    I'll be honest, Cars 3's plot is ruined when you consider that, in racing, there are different... classes? Divisions? I don't know, but technically, Jackson Storm and all the newer cars shouldn't've even been in the same race as McQueen. It should've been a different racing division that the new cars were in while McQueen and his buddies were all still able to race together with all of the other "older" race cars.

      Yeah, Cars 1 also had different generations of NASCAR. I think the next-gens in Cars 3 are supposed to be cars like Bobby Swift. But I assume the reason why Disney decided to choose hypercars as the next-gens is just to emphasize the gap, and made them look very different from the previous generation.

      In a sense, it is true… if you need/want to swap engines, there’s a lot to consider like mounting points, engine bay clearance, suspension changes (for heavier blocks), brakes (when you go fast, you need to slow down as well), weight distribution and etc… an engine is only too good on itself, it needs other things to make it work on its best.

Just like any athlete, eventually you have to know when it’s time to hang up the hat and leave to the new kids. Allow them to have their time in the sun. Exactly how I thought, I feel like the problem wasn't that McQueen's car was slower, it's just that he's getting older and his reflexes and maximum output are degrading. Look at him in cars 2 being able to catch up to a Formula One car known for having a much higher top speed than Nascar.
      In the end, my point is that prime McQueen could beat Storm.
      Also this theory could explain why is McQueen is allowed to race with newer generation cars just how Fernando Alonso is still in F1 despite being double the age of some rookies as long as he's able to perform well.

    I always assumed it was because of Piston Cup regulations.
    Competitors probably keep the same rulebook throughout their career. When McQueen started racing (say, 2006), he was compliant with the rules as of the 2006 season. As the regulations were updated, he was grandfathered into and bound by the rulebook from when he started. It would have been mechanically/medically possible to upgrade him (like we see Snot-Rod fitted with a blower as a modification), but he wouldn't have been Piston Cup compliant.

  • @nicklas3404
    @nicklas3404 Před 2 lety +153

    I think its due of the fact the cars are actually living cars, so they actually age and train themselves.
    In Cars 2, McQueen's top speed is 200 mph, but in Cars 3 is 198 mph.
    Thats might be actually because of aging, Cars as they got older in this universe, gets slower, their top speed gets slowly reduced as years went by after their peak.
    Another thing is that Mcqueen is training to be faster, in irl cars can never train to be faster, their top speed is set, they can get modification that let them be faster, but that is external and in the world of cars's case, will probably get slower as they age.
    The fact they are living cars means they can train to be faster without modifications, get faster or slower by aging, something not possible for irl cars. But the fact they are still cars makes their aging not be as visible as humans, can be given modifications and can still become obsolete and useless of their purpose due of newer, better cars.

      Repent and follow Jesus my friend! Repenting doesn't mean confessing your sins to others, but to stop doing them altogether. Belief in Messiah alone is not enough to get you into heaven - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36). Contemplate how the Roman empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13. Revelation 17 confirms that it is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years to accomplish the religion of the Israelites C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate though because you can start a relationship with God and have proof. Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life. - Revelation 3:20
      Revelation 6 1st Seal: White horse = Roman Empire conquering nations under Trajan 98-117 AD & Gospel spreading rapidly. 2nd Seal: Red horse, bloody civil wars with 32 different Emperors, most killed by the sword. 185-284 AD 3rd Seal: Black horse, economic despair from high taxes to pay for wars, farmers stopped growing. 200-250 AD 4th Seal: Pale horse, 1/4th of Romans died from famine, pestilence; at one point 5,000 dying per day. 250-300 AD 5th Seal: Diocletian persecuted Smyrna church era saints for ten years, blood crying out for vengeance. 303-312 AD 6th Seal: Political upheaval in the declining Roman Empire while the leaders battled each other. 313-395 AD

