If you watch closely you can tell he is already favoring one leg. He probably already had injury, but pushing himself to play. Then has unfortunate incident and it becomes career altering injury later in game. He was so great. Terrible to have such an injury.Always will be on of my favorite players

Bure had a season-ending injury in this game. I remember that season. He had 13 goals in just 11 games.
He also held out for a significant time at the start of the season awaiting a trade from the Vancouver Canucks. Then he got traded to Florida, took off with 13 goals in 11 games before being sidelined for the rest of the season
So so sad.........that whole "What if Pavel had a healthy career...." comes to mind way too much when the great Bure is mentioned 😢

ALSO PAVEL PLAYED on the PK and his best defense was his offense and he did backcheck...ALSO PLEASE REMEMBER...He played during the SO CALLED ""DEAD PUCK ERA" (I think that was a bullshit term...the BEST athletes became goalies and the refs let D play D. The TRULY GREAT players STILL scored lots of goalis: and they were PAVEL BURE..MOGILNY AND FEDOROV...imagine THAT line on CSKA RED ARMY for the 90's??? Their D pair would have been Konstantinov and Zubov....ALL RED ARMY... in fact THAT line would be the ONLY to eve challenge the Green UNit for BEST EVER

I remember " The Russian Rocket" when I lived in SoFla that was actually a pretty good Panthers team, but always seemed to be missing one or two pieces to be a consistent winner
I used to try and watch those games but there was no regular tv for it up in Vancouver. Just the highlights.
Didn't have luongo yet. Goaltending wasn't great. Didn't have another player to have a one two punch with bure. Some solid players offensively but no stars.
Guy says Bure doesn't think defence but made a defensive play to start the breakaway smh
All those goals in the dead puck era kind of makes it more impressive than Ovie today.

Vancouver should have given the city to Pavel, instead, he got a dusty garage. If Bure was in his prime when they abolished the two-line pass, he may have had a couple of 100 goal seasons. He was the ultimate cherry picker.
He played D and the opponents had to keep guys back to avoid him going on a breakaway he wasn't a cherry picker that's Canadian propoganda
