- With RouterOS, you can share your media almost instantly. All you need is a storage drive with your files and a single line of configuration.

Interesting for a "one-stop shop" if you are say, on a holiday with the camper or something (combined with say, an LtAP) to keep the kids entertained... But I think for "more serious" in-home streaming, people would very quickly look into Plex/Jellyfin/Emby.
not really.. dlna sucks and support for it abondoned and now tik implements it in a device that is meant to ROUTE packets, not serve as a media server...
There are better options for media servers and just about every tv supports USB sticks so that there is not need for DLNA neither when on holiday
That’s a function I definitely wouldn’t have expected in RouterOS. It’s sure to be useful!
Is a shame that the dlna was dissolved in 2017, this is an awesome feature for someone with good video files and devices that support them, but is no longer kept up to date or improved upon.
that means ,there can be several vidoes in that usb and indiviual can choose what he/she want to watch or stream .
Nice one from Druvis (nice name ) and nice feature from Mikrotik !
Doesn't work for me. I tested it with Foobar2000 app on the phone and Wiim. Foobar sees media server, but says it is empty. Wiim on the other hand sees media server and folder structure with sorting from Z to A, but when i go deeper in sub-folders where music files supposed to be it also shows them empty.
On the other hand Mini DLNA in container works flawlessly.
How about we focus on making RouterOS work properly in GCP (Google Cloud Provider), not that it can play video from USB?
It seems that flipping packets is the basic function of a router.
What doesn’t work for you with google cloud?
This is a amazing feature, Mikrotik now is even better, guys you are the best.
that works well in this case (directly connect)
How about if the router is 2 hops away, how can i make this work?
you don't.
@@ON3RVH that is not good
@@nikolashuminosky6987 why? Why would anyone need dlna these days when every tv suports streaming from a usb stick/disk?
less than 15 years later they ported minidlna
It’s our own implementation with more features
@@mikrotik please stick to improvinig the functionality and stability of ROSv7 instead of implementing new things that don't work and are not needed..
This could definitely make the digital signage industry freak out. WOW. Such a simple solution to the over pricing of mini PC and signage pc's. And to be able to house and control off site... ! Thanks for the heads up!
@@user-mw1nd2xd5j this won’t do a thing in the digital signage world except for them laughing at the idea. Digital signage has gone way beyond dlna.
Do you need to enable UPnP under IP -> UPnP?
No, to run it locally you don't have to do anything else.
Do we have to download any extra package sir ?
Nope, it is all set to go.

would you integrate dect base station and voip capability like mini office telefon station?
Not in the plans.
Is it possible to configure dlna server to stream from nas, instead of usb?
Yes, you need the ROSE package installed, then you can mount network drives.
cool feature
You are cool! :)
@@mikrotik thank you for making great products for affordable prices!
please add video about configuration via terraform
and video about containers and qbittorrent
bittorent on a router? you gotta be kidding me..
@@ON3RVHit's real, CPU have enough power, RAM memory probably enough, arm64 docker images has qbittorent with web gui
USB 3 also good
this router has hardware like rpi and average phone
so it's real
but if some problems with CPU or memory resources, it's possible to set limits for speed and concurrent upload downloads to 1 active, and make passive torrent on router
Synology NAS has also limited hardware with Intel Celeron CPU and RAM 1GB etc
First
DLNA sucks. Hard pass.
