Explanation of how wendigo works : you cant kill it at all , you can only scare it off with fire so a flare gun or incinirator is neccesary and wendigo is the spore infected corpse of joshua graham

Not only is the Mojave a toxic inhospitable mess, now Zion is too??? Jesus that's just too much. On my first playthrough of Dust ,Zion was going to be my first stop for some re supplies and a well earned rest ,maybe a nice relaxing snuggle with a cute Sorrows or Dead Horses girl. Now I'm really depressed. And I really missed Zion.

If anyone would care to do it. I would suggest some one makes a mod that regenerates Zion , cleans it up, de toxifies it , returns it to its former glory. Like the player - survivor goes and gets a G.E.C.K ,a previously hidden G.E.C.K from vault 22 or wherever. Maybe drags Lydia by gun point to help him regenerate Zion. Honestly I do not like what's happened to Zion in that canon of Dust. It just does not feel right. Zion should always of been the light in the darkness nexr to the Mojave.
I strongly believe that insane is the canon way of finishing Dust.

I believe that too. After what we saw in DUST, I find it hard to believe the Survivor gets out without any mental/behavioral alterations or damage. His mental state can’t be 100% normal after that.

For DUST, what you really need is the flare gun. It's the most OP wep in the mod because it causes abominations to flee. That's deathclaws, tunnelers, cazadors, and centaurs.
Cazadores the plural term for Cazador is Cazadores

fun fact: the windigo actively seeks you out. you can't kill it, trust me i spent almost five hours on my last dust run trying to, but it does avoid waterways and isn't active during the early afternoon. it screams when it detects you but unlike spore carriers it can't enter new areas like caves. vats is a good way at detecting it, and fire weapons do make it run, and if it can't run whilst on fire it will disappear, and once it hp goes to 0 it is restored to max.
so essentially travel from 12 to 15 (3pm), travel alongside waterways, when it is active make sure you have a fire weapon at the ready and if you hear a it scream use vats, hit it with fire, and run to a cave or closed building.
I can relate to being made to feel like video games were a waste of time. I used to spend hours gaming with friends but as I grew older and my friends all gradually stopped playing so did I. I stopped enjoying the feeling of getting lost in a fantasy world, instead getting lost in the adult world; I am still lost in this world but still get a moment of respite, a warm nostalgia, when I watch videos like these.
Sometimes it's those small moments of nostalgia that melt away the worries of life.
Funny, I had the same thing but went the opposite. If I'm not sleeping, eating, driving, or working, I'm playing video games. They are the focus of my life. I even gave my self-built PC to my friend and bought myself a similar-power laptop for the sole reason that it made it possible for us to play together. The real world is painful, challenging, and tiring. The fantasy worlds I play with have none of those (well except some games that get deep emotional reactions from me have painful bits in them lol). In them, I am the master. I control what happens. In a few, I can even control time, space, and my own mortality (tgm, baby!)
I still lead a productive life and while my circle of friends is small, they're more than adequate for me.
I'm still going strong in both worlds, but it seems impossible sometimes. If the world was good, it would be easy... but the world is a corrupt piece of shit, and humans are a stain on it, and that won't change... so here we are!

If you go into the Angel Cave at the Dead Horses camp in Zion, you can find a Flare Gun, which does not consume Flamer Fuel when fired, and works to drive away the spore carriers and Wendigo. Makes getting through Zion in Dust a lot more manageable.
Also, you probably discovered this when you looked up how to get to Grand Staircase, but The Divide is a sinister trap. If you go all the way through it, you arrive back at the start of Lonesome Road and have no choice but to go back to the Canyon Wreckage in the Mojave!
I got the flare gun and felt like it was a glitch of some kind when it didn't consume ammo, so I refused to use it.
The Divide makes me want to cry and climax at the same time. I'm glad I didn't try to get through it, I would've had to go back through Zion to get more resources in the Mojave.
@@directionalowl Also hidden somewhere in Zion is A Light Shining in Darkness, the unique .45 Auto Pistol. Even the Wiki called it A Light Cheating in Darkness, because it too has infinite ammunition.

the wild dog inside goodspring's tavern is (probably) Cheyenne, which is kinda cool honestly, adds a new level of messed up realism.
because in a situation like this: yeah, your beloved pet dog would go feral for the sake of it's own survival, regardless of how well it was trained.
Dogs typically live 15 years at their max, and that is taking the apocalypse out of the equation. Not to burst your line of thinking, but Dust takes place 20 years after the end of New Vegas. That said, they could very well be related to Cheyenne!

