My reaction to Season 1 Episode 1 of The Glory 더 글로리 . Surprise! Suddenly hearing so many people rave about the new Netflix show "The Glory", I decided to check it out as soon as possible. I'm already a few episodes in now and absolutely loving the ride already. I hope you'll enjoy my reaction to episode 1, where we learn about the backstory of Dong-eun and her sworn mission of taking revenge on Yeon-jin and her friends.

friend I recommend the 'Woo Young-woo', 'Kingdom', and 'Train to Busan'. I'm proud to say that it's the best work of my life.
This is also based on multiple real events which is sad. Bullying is so messed up in korea
Omg! Yes! This drama is masterpiece! The story, the plot, the acting are on another level!
Loved this masterpiece! This revenge drama is not the "typical" revenge story, that's all I can say. This is my very first K drama and damn! I'm not disappointed!
People always get confused with the bullies. Who's who etc. Just remember there are 5 bullies.
Yeon-jin is main bully and married with a daughter.
Sa-ra is the bully hooked on drugs.
Hye-jeong is the flight attendant
Jae-joon is color blind and have anger issues
Myeong-oh has tattoos on his neck
Do-yeong is the husband and a third party.
Thanks for helping out! I think you get used to who's who naturally as you progress through the show. Idk if it would be any easier for Korean people than us outsiders but I think most people would struggle seperating them clearly in the first few episodes.
@@RobinoyoReacts yes, naturally everyone should be able to remember who they are. I just thought I'd put it out there anyways cuz I've seen some reactors still confused 8 episodes in. 😊 You're definitely ahead of some already.
Another revenge k-drama I recommend is "Taxi Driver" (16 episodes long). It's a bit different from the glory in that there are revenge sub-plots each episodes, and it's fast-paced revenge, but at the same time there's an overall plotline. Some of the cases are based on real-life criminal cases that actually took place in South Korea. If I had to summarize it in simple terms; there's an anti-hero who takes revenge on behalf of other people because of what happened to him in the past.
Just a little context. They went to their friend's church (sara because her dad is a pastor and her dad wants sara's friends to come to church) and so they went with no bra wearing white shirt
From my own experience I can say that people love to pick on those who seem weak or don't have a great self confidence. Weirdly enough, everyone around us seemingly can sense if others will stand their ground or not.
My own family abused and mistreated me in horrible ways, and I guess that my former classmates quickly noticed that I was a quiet and introverted/shy kid because of that.
Seven school years of hell... my abusive toxic home etc, and only now, years later as an adult I'm strong enough to overcome it all and live a decent life whithout depression and suicidal thoughts.
It was a long, hard, TOUGH journey.
Through this particular show I'm kind of living out my own revenge fantasies.
I'm glad you're doing better. The best revenge is living well.

This crazy teacher no longer exists in Korea.
It is not Korean culture.
Just a handful of crazy person.
In the past, there were only a handful of such teachers in Korean schools.
Today, assault on teachers is prohibited by law, and, as in the drama, if a teacher assaults a student like that,
He will be fired from school and go to jail.
I realize I said that with a serious face but I actually meant that jokingly. I did not actually expect that to be normal or anything in South Korea don't worry! haha
I'm watching the main bully actress on another drama called The Secret Romantic Guesthouse right now. She is so likable on that drama so she doesn't scare me anymore. 😂😅

Lovely I"m excited. I gobbled it all up. Recommendation if you are not familiar with the naming conventions in South Korea, it's ok if you take notes, rewind or rewatch in between episodes because I am sad to say that I got confused with the names and who's who until like the 3rd episode. A lot falls into place but yeah it's one of those shows that have a lot of details that will blow your mind.
Yeah I'm 4 eps in already but I'm gonna do that now that you mention it. Might definitely help to memorize the names for when they get brought up in conversation. This show sure has been a challenge in terms of keeping up with all the characters and storylines haha
Unfortunately, getting revenge would always come with casualties and unforeseen victims.

These kids are sick and I doubt they ever regret what they did later on as adults. They enjoyed torturing that girl. But justice is coming!

Similar to Scientology in U.S, South Korea are having similar trouble in handling the cult as well since the law guarantee the freedom of religious without definiting properly what is the correct criteria of a religious.
So you can see two of those bullies are respectively heir to a shaman place and a church (which might not be the decent christian or catholic church). So no wonder those bullies are rich, powerful and resourceful but malicious in their nature due to their growing environment.
