    Thanks for sharing. I have been struggling with automotive paint multi colour paint jobs on plastic models and peeling till this week. We use a Axalta products at our paint shop. First I used axalta soft plastics cleaner. Then I sprayed their adhesion promoter. Let it dry for 15 min. Then I used epoxy primer. Let it cure for a day or so. Then I sand the primer with 600 grit foam back sanding pads. I spray the first base coat colour. Then I mask with automotive grade masking tapes. I sand the colour again( focusing on the edge of tape as well) then spray next colour etc. Then after unmasking burry it in a smooth single coat of clear. It is important to over reduce the base so it lays on smoother and saves the cars details. I over reduce the epoxy primer too for the same reason.

      Any time! Yes these paint jobs can be very intimidating if you don't know the steps to get it to look like it does in your imagination, but once you work it out it is very rewarding.

    Thanks for sharing but that first car you showed abd third is work of a true artist I'm still working on getting my technique right for spraying one color cuse airbrush and doing real cars with a spray gun is way harder to airbrush one color on model cars then it is to paint real cars, your overlapping has to be exact you gotta know where to start and know how to control air pressure flow with trigger and spray gun you don't do that you just pull trigger and adjust air flow and pressure with regulator and spray not with trigger as well, you gotta make sure your paint is thinned perfect for airbrush. Man all the modelers out there doing this is skilled craftsman, I got nice paint jobs but nothing like this lowrider style is crazzy good work man. But all the prep work is sane as real cars the more you sand and smooth and take time the better your model will look guys. I can use model master enamels and get perfect deep glossy glass paint jobs with those but airbrush I'm having harder time with. I got hundreds of model master spray paints that are discontinued colors and old hard to find colors I'm decanting them remixing them sealing them up in air tight jars ready for air brush but not gonna use the good stuff and specialty antique colors till I get good at airbrushing

    Really came out nice. I was a little confused when you did the black because with all the different taping you did I though you were going to cover more than you did with the black.

    Awesome work, fantastic attention to detail and design. Q: do you do commission work? was looking to possibly having my fathers '63 impala copied to a 1/24 as a gift. Only known pic we have is from 1973 and has what I called 'low rider graphics'. Thanks, keep up the inspiring work!

    I build alot of models and I usually either paint with brush or spray paint and they turn out ok but not like this awsome job

    The process is basically almost like doing a real car, that's so cool 😎 do they make decals of Murals like you see on custom low riders ?

    That was bad ass, subscribed. One question though, so you can pretty much start taping right after the paint lands on the car?

    Hello, are you using lacquer paint or enamel base coat for fast drying? I noticed you know use SMS products which has lacquers available. Thanks

    • @morrieskustoms6430
      @morrieskustoms6430  Před 5 lety

      No i use auto Base coat over acrylic primer, same type of paint as House of Kolor, PPG etc, also SMS. Lacquar has not been used or available in australia since the early 1980’s.

    And one more truck he probably covered this but you can spray light coats of clear on your tape to stop bleeding and when done spray one coat of clear wet sand to level the paint lines out where you taped then clear the whole car with a million coats lol

    About the type of paint that one uses is very important, Enamel is thick, do take longer to dry, and this is were people make the Mistake thinking it's dry, and it's not and this is where you get Fingerprints! My bad too!

    • @jasonmorris4795
      @jasonmorris4795 Před měsícem

      I never use enamel to paint model bodies, yes as you mention it is too thick and never seams to dry properly.

  • @CowboysOfficialAccount

    What are you using to thin these paints? Thank you in advance

    • @morrieskustoms6430
      @morrieskustoms6430  Před 6 lety +1

      Nice work . when you back tape your work do you cut the tape while its on the car or do you use another method?

    • @morrieskustoms6430
      @morrieskustoms6430  Před 6 lety

      Once I lay the tape down I cut the excess tape off on the body, I use a hobby knife with a new blade and just press down enough to cut it, just try really hard not to cut into the paint or body underneath. Cheer..

      Is there a difference between air compresor and airbrush Morries Kustoms

    • @morrieskustoms6430
      @morrieskustoms6430  Před 5 lety

      Jose Perez what do you mean? the compressors are just as good as their airbrushes.

    • @JosePerez-cg2dm
      @JosePerez-cg2dm Před 5 lety

      I mean a regular compresor for cars and an air brush ?

    • @morrieskustoms6430
      @morrieskustoms6430  Před 5 lety +1

      Jose Perez oh, ok, it’s just much much smaller and has no tank to store air, also very quiet compared to full size, but anything that pumps a good flow of air and can be adjusted works, but has to have a moisture trap to stop any water coming through the hose.
