This video is so helpful for not just turning English sentences into sign, but how to SHOW them in ASL in several ways. Exactly what I’m trying to work on currently. LOVE it, thanks a million Dr. Vicars.
Also on “worse” - my one mentor explained how it’s similar to how people say “sick!” In English to sometimes mean awesome or awful ;) helped frame how to use “worse” without thinking literally
This was very (super CHA) helpful. I have often found myself searching to sign a sentence with a comparative or superlative and not knowing how. I also hope Super CHA becomes a meme!

Hello Mr. Bill Vicars my name is Thomas I had written you before about starting ASL and becoming an interpreter, and now im in the middle of my second year and this is where they seem to be separating the serious from casual students. do you by any chance have any courses other than what is on you tube or teach an online class.

You need to take into account when I lean to one side or when I point toward one of the referents.
It isn't so much about the syntax as who I'm actually referring to via pointing or leaning.

If you can disable the auto white balance and auto exposure, it would improve the overall video.
I'll look into that. Thanks. Are you seeing changes in the white balance and/or exposure when I switch to type on the white background and then back to the black background on the monitor? What specifically are your eyes seeing that clue you in to those two specific camera settings? This particular video (superlatives and comparatives) (and several others) I've been attempting to do in my home-office. The lighting is not ideal and there is a strong light coming in from a window just off to Rach's left. I'll probably end up just doing the instructional type videos in my "studio" (back room with gobs of extra lights). Decent camera settings would be easier if my sight were better. I've got red-green tint-blindness . Plus I can't tell the focus (from the tiny screen or viewfinder) half the time to set manual focus. I'm going to look for the setting that puts a yellow outline around the in-focus object (to help with setting manual focus). Often I just ask my (very nice) assistants to take a look in the viewfinder to make sure we aren't "green blobs."
Good lesson. Is there a difference between "younger" and "youngest" in ASL?
Technically "-est" moves higher than "-er."
In practice however it is never really an issue.
We might list off our children and/or brothers / sisters -- and the youngest is at the bottom of the list. Thus we wouldn't even use "-est" or "-er."
Also, if you sign: "MY YOUNG BROTHER" it is almost always understood to mean "My younger brother."
You do not need to add a separate sign in that case for "-er" since it is generally obvious to your conversation partner.
If you wanted to state, "My brother is young" -- you could sign:
MY BROTHER HIMSELF YOUNG.
or
MY BROTHER HE YOUNG.