    I believe it was the plot.
    He got upgraded in Cars 2: He had a different set of wheels and brakes and a different spoiler. He probably had some other modifications done to him to tackle Francesco's challenge.
    In the PSP games, McQueen goes through different transformations and modifications: he becones a dragster, a monster truck, a baja truck, etc. If he can do that, and it has been proven that cars can get modified in the films (look at the tuner gang or Mater stories), why can't McQueen get upgraded as well? You don't need a new engine to become faster, you can just modify your existing one. Or alter your gear ratio aerodynamics to gain top speed.
    Also, the King was running for 45 years and Chick Hicks for 20, and still, they were very capable of beating newer cars.
    Also, to those who say NASCAR don't allow modifications, it does not allow older cars to compete with newer cars neither, as they're obsolete and don't comply with the new rules. Meaning that McQueen would be force to retire and never compete against storm or go through a full body and mechanical redesign to become a next gen racer.

    Great video! In my opinion McQueen didn't upgrade himself is because I think he wanted to gain speed instead of taking the easy way of upgrading, McQueen wanted to work hard and take it the difficult way, Besides it gave a purpose for McQueen to train for Cars 3 instead of upgrading himself.
    Edit: This was a theory I made 4 months ago so I agree that I was wrong. You are free to disagree to this theory, So now that I think about it, I mainly think it's because of the plot, It wouldn't be as interesting because that's just taking the easy way of beating Storm. Basically the movie wouldn't have had a good purpose without McQueen training so I guess you could say he trained for nothing. But he didn't give up, I'm just gonna think that McQueen's Body or Model is something he loves most and would never change it (besides Cars 2), Maybe to support the Veteran legacy? I have no idea, McQueen basically just pushed himself. So what i'm basically saying is the plot wouldn't be as more interesting since McQueen would beat Storm nowadays and make life easier, So it's basically the lesson that it teaches us, That you have to work harder for the goal you want to reach. If McQueen upgraded in the movie, it wouldn't have been a good plot, It wouldn't teach kids/adults an important lesson. So my main reason for now that remains is the Plot.

    • @Breakaway-ic5gj
      @Breakaway-ic5gj Před 2 lety +144

      His "training" completely useless for speed. It also teaches kids a bad lesson that doing the same thing over and over again will solve their problem. If they incorporated modification, Cars 3 could've about an old timer getting with the times while still sticking to his old methods and being able to replicate his peak again. Also Jackson Storms' training and all his methods like taking the optimal lap route each time conflicts with McQueen being "smarter". So, remove that part of Jackson Storm. Jackson Storms' backstory as a whole is off, he should have been born as a modern racecar, not a esport guy. McQueen would need to be 'smarter' then him as the movie was telling us, while Jackson Storm would still be a more optimal racecar than McQueen, because he was in the oven being perfected for years while McQueen is just an old timer with modifications.

      @@matthewlui1004 They don't try hard enough because they know the toy sails will always sky rocket. Cars wasn't a masterpiece franchise it's laws still remain unclear, but McQueen people grew up and looked up to. Instead of landing that same impact and bringing these grown up kids what McQueen seemed to them as a kid, they just showed him retiring and shoved in Cruz, a childish energetic girl for maximum marketing.
      Damn I was obsessed with Lightning as a kid. But now after growing up I think back and realise there really wasn't much to him. In Cars 1 he is egotistic at the start, then he learns the power of friendship or something (Which would have actually worked with what the movie was going for in the beginning where Lightning lost because his tires got blown off but in the second race he could've let his crew change his tires or something) but of course that never happened, McQueen learnt the wrong power of friendship. Then he threw away his win for no reason, so last minute they can teach kids "Winning isn't everything!" Even I as a kid didn't fall for that. That part should've been about sportsmanship, where Chick Hicks constantly bumps into Lightning to take the lead, but when Lighting has the perfect chance he resists the feeling, and instead of that scene with the King Chick Hicks bumps into a wall and McQueen dodges it, then he wins. Cars 2 was a complete mess but for Lightning, he forgets the power of friendship again.
      Now in Cars 3 where they even have a fangirl in the form of Cruz, instead of making McQueen car Dante they make him a sad old man (Not sad himself but sad to look at) who repeats the same exact mistake for like the third time, then spends rest of movie in useless training, and in the final race he gives up his career just so Cruz can race. Even though he is such a big personality and can easily recommend anyone Cruz and they would take her in.
      You know nowadays when making kids movies the creators only make sure to remove Violence and dark themes, but don't actually attempt to teach kids valuable lessons for their life, instead they make their characters make stupid or unrealistic decisions, though that does do the trick as when the kid grows up they understand what not to do.

