That twinkle is actually just the light hitting their eye making it shine, it only shows because they have their eye more open, if you keep a neutral face but angle your face a tiny up, the shine will appear

0/3, I kept thinking the real smiles looked too exaggerated and tensed, like they were forcing them way too hard.
I have light autism (most symptoms are fading with time), and I often don't have that much difficulty in organic social situations, but In rigid tests where I deliberately have to analyze emotion I struggle greatly with overthinking.
It's also possible I identify with the fake smiles is because that's what my smiles look like, smiling isn't something that I can do automatically. Smiling is something I have to "put on" when I when I decide I should communicate joy to the people around me.

You can tell the difference by just looking to see which is more ‘imperfect’. People when the smile the just do without thinking but when you do think about it the smile is more even and people look more symmetrical.

To be fair, it’s a lot easier to notice a fake smile when you’re viewing it directly next to a real one. It is much harder to recognize a fake smile when you don’t have anything to compare it to.

I got a 3 out of 3 but smaller smiles are always the more genuine, brighter and bigger smiles are fake, the best way to tell is by the eye or how tense they are, or the situation at hand from their prospective
This is also why group photos tend to look shitty. Holding a real smile while somebody fumbles a camera is not easy. You can get around it continuously laughing or snickering.

I feel like, especially with the first two, you can spot the fakes based on the level of enthusiasm. They seem much more enthusiastic with the real smiles than the fakes. You can see in the real smiles that their smiles are bigger, wider, and take up more of their face. I think this raises your cheekbones, causing you to squint, which causes the eye creases we see (It's just a theory, not a doctor). In a similar vein, if you want to fake a smile, widen the smile, raise your cheekbones a little, and squint. Makes it much more convincing than just using your mouth. Watch some funny videos and when you laugh, try to feel what kind of muscles are moving, that should give you an indicator of what should be moving.

This doesn’t always look this way. I know from experience, I’ve felt with depression and I found it hard to deal with friend groups. I also deal with social anxiety so whenever I’m talking I rethink past scenarios for hours. So to deal with this I’ve learnt to fake a real smile. I’ve learnt to laugh on demand, etc.
I’m telling y’all viewers that you never 100% know how someone’s feeling underneath, a harmful joke can really damage a persons wellbeing, mental health, anxiety, self confidence. These are also called micro aggression. This is something not blunt but can still be harmful for example:
-“can I touch your hair?”
-“you look Chinese so.. can’t be Canadian”
Your body adapts so you don’t feel/harmed mentally which can be faking emotions
So make smart decisions on your words and actions. Depression isn’t easy, being suicidal isn’t a joke. If you make shameful jokes those may lead to their grave..

That being said, the crinkles are easy to fake too. You can activate the muscles below your eyes on purpose and then looking at them to try to detect a fake smile becomes useless. In practice most people do that when they really want to fake a smile. So you won’t spot it as easily as those shown in the video, where the absence of muscle contraction around the eyes is pretty obvious for every photo

I basically self-learned on how to do so because of how worried I can be sometimes. In my own experience you can spot a fake happy expression by something I'd call "emotional language". Original or not I guess it helps because sometimes I come up with psychological scenes in my head for plot twists or just daydreams. How this works for me is by paying close attention to not just by their body language, but their tone and reaction. I basically learned this when I was having beef with someone when they said a yo mama joke so I made a comeback to that, they said they're motherless so I said 'At least I have a mom.' That was when the situation escalated a bit too quickly so yeah now I found an emotional weak spot of that person.
This was so easy, just look at the people with smaller smiles

Looking at people's eyes is what I did to spot the fake smiles. When you naturally and spontaneosly smile, one tends to close their eyes a little bit, it's like you smile with your entire face, whereas fake smiles it's just the mouth smiling but the rest of the face doesn't seem to change a lot.
To me It just looked like they were cringing instead of a fake smile and neither was a fake one in the third one, she just had a bigger smile on right
as someone who has fake smiled a ton, its generally not that hard to make it look real with the eye thing.

If you look at their mouth, the lines you can see coming down from their nose to the corner of their mouth can also tell you, the more prominent they are, the more genuine the smile
here's the thing someone who is really trying to pull off a fake smile would have a really big smile instead of a small one.
Someone who is trying to alert the person that something's wrong and that their smile is fake, would have a small smile.

I did theatre most of my life growing up so I learned early how to fake a genuine looking smile by involving more of my eyes and eyebrows.. then I got into sales and fake smiled with almost every interaction and had nothing but positive reviews from customers. The more you know the easier it is to fake it. haha
its hard to replicated a real smile ez 3/3 for me. If you tried to fake smile most people tend to forget about how vibrant their faces should be, AND to RAISE UR EYEBROWS its something many people cant control when smiling inadvertently

The eyes are part of the smile, and they're probably why you could tell which one was fake, even if you weren't consciously analysing them. We notice these things subconsciously.
