- After a brief overnight stay in Green Bay for some rest, we headed out for the short flight to OshKosh on the Saturday morning. We entered the conga line at Puckaway Lake and I got to fly the Fisk Approach, a long-time goal of mine. Other than some yahoo passing us just before Fisk, the approach went pretty well. Join us for the approach and the landing into Osh.

Reminds me of flying the Fisk approach in 2019. I was astonished by the number of guys who cut in. I was also somewhat consoled when the controllers sent some of the most egregious offenders around the lake again. I was given 27 and the green dot and made them. The marshal misread my home built camping sign and sent me to the north 40. Total taxi time was 45 minutes before I found my spot with the other RV-4s where we were to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the type.
Wow, thanks for sharing that. Yeah it's nice when the controllers catch someone and send them around, but sadly, too many idiots get away with it. Too bad there isn't someone dedicated to watching the ADSB tracks and calling out everyone who's doing stupid things like that. Knowing you're being watched and will be called out would fix so much of that bad behaviour.
Osh to Osh
Glad you had a couple pairs of eyes to watch out for traffic.
Thanks Glen! Yeah, that was a big help.
Man that’s frustrating. I had some slow movers in front of me last year. We got down to 73 knots at one point because of the guy in front of us.
Good guy. I am not a big fan of wanting to fly into a massive pile up of planes. It's like a car show or something, stay for 10 mins then leave whenever I want. I hate getting blocked in where I can't get out. lol Just got my sierra back from annual and now when I lean the mix it begins to shake so back to mechanic it goes. I don't know what he did but it's not right! ugh Have fun, keep pumping out videos before the winter gets you.
Next time go alone to make it more "fun". haha
Not sure when I'll be brave enough to go to Osh but some day I will.
LOL. Not sure I need any more of a challenge. :) Do it. Plan it to the nth, but do it. It's worth it.
Hi Kamal, great job....amazing how the instructions are so clear, yet some don't seem to get it !! I had the same problem...the guy I was following kept slowing down to 70kts.......I kept wanting to honk my horn....but alas, my plane doesn't have one ........I was white knuckling it for a while...but made it !! What a great experience though.....was great to see you down in Osh!
Thanks Dave! Wow, 70 knots, that’s crazy! I was annoyed at 80, I think 70 would have had me actually worried.
Great to see you there as well. Are you thinking of going again next year?
Not sure at this point....really enjoyed the experience, but we will see.....hope to see you on the field some time...:)@@WingsOverTO
It happened to me on downwind for 27, I suspect he nevever saw me. Controllers told me to extend my downwind, likely because they knew talking to him was useless!
Yeah there's a lot of crazy stuff that happens there. Glad your situation was nothing more than an anecdote!
Good stuff thanks for sharing. 0:42
Thanks for watching!
...it appears that: sorry, "I messed that up" is now missing from the flying lexicon as it is in driving...
Yup. It’s entitlement. People just think the rules shouldn’t apply to them.
Hoping to do the same some day!
I'd highly recommend it! Was absolutely amazing. Although if/when I go again, I don't think I'll camp.
