Possibly one of the greatest entrances to a scene ever when he comes through that mirror. It's just unbelievable and so striking still 35 years later. I actually saw this movie in the theatre when it came out 1985 and it holds up I mean I own it on DVD I adore it I own the soundtrack and it's just 1 of those films that no matter how many times I watch it I still love it. I heard a quote once when I was a child that has stayed with me: “Sometimes even the devil deserves a LITTLE pity.” That certainly holds true in “Legend” if you stop and think about it. The devil in this particular case is a victim of Fate. He was BORN like this, he wasn’t made like this! He didn’t choose to look like that; who willingly chooses to be ugly? What’s more, he said himself, “Sunlight is my destruction!” So, for him, evil isn’t a choice, it’s a necessity. In a way, he’s just like all the other unfortunate people suffering from xendoderma pigmentosum, one of the original sources for the vampire curse--a potentially FATAL condition triggered by exposure to sunlight. Imagine seeing so much beauty linked to a spring/summer/fall/winter day, but never getting to share in it, because if you do, it’ll most likely be your last day alive. Wouldn’t that make you sad and mad? Also, when Darkness goes and allows himself to fall in love--possibly for the very first time ever in his life--what happens? The woman he loves fears and loathes him! What’s more, she uses his feelings for her to get close enough to the unicorn to free it, thereby all but guaranteeing Darkness’ death! First heartbreaks are the worst, especially for those who’ve never gotten to know the sweetness of love before! Anyway, I’ve said my peace, and will welcome any feedback for it. It can be an official debate thing.

Pazuzu isn't just from The Exorcist. He's one of The Old Gods. In ancient Mesopotamian religion, Pazuzu was the king of the demons of the wind, brother of Humbaba and son of the god Hanbi. He also represented the southwestern wind, the bearer of storms and drought. One of the main reasons hollywood screenwriters are hooked on him is because they can use the line "older than recorded history" and technically still have it be true, the invention of the written word wouldn't be around for a few more centuries and he was so frightening he would scare off all other demons.

Maybe that's what actually Pazuzu's meant there, as something quite more threathening than Darkness himself, luring somehow behind what could have be seen on screen!

    I'm going to tell you....RIGHT....NOW.
As of 2020, I *STILL* watch this movie whenever it comes on cable, I was a lover of fantasy & science fiction THEN and love it NOW. Legend, Labyrinth, & Ladyhawke [the 3 L's], The Company of Wolves and Neverending Story... those are my childhood and they told a STORY, the way stories are told in books.
I, honestly, miss watching movies where sets *were built* and everything wasn't dependent on CGI and constant green screen!

I went to see Legend in 1986. I loved it. I have seen two of the cuts. I enjoyed both for different reasons.
I still quote from time to time "Mother night... fold your dark arms about me."
    Thanks for doing this video.

I love this movie. Never saw the theatrical release but watched it on cable & TV every time it aired. I've seen 2 of the different versions & have both soundtracks on cd I believe. Would love to find the directors cut. People familiar with folklore/mythology & classic fantasy know what the story is, the visuals take you to an actual enchanted fairyland & that's why we love it 🧚‍♂️🧚‍♀️🦄

Legend (in MY opinion) is one of the most beautiful movies ever filmed. The visuals are AMAZING to me, and, just as you said, watching it makes you feel as if you are IN a fantasy world. Beautifully filmed, indeed.
