they have tried to make a lot anime-only cards real or to upgrade old archetypes.
I actually run a Valk deck in MD and enjoy the consistency of Time Goddess. It helps out twice too since
1) Valks have hopt effects so skipping to the next turn lets you use their effects again
2) skipping phases let’s you bypass effects that proc those phases, such as that “summon valks from your hand, at the end phase shuffle all monsters into your deck” or DPEs standby phase rez.
Anime cards coming to the real game always makes me happy.

To clarify on eradicating aerosol: Yes, insects (specifically parasite paranoid and perfectly ultimate great moth) were definitely broken in speed duels. For a very long time actually, even through a skill errata

So about the difference between Aerosol and the Barrier Statue: Completely normal. Attributes are always written in all caps, while types only have the first letter capitalized

Playing it alongside other spells would be awkward for the possibility of drawing said other spells off it, but the option is certainly nice - and as you point out, drawing exactly 1 unplayable spell after activating Egotism essentially makes Egotism into Upstart, which isn't horrible. SL has its GY effect, Egotism has no Trap lock. Those are the main benifits of the cards. They simply belong in different decks - monster pile for SL, traps with Egotism (and you can arguably pair it with some spells). I would not call either better than the other, because the one that sees more play would always be cardpool/metagame dependant. That said, I do see the argument for calling Egotism better in a vacuum.

I literally had to stand up and take a moment to take in what I just heard after Stevie said that a card called "Linear Equation Cannon" with that monstrosity of a card effect is actually unironically a Yu-Gi-Oh card.
Also my thought process for "Weather Report" was about like this: "This art is so incredibly obviously fake that is has to be a real card with 100% certainty".
If my memory's right, Castle of Dark Illusions has such weird stats due to a gimmick in the manga, where "terrain advantage" boosted attack and defense by, like, 30% or a weird number like that.

Early Yugioh wasn't really concerned about the actual rules of the game. The focus was on putting Yugi in a seemingly unwinnable situation only for him to find a creative solution at the last moment. Yugi was originally going to play a variety of games aswell so the writers didn't find it time effective to write a comprehensive list of rules for a game that was only going to be played for a couple of episodes. Dungeon Dice Monsters is a good example of how each game was going to have it's own rules and be it's own self contained story.

You are correct. This specific Field Bonus wasn’t in the manga. Castle had 4/1200/2500 stats in the manga. This applies to his other monsters, too in similar fashion.

But yeah, Konami is definitely down with Pot of Greed coming back to 1. Good line of thinking Stevie. Drawing cards just ain't that good.
The argument against pot of greed, is mostly that there is no reason to not play pot of greed. There are plenty of cards in yu-gi-oh that are straight +1 without any real drawback, but they at least require building a deck in a specific way to get the full benefit.

Stevie smoking something saying Pot of Greed isnt the best card. Its free card advantage in a game where cards are basically the only resource. It helps basically reduce your deck size, which is huge in yugioh
things like Magical Scientist warp formats a lot more, yeah Pot of Greed is free upside, but so is Scientist except the upside is "win the game"

@@moonsalibi graceful charity. The downside of discarding 2 isn't really a downside nowadays. MAXX C is also better than PoG. And I'm just talking about generic cards. Like DJFracus said cards like scientist would completely break the game. There are are cards on the banlist that can never comeback cause they are to broken. Pot of greed doesn't break the game.

Yugioh is such a weirdly designed game that once you've seen a decent amount of cards you realise that literally anything could be real. Crazy OP effect? possible. HORRIBLE effect? possible. Art style seems super weird? Possible. Super inconsistent literally everything? Possible.
Yugioh is one of the most insane games from a design pov. It's genuinely funny.

If I remember correctly, there were cards that could turn enemy monsters into insects, which is why Aerosol was a used card.
It was also an early era generic wipe card. Where stuff like field spells that boost one Attribute, and every single Monster Type had a field wipe.
Like the Witch’s Strike or that one fiend one.

