    Hi Mikael!
    I am a trucker from Sweden and follow you. You have problem with winter like we have. Instead of chain on the wheels, we have "on-spot" air pressed chain, you can use it when you need it. I can recomment it.

      @@propellerbum5098 pretty sure they have vhf or uhf radios in the trucks …for sure they do in the tractors and combines. Might not work in that valley depending on where they are relative to each other and the terrain.

    Hey mike, get some high end halogen bulbs for the headlights, they are ample enough for low beams, but look into investing in some LED light bars as extra high heams! Makes a huge difference when you get two that range around 200-300€ each.

    Mike, you really should try mountain hauling out west, perhaps a few log hauls off the top of our BC coastal mountains would be a great experience for you.

    I tell you what Mike, That almost looks like a good time. I ran allot of passes running cows and Hay. Willemite pass in Oregon, if you needed chains, You needed chains. Donner pass in California. Some days yes, some days no. They still made you chain for the wet pavement. In Nevada. Could be 10 foot of snow, Chain advisory possible.

    My most horrible trip was on ice. John Deere 7920 pulling 2 trailers full of straw at around 37t and no weight on the tractor🤘No plow trucks, on a road with 9% grade and almost as narrow as my tractor😂 I survived, but needed an hour for 3km😂

    2 more things is you need are good siped tires and we carry a couple jugs of cat litter to help if you spun out we also carry tire socks with studs on them with a jack you can throw them on real quick to get you up the mountain

      We put true cooper rm 258 M&S severe weather drive tires on made 1000 percent difference those tires are unreal.

    Mike put your chains on top of your tires hook the back drive ahead 5 feet go out and hook the front then re hook the back chain as it will be a bit loose .Good luck drive safe

    In Europe we have trucks with 770hp and 3500 torque. We use automatic snow chains when it gets slippery.

    There's surprisingly low horsepower in the Canadian/US trucks compared to European trucks. Volvo's got 750hp in their and Scania has 770hp/3700Nm in theirs. Over here in Finland we got a max weight of 76.000KG loaded weight (+10% overweight) on the trucks, depending on nr. of axles ofc. Timber running trucks use chains most of the time on smaller roads during winter time because it wouldn't work without them.

      I never understood the reason for euro trucks to run 750Hp… like we have 500 to 600Hp and that’s more than adequate to pull 80,000lbs up a mountain. It’s not like Europe has different terrain than here in the US or Canada. Lol I’m not banging on them I just don’t see the point?? Why not be more efficient???

      On the one hand, in Central and Northern Europe we try to build our houses as energy-efficient as possible, which goes as far as passive houses, which do not require any heating energy. On the other hand, we blow the energy out in powerful trucks. Whereas, as far as cars are concerned, people in Europe are far more economical with their small cars.

      @@crandonborth Well i wonder about that..... Higher horsepower means the engine runs less stress which reduces fuel usage, however when running empty they do use more than a lower hp truck. Also very dependent on how the gearbox operates...

    If it might help... two possibilities, we see a few semi's with sand/grit dispensing boxes ahead of drive wheels, activated from the cab; also... we've seen Onspot automatic chains - look like a slick idea for vehicles that must travel on icy roads...also activated on the go from the cab.

    Chains in snow is good but on ice they also just slide. We had a reefer slide into a snow truck the other day with chains because there was an ice patch in a curve.

    From our farm we have to take the valley on highway 6 between Southey and Regina or take highway 20 to the 11 on the downgrade by Craven if we haul anything south of us (which is most) Nothing but anxiety for me in the winter lol

    We’ve gone thru three sessions of freezing rain,followed by heavy wet snow,then deep freeze. Watching the super Bs hauling grain up the hill meeting super Bs hauling logs down the hill past our farm can get interesting,so far all’s good.

    Try running your fan going downhill if u have a fan button I haul super b wood chips 63500 all the time up and down the coqahalla highway and we run ours going down takes some power out of the engine works great

    Did you ever try demo a European style truck. Don't know if they are available in Canada but hauling loads like that they could be a good option. Volvo do a 750hp and Scania do a 770hp

    Spinning on chains is not terrible once you’ve done it a few times especially in the snow. Spinning chains on in the mud? Not a good time. Ideally as you said put them on before you need them.

      Most radios have an off knob, I know it's a new invention that may have not made it to Canada yet LOL . Big power &torque mean nothing when you can't put to the ground .

      It's an Eaton, and I like it.. But to be fair I have only ever drove Eatons auto/manual transmissions... Oh that's not true, I did drive a Mack MDrive, and hated it 🤷‍♂️😂

      Almost all trucks in Scandinavia have that in front of the drive wheels. And plow trucks has recently started to replace the plow with a big sand spreader in the front of the truck. But that's only when there's no snow and really bad conditions😅

    Here in Iowa where I live the snow plow guys they don't do the hills just like the guy in your video where you need it they don't do it and they don't salt up to the stop lights they sold after the stop lights so that way you slide into the car behind you or ahead of you depends on the circumstances and we had snow Thursday the 15th of December and we had 12 accidents and two deaths already this year people do not realize that they can't stop and like I say them idiots snow plow drivers don't salt up to the stop lights so you have traction to stop it's so stupid around here

    Those lights are rubbish when compared with lights what whe have ex. here in Finland, now with LED bars amount of high beams are ludicrus. On modern European trucks trucks Scania, Volvo with LED light technology visibility is exellent.
