    Finally someone actually testing THEIR hunting rifle not some 2k loaner with another 2k loaner scope and to top it all off
    Actually shooting different loads to find the one their rifle likes.

      True, but, in a weird twist, I found that Hornady American Whitetail Interlock 250 gr. and Norma Dedicated Hunting, 150 gr. are eerily similar when it comes to point of impact.

    ... I'm duly impressed with the consistency and accuracy of the Federal Power Shok & Fusion factory ammo in 308 Win as demonstrated by the CZcams gurus ... your videos demonstrate that the bullets can accurately reach their targets and Masons ballistic gel videos demonstrate that the bullets will actually do something when they hit their targets

    I purchased a 308 Cascade. Clean and polished the Barrel without firing a shot. Bought a Badland muzzle break / blast deflector. Purchased a Arken scope and Arken low profile rings. I then had a FFL guy dial scope in. He shot 8 times total 1 shot on paper 1 adjustment 7 shots in 3 shot groups. 1 for good measure. Grouping dimes at 100 yards. All with Norma white 150 grains. Thanks for your vidz. Your the reason I chose CVA.

    I'm zeroed on Federal 175gr @ 100yrds. I went to get some ammo, but they didn't have any. They recommended Fiocchi 150gr, and I figured I'd do it just to throw some bullets down range and it was cheap enough. Holy donuts.. Didn't need to re-zero and it was dead on. I was worried too because I was the last person at the range and 6 RSOs were all watching me haha. Turned out I looked like a hero!

It happened twice at 400 yards and one at 200 yards. I didn’t have a clue what grains are all about until researching and watching your part 1. Something that a friend of mine who shoots 1000 yards plus told me. Targets like you are using are use those as well. But by the fault if your gun was a laser you would have a 1 inch margin of error because the red dot is about an inch. He prefers to choose a small part on the target such as the left corner of that square around the red dot. I tried that in my groups did tighten up.

    Back before I started hand loading. Every time I bought a new rifle. I would get as many different kinds of ammo as I could find and test them on the bench. Some guns liked Federal,some liked Winchester or Hornady. But I never owned a gun that didn’t shoot the poorest with REM factory ammo. And I love Remington rifles. The reason I had to start reloading was when a friend and I bought 300 Rem Ultra mags when they first came out. Nobody but Remington was making ammo for it. I bought it to be a 300-400 yard gun. And nothing REM made would do better than 21/2 or 3 inches at 100 yards in either gun. I started hand loading and worked up a couple loads that would do 2 inches at 300 yard consistently

    The two separate in the dead center target is because your spot weld had shifted give you two nice separate group.
    Once you get a cheek rise and a good alignment with your scope and your eye you well definitely give one spot weld.

  • @sonsofliberty3081
    @sonsofliberty3081 Před 2 lety

    I can answer this question hands down. Corelokt Soft Point 180gr. Not the pointed one, the round one. Everything is in the woods and under 100yds anyway. The blunt bullet gives a way bigger shock and I've never had a deer go more than 20yds. About half have dropped where they stood. Between my dad and I, dozens of deer and never had a fail. Father in law shoots a 270 with with 150 Corelokt, again round nose and he has had the same experience and with his son as well. His son switched to a pointed 150gr in 270 and had them go a long way. It's any gun that you cam shoot with a blunt bullet does absolutely amazing in white tail. Now if we were shooting 300yds plus it probably wouldn't be. But for the mountains of western PA a slower blunt tip bullet is great for elk, bear. And deer. For bear I'd stick with 180gr or more. PA has 2 or 3 of the largest 5 black bear taken in The world and Siberia has the spots. I know 875lbs ish, 850ish, and several in the 700s. A guy got one 700 by me and it is just massive. It's not uncommon to see 550+ taken. Mixture of a lot of food and not being allowed to use dogs or bait to hunt has allowed them to grow like crazy. They go through cornfields and gorge themselves.

    Sad to see Remington is not any more accurate than it used to be. The bullet performance great. The difference between accuracy and bullet performance or two different things. So I’ll look for something that does both. And for those who don’t know the American white tail is Hornady‘s version of the corrlockt. It’s a locked cup and core as well.

      @@ReviewThisThing hard to say. When I first started hunting I shot for accuracy and most everything shot better than fcorelockt. With federal owning Remington ammo now I was hoping it would get better. And it may have. 180s have never shot as good as 150/165 for me. I’d try the 150s next just to see if you can find them. After terrine results with deer season xp 150 I started researching bullet construction. That shot amazing but expanded so violently I never had a pass through. So I stay with locked and bonded bullets now. I may try copper this year. Out of what you shot today is hit with the Hornady or the fusion.
