  • Bike touring and bikepacking folks share their gear setup.
    Glacier National Park bridge jumps!
    Then cycling on the Great Divide into Whitefish, Montana.
    This is DAY 18 of my first bikepacking learn-as-I-go adventure!
    31 Miles
    In this episode I take a rest day at the Fishcreek Campground in Glacier National Park while meeting some cool bike touring and bikepacking folks who strolled in. Lots of laughs and interesting bike setups. Then bikepacking day 18 starts with some freezing bridge jumps into a gorgeous river and then a ride on the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route into Whitefish, MT campground where I am surprised seeing Tom & Lee from Bigfork, MT.

    The groupies are back! LOL!
    I had a similar thing happen with a campground shower. Some friends and I were staying at a campground near Crater Lake NP. The showers there were also coin-operated. One night I went to shower and a guy who was leaving the restroom/shower informed me of one shower stall that seemed to just turn on without coins. Needless to say, but I had a great shower that night! Hahaha!!
    ps. "You have nothing to fear but the fear of missing out" is a phrase I'm gonna have to keep in my back pocket! LOLOLOL!!!

    The Road Not Taken
    Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
    And sorry I could not travel both
    And be one traveler, long I stood
    And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;
    Then took the other, as just as fair,
    And having perhaps the better claim,
    Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
    Though as for that the passing there
    Had worn them really about the same,
    And both that morning equally lay
    In leaves no step had trodden black.
    Oh, I kept the first for another day!
    Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
    I doubted if I should ever come back.
    I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
    Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
    I took the one less traveled by,
    And that has made all the difference.
    Robert Frost
    Thank you for sharing 🙏
    your journey 🏞️🌄🌻

    Little did I understand if anything about BikePackers when I first watched the first video awhile ago. I assume you just jumped on any bike and started riding down a road. Little did I know how much planning and science goes into this activity. I was surprised to see the boxes packed with food and supplies you pre-ship to locations along the route you planned in advanced to ride. I am so glad I found your channel and have learned so much by watching all the videos, including these videos on reviews of the bike and accessories, the food organization, and the thoughts behind the routes and destination points along the way, especially the rest days, shower stops, and re-provision. I'm looking forward to the whole new season or next trip, including all the evaluation and planning for the event. You ROCK this stuff. I'm now finding CZcams bumping up other biker packers to follow. I just found another solo female in Europe who looks, talks and thinks just like you .. but not as much "rambling" narration but that's sort of what makes you special, its part of your own "brand". I have a strong feeling you're going to garnish a few thousand Patreon supporters and will make this a super profitable channel for you. More power to you .. girl on wheels !!!

      What a truly wonderful review! You’re being SO helpful and encouraging to me in keeping this channel alive! One subscriber used the term “mind streaming” - an accurate assessment because rambling is when you say things that don’t make sense and everything I say makes sense. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’m a reeeeally long way from a subscriber supported channel but I appreciate your optimism. Thank you for all your kind words!

    Yep, showers and flush toilets. Just decadent. And thrilling at the right moment. The Euro couple were amazing and give us a great look at bike touring versus the harried bike packer. I love your conversations with other travelers. That one campground had close to the world of bike travel except some more women. Like you. My scattered focus is just getting my winter riding and commuting up and going.

    An outstanding way to travel. You feel healthy. You meet good people. You have a great time. Try to keep a regular habit of fresh fruits and vegetables. The tinfoil food and other junk foods will bite you in your vital parts If you use it for a very long time.

    That's called, "Rolling Coal". They usually have a tuner on the truck and can change the tune where it changes how much diesel is injected, causing a huge amount of black smoke. Happens to alot of cyclists

    • @stefanomigliuolo3468

      Ahh… they reversed the wording which makes sense. The “tuner” info you shared is really interesting. Now I’m going to have to go search CZcams videos to find with that actually looks like.

    • @rf0022
      @rf0022 Před 2 lety +1

      It is an anti-environmental thing. Yep they modify their diesel trucks so that they can hit a switch and dump more fuel into the engine and produce partly combusted fuel, hence the black smoke. Where I am from it is illegal to modify a vehicle to make it less fuel efficient, but it still happens. It happened to me this fall whilst riding the Farmer's Folly. Locally a cyclist had a video camera going when they got blasted with the fumes. They took the video to the police, they charged the guy. Half ton assholes!
