Maybe this is going too far off topic, but would it be possible to remove the gold from say 1 watch case and apply it with electroplating again with one of the solutions in between? So to get a renewed even coating with the same amount of gold, without going through the entire process of extracting the gold and then perhaps creating a new gold plating solution?

I have two questions please.
Do you use distilated water? And I noticed you switch from the black torch burner to the orange one
What's the reason for this?
Please tell.
We use tap water
And the orange one blows fire in a narrow shape thats why It's easy to blow on the gold only.
It makes the melting process fast
What an eminent waste of time.. I had 5 kilos of gold filled walmart returns that I bought from a guy in Texas for $3500 took it to the smelter and in 2 hours I had a check for $12500 dollars in my pocket, this guy had to go to all of that ambaradam for a gram of gold and people think oh! Wow! That is great!
5 kilos of gold filled means about 300 to 500 grams of gold at todays price it’s about 25000 to 37000 say one year ago about 20000 to 30000 you lost a good chunk of that gold

Remember a catch pan from ceramic cookware or something to catch the solution in case your beaker breaks is a must. This also helps when heating a beaker, some people use sand

Three type of process to gold recovery. For ic chip, ashing, wet ashing, for pcb gold plating a/p and electrolysis is the best. Also gold plated pins you can go on processing with electrolysis methods.
