Great idea, trying to come up with a dome that can be used during the summer, to help keep elements out

    Pretty creative
It would have took me about 15 stops to Lowe's or Home Depot
In order to figure out everything I needed. I have a little tip here if you take your old 1 gallon milk jugs/water jugs put you one of them balloons in the center of your pool. Fill the jugs up with water and tie them to The Grommet all the way around the pool I'd say spacing out every 4 ft.
It'll pull weight down on your pool cover and constantly keep pitch

Thanks, I did not think that ANY amount of weight on the outside would account for all the ice and snow that would accumulate on the top with all the leaves too.

Awesome! You gave me a great idea. I think ill buy a ShelterLogic tent and get somewhat d the same effect. Thanks for the video. Excellent idea.

Im tired of fighting a cover full of leaves and a green pool like i have right now. Ive had a similar idea to yours except im gonna build mine lower since we really get very little snow here but ive got tons of trees. Im gonna go about 3 feet higher than the rail using pvc and just make an umbrella that i can dismantle and reuse each year. Hope it works because green pools suck.

This would be great with mosquito netting in the summer 😁

Very interesting. Only question I have is with this construction should you/we add a pool pillow somehow to combat ice expansion? Thanks for the video.

Im interested in that ladder!! Do you have a video for it?

I don’t have a video for it. But I created it from stair risers from Home Depot. To make it steep I made them go the other way than what they were made for. I had a 4x4 post and cut it to fit the top and made a platform. Then just boxed everything in with 2x4 pieces.

To start..I shot you a like and I certainly appreciate your efforts and contributions as well as your ingenuity for the fellow d.i.y.er such as myself.
But I have a question..Why did you decide to go with such height on the construction? I'm only asking out of genuine curiosity as I am currently at the drawing board myself.

Well, I was going with the height like that in case of snow and Ice Build up. I thought that if any lower and the ice/snow would have a chance to become way too heavy for the Tent and collapse and possibly damage the pool. What do you think?

Mine has been damaged two years in a row by ice, snow, falling trees, and tadpoles. I think this shape will help.

How about dry winds? In so cal we get clear skys with heavy winds in winter sometimes. That's when my covers fail and bring alot of dirt and trash in the pool in just one night. Would it work ?

      @tinkerking6785  Před 4 lety

Hmm, I have not experienced that. but I imagine if you have laced tightly the inner and outer tarp so that the coverage is even, and the outer tarp faces the main direction of the wind. Do you know which is the main direction of the wind that hits your area?

So I am working on a pool cover lift for my 24 ft above ground pool. Because it is so annoying to always have to take the cover on and off every day or every time we would swim. So I create a frame to go around the pool. I am just trying to figure out a way to lift it up without putting pole or a bucket inside the pool. And once I lift it up I will b adding misquote net around so we can enjoy the pool when those darn skitters start biting. I was just wondering if u had any recommendations on how to lift the frame.

One thought would to make a covering that the netting or tarps are all attached to say 6-8 framed poles with the apex at the top. And then have them hinged to a 4x4 or something heavy duty. On both sides that you can maneuver to a midway point on both sides of the pool then lift up the first frame pole that will then pull all the other poles that are attached to the cover. And once the first pole is all the way down you should now have a covered structure. Then you can secure it to the ground on both sides. What do you think?
