This sounds fantastic! I love how open and fun it sounds and that the only pressure is to do better than yourself not someone else sounds great to because that way people can share their progress and ask each other for advice or tips. A very supportive competition!

I've played Ultramarines for 36 years (but i do not have the painting skills to show for it, having just started to push myself in the last decade or so). So, one, yes, blue is lucky, and two, it will be refreshing to paint something that's not blue! I've been trying with some alternate color schemes anyway. Part of the challenge with a totally new pallette is, of course, that it's a totally new pallete. You have to figure out what your complimentary colors will be, what your shading and highlighting colors and techniques will be, how you'll handle unit markings if you are doing something that calls for it....
Hi Juan, This sounds like a lot of fun and I like the judging system where a painter is awarded based on their level achieved as opposed to "competing against other painters, they compete against themselves" ... and in the end, isn't that what getting better and growing is all about :-)

Is there somewhere we can view the full contest rules that doesn't require patreon membership? I like to read and understand everything I'm getting into to make sure I can meet requirements.
There are no rules, ANYTHING can be submitted as long as it's NOT PAINTED beforehand, or barely started.
That's all the rules, no size or number of models limitations. Just submit a picture of your unpainted model/models and you are in.
You can do, historical airplane models, tank models, boats, a diorama, a unit of models, even an army of you so desire. But only one entry and everything will have to painted by the time you submit the final pictures
@JuanHidalgoMiniatures - There have to be rules/details. How/where is submission of unpainted minis to take place? Are progress photos allowed? What is the format for final submission (single photo, multiple, video)? What time zone is the deadline? Is it midnight as it clicks over to that day or do you have the whole day up to 11:59 pm? How are they being judged? Is there a rubric or is it only your own personal preferences? Are there categories for the prizes? What details do you need from me with my entry (name, address, email)? I'm sure there are many other questions too. These are just what I have on the top of my head.
Also, if we get feedback from you in the patreon tier on our contest mini, is that allowed/fair?
You are overthinking it a bit it's a very laid down competition but I will try to answer everything as detailed as possible.
Submission photo is just an unpainted picture with your Patreon name and date on a piece of paper
Final submission can be as many photos as you want, the more the merrier, video is also welcome
Submission is up to October 15th midnight, CET time because that's my time zone but if you miss that by a couple hours or so I don't care, it's not that important. I'm not going to leave anyone out just because they submitted their entries 2 hours late.
Judging is my own criteria, that's all. I will be as fair as possible, trust me here, I want to give everything away and I want to motivate people to paint more. If I get a lot of SUPER HIGH level entries I will make a separate category for pros at my own criteria as well.
No categories as I explain in the video, all into one.
You just need to send an email with your PATREON name and formatted in a specific way (just the subject so they get sorted automatically)
Yes your tier benefits can be used for models for the competition but consider the double edge sword that is me knowing your entry in all detail.

This is a very traditional competition style. In fact most painting competitions are done this way, Golden Demon is an exception.