For the rich ones, they were more focused on taking revenge on the rest of the world than *conforming* and seeking modification. The rich lemons also took their broken-down state with pride, and used it to show off their status.

This would lead me to believe that Doc _could_ be fitted with a custom motor and parts that streamline him for racing, to where he could continue racing for much longer.
      My theory about Doc is that he was a very hated racer in the industry. Betting wasn't uncommon, and he may have cost cars a lot of money by miraculously beating the rookies. It's easy to see that his crash was the opportunity for the disgruntled members in the industry to ensure he doesnt come back, and business continues as usual

313-395 AD
      Revelation 7 Sealing of 144,000, the saints, before trumpet war judgments, which led to the fall of the Roman Empire.

      Revelation 9 Two woe judgments against the central 1/3rd and eastern 1/3rd of the Roman Empire. 612-1453 AD 5th Trumpet: Locust & scorpions point to Arabia, the rise of the Muslim army. Islam hides Gospel from Arabs. 612-762 AD 6th Trumpet: Turks released to attack Constantinople with large cannons (fire, smoke, brimstone). 1062-1453 AD
      Revelation 10 The little book is the printed Bible, which was needed after the Dark Ages when Scriptures were banned by Popes.
      Revelation 11 7th Trumpet: Martin Luther measured Roman Church; found that it’s an apostate church, not part of true temple. The two witnesses are the Scriptures and saints who proclaim the pure Gospel and testify against the antichrist Popes. Papal Church pronounced Christendom dead in 1514 AD. Silence for 3.5 years. Then Luther posted his 95 Thesis, which sparked the Protestant Reformation and brought the witnesses back to life. Millions of Catholics were saved.

Papal States invaded in 1798, Pope imprisoned, removed from power. 6th Vial: The Turks vast domain dried up, they were only left with Turkey. I have a theory to add. It's entirely possible that McQueen DID upgrade his engine throughout his career but is simply reaching an aerodynamic limit.
    Engine swaps ARE cannon so it makes sense he'd do it. But a complete overhaul isn't. It would be the equivalent of a heart transplant compared a skeleton transplant.
    This also explains why the lemons didn't get upgrades any further. Their frames have a limit that lightning McQueen's frame doesn't have. McQueen's new engine could be twice the power of his first engine. But with that power comes risk, hence why after his crash his trainer wants him to take things slow. He's breaking in new parts.

    Here's my theory:
    The directors love saying that Cars is a metaphor. We kinds ignore it, except for when it comes to plot.
    But maybe, (and this fits with the Pixar theory) The eyes, tongue, and any other organs are what the CARS see.
    The cars are robots. Like one director said, after an answer to a very similar question in an interview, said something along the lines of:
    "You know self-driving cars? Maybe one day they say, "Hey, we don't need humans any more, they're just baggage," and just get rid of them."
    I think that the cars are all just robots/self-driving vehicles, that communicate eith eachother. They still have entertainment, and they still have "emotions(?)", so they'd obviously see the other cars as people.
    I think the organs and all of that in a car is just a metaphor for what the robots see and experience when communicating with other cars.
    The only loophole to this though, is when McQueen had hiccups.

