  • Sidney Campbell (1909-1974) was an English organist who studied under Ernest Bullock and Harold Darke. He held a succession of prestigious posts as organist, notably, St Peter's Collegiate Church, Wolverhampton, Ely Cathedral, Southwark Cathedral, Canterbury Cathedral and St George's Chapel, Windsor.
This, as the title suggests, is a joyful and exuberant piece for full or nearly full organ.

Many thanks for that - I have never played anything in the 'festive album'. Something I got from a pile of music. This sounds good have you played any of the other pieces in the album, I was taught at one stage by Douglas Guest!
    Francis Jackson - Fanfare
Armstrong Gibbs - Postlude in D
    Henry Coleman - Festal Finale
Douglas Guest - A Voluntary for Easter
    Geoffrey Bush - Toccata
    Sidney Campbell - Gaudeamus

Glad you enjoyed it. I think the Campbell is the best of the bunch. I have played the Armstrong Gibbs and Henry Coleman, and may ring some changes this year with the Guest. If you have the 'Album of Praise' (green) and not tried it, then I would say that is a better collection and worth exploring.
