  • this motor home wouldn't start this morning and I had a call asking if I could help.
I diagnosed a faulty plug lead and phoned around to find a set.
euro car parts helped by bringing a set of plug leads to a depot closer to where I was.
the van starts now and I have a happy customer.

Another great video Matt. I've been self employed as a mobile/workshop based mechanic for nearly 10 years. I still get a buzz out of earning money for me, not for someone else. Good luck.

Go to all the local caravan parks. you will be surprised how many want lights put right on trailers vans 12v socket . Easy to learn the colours. I've been on my own 30 years no regrets.

Thanks for the video, nice old school diag, I'm sure you will build up a fantastic customer base over time with the quality work you put out, congratulations and cheers from aus 🤙

Nice job Matt, hope the new mobile venture goes well. The customer base will build and as you do such a great job, they will come back and tell their friends too! My grandad and his bros had a mobile home tuning business. They did really well and he still people calling him well in to retirement!

I never know what I'll be asked to do next, it's nice getting to know the customers, and making sure that they are happy. The hardest thing was finding new parts, Cheers Matt

That horrible feeling when the phone doesn't ring never really goes away, years into it I still worry about my phone not ringing. I'm a big fan of the whole Scanner Danner thing too, very inspiring guy.

He has helped me. Iused to tell other mechanics about him, but they don't want to diagnose, they are happy guessing. Thanks Matt

Relax Matt, anyone who’s any good will be busy. You’ll look back at this soon and laugh while you wish things would ease up a bit! Respect to you for mentioning ECP, they come in for a fair bit of stick in the trade but they definitely have their uses. I once flew from Inverness to look at a Yacht in Eastbourne. Realised quickly I’d need some parts, phoned ECP somewhere near by and said ‘can I use my account down here?’ ‘Sure’ they said, ‘what do you need?’. ‘Two decent 019 batteries and 10 litres of Mobil ESP’, I had them delivered to the Marina 10 mins later. Client was suitably impressed. And Scanner Danner, well what can we say. I hope Paul knows how many of us he’s empowered and inspired all over the world, Legend 👍

There must be a lot of people that are now making a living from diagnostic work because of scanner Danner and he won't know all of us. I watch his premium classes too. Thanks for watching Russell

Matt, once word gets round how good you clearly are, I'm sure you'll be very busy. Would it be worthwhile maybe letting local dealers know of your service in terms of complex diagnostics?

Nice old school approach Matt. I’ll be honest… a little disappointed I didn’t see any “Fonzi” action 🤣

If your good at your job. It's not getting work, it's managing the workload that is the problem

Get yourself a works phone and put the number across the bottom of all your videos you make. Will be lot easier for people to contact you if they break down on route down to Cornwall. Passing trade could be your bread and butter

With diagnostic greetings from Poland👍good job as always👏I watch Scaner Danner too, and I see we use similar tools at work. I am thinking of buying a Smart Hook when I already have an Autel Power Probe,I don't know if it's worth it?…

    • @mechanicmatt871
      @mechanicmatt871  Před 3 lety

I have a power probe 3, and an autell ps100, I found I never used the smart hook, it has some good features although I had other things like injector driver, sensor simulator, decade box, oscilloscopes. I ended up giving my smart hook away because of never using it. Cheers Matt 👍

@@mechanicmatt871 Your video with the Opel engine control unit inspired me to buy the Smart Hook - especially the "latch" function when feeding power. Though the Power Probe by Snap on has these features too. Maybe someday you will make a video about your diagnostic tools and which you recommend. Regards
