  • Helllooo everybody and come along for the ride as I birth the Marquette Golden Eagles program on NCAA 14.
In this episode, we kick off the Year 6 season on the road against the Arizona Wildcats. Last year the Golden Eagles recorded their third straight 9-4 season, although they ended poorly as Washington State dominated them in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl. Despite the disappointing result to end last season, the Golden Eagles enter this year with their highest aspirations yet.
Lance Leipold has established himself as one of the best, up-and-coming coaches in college football throughout his tenure building the Marquette football program. Now he boasts his most experienced team yet so the expectations are higher than ever. The Golden Eagles return 7 or 8 starters on each side of the ball, including Greg Walker who's back for his fourth season as the starting quarterback.
Marquette seeks their first double-digit win season in program history and hopes to earn a prominent bowl bid as well. It all starts here in Week 1 against Rich Rodriguez and the Arizona Wildcats. Last year the Wildcats started 9-0 and jumped to #1 in the nation after defeating the top-ranked UCLA Bruins in a 1-2 matchup. However, they would drop four of their final five games as they're desperate to get this season off on the right note.
In the next episode, we'll host the Eastern Michigan Eagles in our home opener as senior QB transfer Lawrence Jackson returns to Milwaukee after spending his first three seasons as the backup to Greg Walker. Now in a starting role, Jackson looks to show Marquette that they made the wrong decision at QB going all the way back to Year 3 as fellow freshman Greg Walker was named the starter over Jackson.