    My personal belief, but I think it's because McQueen sees no reason to upgrade, and that if he did, it would go against his character as a whole. McQueen isn't necessary the one to cheat, or gain advantage towards other drivers unless it's in the freedom in to which he can. A good example of him upgrading without having restrictions was the Radiator Springs 500 1/2 short, as he basically upgraded himself to be a Baja type racer, but with no rules or regulations in doing so. However, both NASCAR and the Piston Cup are near identical, and having slight modifications, or even physical altercations to body, it would be rule breaking and most likely you'll end up being disqualified. But in short terms, it would go against McQueen's character as a whole, and that the rules and regulations exist to not exceed cheating.

The “whine” sound you hear probably isn’t a supercharger, you hear a sound similar to Jackson Storm on NASCAR cars today and it’s from straight-cut gears in the transmission. That’s probably why Storm has that distinctive sound. It could suggest an entirely different transmission setup for the next-gens that allow a higher top speed. Probably some sort of transaxle.

You can see this in SpongeBob all of the time.

    Well yes, look at the tuners, they’re completely upgraded, no reason Lightning couldn’t do the same. Plus he could’ve used his setups from Cars 2 or Race O Rama

    • @beastmode3172
      @beastmode3172 Před 2 lety +4

      It is much more difficult than that. First, the tuners only had exterior upgrades, those being neon, spoilers, sideskirts, front lips, etc, and they might have had some engine tuning. Where as in Cars Race O Rama, it was McQueen's own race event, meaning he could make the rules and specifications to his liking. The reason why McQueen got a upgrade in Cars 2 was primarily to compete with the other WGP racers, and the WGP had rules and regulations, especially considering the fact most of the drivers in that race weren't in the same class. The reason why he didn't get a upgrade in Cars 3 was primarily because the setup he was running with was already doing well for him before Storm showed up, and he had no reason to upgrade it if it already had won him many races. Remind yourself, that the Piston Cup has rules and regulations regarding the cars, in the same vain that the WGP also had rules and regulations.

      @klein2042 Před 2 lety +3

      @@beastmode3172 Well no, they all had aftermarket exhausts, Boost had a Nitrous kit, and Snotrod was fully redesigned for that track build. And to hell with regulations, if storm can show up looking the way he does, so can Lightning.

    • @beastmode3172
      @beastmode3172 Před 2 lety +4

      @@klein2042 that still not easy. Remind yourself that the tuners can do whatever is possible with then their models because there's so many aftermarket parts for them. The difference with McQueen is that he's competing in a sport, a sport that has rules and regulations, and rules are obviously important, and that if McQueen goes beyond those points, it goes against his character as a whole. The entire Jackson Storm thing can literally be summed up in 2 words "Next Generation". If you look at the current NASCAR stock cars, you can see that they are called next generation, and that they are different than the previous generation. It's possibly the reason why many teams straight up fired, or forced the other stock cars to retire, and leave the sport, and it's the reason why teams wanted the new talent because there better than the previous generation, but the reason why McQueen didn't quit was obviously because he was a fan favorite, and that he just wanted to race and have fun, not pressured to be forced to retirement.

    There is weird moral implications to trying to figure out where the car stops and the living creature begins. Are they morn with tires or are they like shoes? Does it hurt when a wing mirror or spoiler is taken off? They clearly need oxygen and gasoline to live, so can they suffocate themselves if they stay in an enclosed area for too long?

    • @Valigarmanda
      @Valigarmanda Před 2 lety +2

      I assume tires are more like legs and feet altogether since they're literally immobile without wheels.
      So they're PROBABLY born without wheels. The question is, how do they transition as they age? Do they shed their "skin"? Do they just "grow"?

    • @dylandreisbach1986
      @dylandreisbach1986 Před 2 lety +3

      @@Valigarmanda Since they change their tires, I assume they are like shoes. So are they born with temporary shoes, or do they need to scoot around until they are the given shoes? Since they cannot move without shoes are they a universal right, or do people who can’t afford tires need to move around immobilized? Do they die if they run out of fuel, or do they just go into a hibernation until filled up? How many millions will die once they inevitably run out of fossil fuels?
      Somehow living cars is a large moral dilemma than living toys. At least we know that toys are manufactured and find sentience at some point. But we don’t even know if cars are born or manufactured.