Dust is such an interesting mod. I feel like people would love it so much more if it would be polished and overhauled to not make certain perks worthless.
I don’t think a mod has made me as awestruck or as angry as Dust has.
All jokes and hatred for it aside, it's fantastic. The story it told was one I feel that players of New Vegas should hear to see the real weight of their decisions, but ultimately it was rushed and poorly executed. If it was given a spark of fresh air or combined with other mods, I could really see it being one of the better overhauls. (I am aware there are mods for Dust, my playthroughs thus far were unaltered to see what Dust was capable of.)
@Directional Owl i mixed my Dust playthrough with the New Vegas Bounties 1-2, and it fit in pretty well. With some of the bounties being super vile characters, they seemed like they belonged in Dust, the type of people who would thrive in that world.
@Morinitio Same, NV interiors add even more enterable buildings and characters. I tried it with MoMonsters mod, many of the creatures look super out of place, though so i deleted some of their files like the tarantulas. I really liked the nighstpawns though.

It's so depressing. I started South, making my way towards the Strip. After Primm I was like: am I the bad guy? And what I found at the Mojave Outpost just fcking broke me.
Dust was one of the reasons I bought my PC, and after years of wanting to, I finally played it, with the only spoiler being the beginning of your first video of the mod, that finally made me want to play it.
I played it in a bit of a dark moment of my life: coming out of a long relationship and with my cat that had been accompanied me all my life no longer with me, along with many other things. It was a tough year.
Regardless, I think it was the best moment to play it, both in the game and outside of it there was the same feeling, and the most important and something this mod helped me with, as stupid as it sounds, it helped me to learn to let go.
Anyway, enough venting, great video, keep up the good work, you're great

Story about the video games really resonates keep up the amazing content
Dust is definitely one of those mods where the enjoyment is very subjective, but if you are into the extreme survivalist aspect, the bleak and depressing atmosphere, and have the patience to get immersed in the setting, it's definitely a really good experience. As with many mods there's a bunch of ones that the creator of Dust recommends to use alongside it, which in my opinion really helps the experience too
I do think I will be giving this mod another shot at some point on a lower difficulty with the recommended mods, like the Underforge if I recall correctly, but overall, I enjoyed what it stood for. As someone who calls themselves an artist, I tend to find the beauty in some of the vilest things.