Town twister sounds like a really fun tech card. Especially if you can target S/T anywhere on the field and then be able to destroy a monster on the other side in the same column. Though there are ofc better options that do sth similar

Fun fact about weather report. It actually broke the game at one point because it was the first card printed that gave you two battle phases in a turn. This is the reason why every card that has battle phase effects has to denote whether or not you can use its effect in each battle phase of your turn.
The fact that Linear Equation Cannon can straight up "sudoku" you is hilarious.
The main thing I learned from this video is that I want Negotiating with the "C" to be a real cards, even if it has a different effect

@@amethonys2798 To be fair, system down did came out in the GX era, unlike most of those early typing tech cards they printed, puppet plant is another tech card that was interesting and had a nice niche in the Duelist Alliance Era

I suspected Negotiating with the "C" was fake since it didn't capitalize "special summon". Same goes for Barrier Statue of the Creator.
I knew barrier statue was fake only because the Divine attribute and Divine Beast monster type are only reserved for the “God” cards and only I think like 10 monsters have the “Divine” attribute
Actually? Pot of Egotism would be busted. Its not a worse version of Sekkas Light per se. Its missin some lot points
1. You can use Spellcards prior to the activation (and have dem in GY) You can just drop this at the end and Draw 2.
2. You can still use Spell effects under this card. Sekkas light prevents activation and effects of Spell cards

Castle of Dark Illusions is one of the OG cards. I remember when you could use a Catapult Turtle to launch a monster at it's levitation ring to make it fall, but not before your own Swords of Revealing Light expired. Of course, they couldn't print all those cool interactions on the cards, you just had to know they worked like that.
Edit: "Town Twister"'s [Spell Card] tag was misaligned, otherwise it would probably be a real card.
They did that with Phantom Hand too, so it’s not a good measure. I saw that with Town Twister, then Phantom Hand and I literally threw my hands up in frustration.
i think that's just a bug with the card maker. all of the backrow cards with a type, including the real ones, have that same issue
the real tell with town twister, though, is how its text falls apart as soon as you target a card in a column with two or more monsters

Would love to mention that some cards missed the monster in monster card in their German translation. Just minor oversights that did not affect gameplay in any shape or form I assure you (I mean what difference could it make if you counted only monsters or all cards in a GY)
The fact that neither of them noticed that the quick-play spell icon is half over the words Spell Card and Rarran says "This is the most realistic card you have shown me" Is pure chaos and I love it.
The cards were remade via the fake yugioh card maker to give fake cards a fair chance of looking real.

I agree that Stevie is among the worst yugioh content creators to do these videos with, though I should say that Bonfire is a real card, though it only has an OCG print, as of this year.

I swear, Rarran's interactions with yugioh, so far, were a trifecta of bad experiences. First, you have Stevie, who put the idea of "if it doesn't say win the game, it's not a good card" into Rarran's head, which is objectively wrong. The cards that Stevie brings to Rarran to guess, have been getting worse in terms of choice. Not to mention that, when Rarran has an actual question, Stevie is like "ignore that" or "don't worry about it" instead of actually answering the question. Then he played Master Duel, which is one of the worst things that Konami ever released and shows how badly they chose their priorities as a company. And finally was the "debate" with Farfa, in which Farfa seemingly tried to have a conversation for half of the time, only to starts being toxic and clowning on Rarran for the second half...
Idk if id say Master Duel is bad buuuuuuuuuuut it is bad at teaching new players which IS bad. If it had a half-way decent tutorial it would be great.
@@BoxWizard the good thing that Master Duel did is it made easier to know what effects your opponent is using (because it highlights them) and maybe it made it easier to follow the board state. But other than that: it's the same outdated tutorial; a solo mode with gimmicky and bad decks, with stories that are there just to be there; there is no match duels, only single duels; because of that, it made a completely new format that encourages burn strategies... I could go on about the many things I hate about Master Duel, but I am going to finish with: Since they planned to release it on every platform, they should've made it for new players and people who have never seen the game, not making it so it would be easier for current active players who already understand the game.
