Flying VFR from Cincinnati to the Music City
This is the second leg of our flights down to Nashville and New Orleans for a week of vacation. After clearing customs in Cincinnati, we made a 2 hour VFR flight to Nashville's John Tune airport, getting vectored around and then right over Nashville International Airport. Join us for the beautiful view of the city and the airport, and some of the great music we got to hear there.

Flying my Beechcraft Sierra to Cincinnati on the way to Nashville

Earlier this year, M and I decided to fly down to Nashville and New Orleans for a bit of a vacation and adventure. It's always great to take off surrounded by snow and ice, and land in a place that's warm and sunny. Join us for the first leg of our week-long adventure. Interest...

Hey Dan. It was the icing that was an issue. The icing level was about 1000’ AGL in Ontario that day, and there was icing reported all around, so I couldn’t punch through the clouds and get above. I thought about getting up higher as we went south but the temperature just wasn’t warming up much until we got pretty close to Cinci, if I’m remembering right. But yeah, M is a trooper. 😀 Thanks for watching, Dan.

Thanks very much, I appreciate you reaching out. It's actually pretty good for crosswind landings. It's a heavier plane than a C172 or something like a Piper Archer or Arrow, so it is more stable and resists the crosswinds a bit better. If the winds are routinely 18-25 and mostly crosswind, you'll certainly get good at it! :) I max out at 25kt winds with a 15kt crosswind component - absolute max for me and only if it's a must - but the plane is rated for a 17kt crosswind.

Thanks! Yes, very familiar with the guidelines around flying and scuba diving. We didn’t dive on this trip and are generally overly cautious about it. Have fun!