Is all of Zion screwed now, like no clean water or lush green anywhere? What happened to all the tribals, Daniel and Joshua, anyone know where they migrated too?
From my limited knowledge of the mod, the tribals died in the Long Dark and Joshua is the Wendigo. If you're in doubt, chances are the characters in question are dead or ruined.
@@directionalowl Yeah I've watched a few other vids now since my last comment here.Yes its basically Dust canon , most of the tribals Dead Horses and Sorrows, went into the Divide, attacked the Dust Walkers, to take over their territory. Got beaten back into the tunnel. Got finished off by the Dust Walkers there.
However there is no mention of White Bird, the Sorrows shaman. When you go to his cave in Zion, there's only a gun ,some powerful gun. Maybe left by another survivor been and gone or died in the vicinity. White Bird didn't use guns as far as I remember. There's no remains in the cave suggesting White Bird died there. In my head canon he had visions of what was going to happen in Zion. He lead his loyal Sorrows followers to the highest peaks and plateaus of the highest mountain there. That rose above the toxic dust clouds and so was also free of the spores. Found ways to grow food and collect water up there. And there he waits for a survivor he saw in a vision. To bring a G.E.C.K ( maybe a previously hidden one from vault 22. Along with a powerful toxic cleansing agent the ghoul scientist created while she was there. Maybe she's still there conducting more science research on and off?). He sees a survivor, that he or she will see the toxic clouds don't rise above the highest mountain, when they traverse Zion . So he or she will climb it ,using rock climbing gear, ropes. ( As White Bird and his followers did ,after White Bird saw where to find rock climbing gear Randall Clark had stashed).There they will find a hopeful White Bird and his Sorrows tribals. The survivor speaks with him, White Bird makes him understand what needs to be done to cleanse and rejuvenate Zion. The survivor goes to vault 22. Finds Keely, still doing freelance research there, no longer employed by the O.S.I. The survivor convinces her to go to Zion with him or her. Keely brings an experimental industrial toxic cleansing agent she already made to combat the spores plague. That now is out in the Mojave. They bring a G.E.C.K with them too, to Zion ,clean it ,restore it. Keely comes back from time to time to collect data on the area, check it progress . So she is then ready to test the agent in the Mojave. Makes friends with White Bird and his surviving followers. And the survivor becomes the new 'father in the caves' , or ' mother in the caves' As he discovered White Bird and his followers in a cave they had carved out for themselves in the highest plateau. The survivor and Randall Clark become equal legends in Sorrows tribal lore.
I know its a long read, but F.N.V was probably my favourite Fallout game ever. And Zion was the light in the darkness, my happy place in it. Figured there should be at least a glimmer of hope for some kind of oasis in Dust, and a redemption of Zion yeah.
Man I felt like dust really took something in me. I only finished it once through the Sierra Madre route and after that I felt tired. Took a break from video games for about a week. One of my best gaming experience ever. Highly recommend the mod

With that being said a lot of people walk into the insanity trap when they start the game with “I have morals. I’ll only be hostile if I’m provoked.” to “They looked at me the wrong way, so I shoved a fork down his throat.”

I am also feeling the guilt of playing video games. It really felt close to home of what you said about how your piers opinions making you feel inadequate and wasting time playing video games. I too share your insecurities and you have my sympathies. Playing video games as a kid used to be something that I would press hours into playing especially fallout new vegas.
But as Ive become older and noticing how games by big studios tend to make mediocre and unfinished products, I became to like the medium less. However, from what you said about “being the best you” and not worrying of others opinions is uplifting. My bad for being all sappy, its really profound to hear from out of all things a challenge video from a fallout new vegas mod. Im currently recovering from a disease that caused me alot of pain for the past year and a half and holding off my education for the time being and just trying to go back to my hobbies and stop worrying about what other people think. Again, thanks for reminding me of that.

I wanna see a mod like dust but it’s old world blues themed based on that one cut ending for it.
fallout dust reminds me a lot of fallout 1, at least in the sense that i didn't enjoy playing them in the traditional sense. i didn't have fun in fallout 1 because the dated, archaic systems and my dumbass not reading the instruction manual beforehand, leading me to do constant trial and error before i figured out how to do certain things. i didnt have fun in fallout dust because i was barely given anything to work with and forced to survive in an incredibly difficult and demanding world, and never given a clear goal aside from just surviving.
and despite that, fallout 1 is my favorite fallout game, and fallout dust is my favorite total conversion mod for fallout. both of them nail the atmosphere and frustration that would come with post apocalyptic society, or lack thereof. i didn't really have fun, but its ability to instill a constant sense of hostility and uneasiness at the best of times made me feel like i was truly involved with everything happening, and thats kind of the reason i'm interested in fallout at all.

Due to the economics of the situation and the price of angel food cake in the 1700's, I feel that it is imperative to come to an accurate conclusion to that question.
For starters, the calories in tea and their flammability could be considered to improve the duration of simple flame producing devices. More calories mean bigger erections and longer lasting birthday parties, which is a double edge sword to say the least.
In conclusion, it would likely raise the price of tea in Kentucky, but likely decrease it tenfold in China.
