If you were wondering about Sons of the Forest how to build over water, this guide is going to solve that problem for you. Building a Sons of the Forest water base is extremely glitchy but it can be done, but you'll need a lot of logs. If you're trying a Sons of the Forest build on water challenge then this is the video you'll need to see. I'll show you how to build on water in Sons of the Forest. These Sons of the Forest tips and tricks will go a long way in your game. - Hry
You could also wait or force sleep until you reach winter when the ice freezes over. You'll then be able to build anywhere on the ice as if you're on land. The only down side is it will appear to float above the surface of the water once it unfreezes
You could also create a custom game and start in winter.

@@Chris-lz4vk or live without a base until winter arrives, then you got time to get the modern axe, the zipline gun, farm some logs, by the time it's time to build you are ready.
You could also use Wemod to unlock the command console and turn it into winter instantly.
I have the game to have no winter so that doesn't help nor look realistic or matter for places that can't be iced over. Mainly hate winter for digging it's so buggy, I can hear snow sounds underground, freezes the water the main reason why you want to build in water in the first place. That and I feel like it takes away from the actual snowy mountains. I set start to Spring and set Season length to realistic. But yeah 100% wait for winter normally to save loads of time haha.
I'm glad you talked about the glitch. I'm having that problem too, building in a river. I'm glad it fixes itself.
You can also lay them flat in a square setup, and expand it by laying two sides out then connect it, by standing on a side log. You can expand this as long as the depth isn’t deeper than a standing log.
Been doing this exact thing in the ocean.. the amount of times I have had to chase down logs is insane, but I have a fairly nice water house now. Now I just want to make my dock go further out and maybe move the house out further as well. we shall see
Hey brother I just wanted to say thanks for these tips, and also let you in on my personal secret for building over deep water - use stones as braces instead of the half log pieces. The stone piece braces can be put into place from a distance without your character having to move forward, so you can brace and lift logs from a pretty good distance away and not have to worry about falling in the water and dropping your materials. Then, if you want to put in a vertical log to give the structure additional strength you can do that while standing above the spot where you want it, which also prevents you from falling in. This technique has made my construction infinitely easier.
After lifting a log that bugs out, save and reload. After reload, the next lift should set it correctly, even if its 1/4 log below the last. As long as there are at least 2 logs 1/4 below water level, you can connect them and add 1/4 logs to bring them back up to water level.
Yo, i clicked on the video hoping it was a better way building above the water then the method i found out. It really hurts my soul seeing how much you stuggle doing the simple task. So i thougt i would share my method with you ^^
1. You can build as deep in the water as 4/5 of a full log
2. You start with building your ground (try to let your base stand almost on the water surface, so you can build in deeper areas --> you only can build 4/5 th of a log deep dont forget that)
3. Best part comes now. To dodge the bug with the log that gets thrown away while trying to raise the other log end you have to hold your D key as long as the animation is running. With this you can do it 100% as long as you are in the 4/5 log deep area.
4. You can just use a full log to raise the end. The animation will cut the log at the perfect lengt by itself and you end up with even ground without trying to get everthing even like you in your video.
I hope its understandable, havent used my english for over 5 years now.
Bonus Tip: you can use the watchtower blueprint to even build 2 logs deep. You have to build the hole structure but you can take everthing apart after its finished and leave the parts you need.
D key doesnt work
this is how i was able to build off a small 1 square rock at the gaint waterfall to build a 5by 5 if u spend enough time u start to see a pattern on how to get it nearly right and less headacheie :D never had the issue with loosing the logs know i just had to chase them down after i threw them also the gaint water fall area is a good palce its deep and never freezes
Currently building an 8x8 but the right corner close to the waterfall is giving me some trouble😂
Nice! I don't play this game, but I did the same thing in Valheim ages ago.
legend! so glad I found this video lol
if you hold control you can pick logs back up idk if it will let you pick up the weird bugged logs that mess up when you throw the log into the water though
Was very helpful, not a lot of videos for this game with specific guides for things.
You can save logs from water. Tap whatever button you have assigned to pick it up while swimming forward. It shunts the log a good ways in that direction.
So that's the advanced new building system. Awesome.
We could build platform over water in The Forest :(
My cousin and I swam-pushed the logs back to land and it works lol
This helped me a lot, because the lake where I'm building doesn't freeze, thank you!
Where this at
11:13 Just casually kills Virginia...
About the flying logs, you can retrieve them, in the first game you could swim and push them in front of you, I can't imagine why they wouldn't allow that here.
((I want this game so bad.)) I remember I built a church out in the middle of a lake in The Forest. but that was easy cause you could place blueprints anywhere. In that case I used rafts to push groups of logs out to the build site. Do they have rafts in this?
You can get your logs back if they are in the water. U just swim up and press E while swimming backwards or whatever way you want the log to go. Think of it like your dragging a log.
you can litterally drag logs with the rope launcher zipline thing supposedly. i havent fully tested it as my friend wouldnt stay still long enough for me to attach their new log to them but still :P
@@Lyrad8791 I have not used the zipline yet. I've been holding off. Thanks for the tip! I know you can use ziplines to get logs from the shore to that little lake island.
If its deeper water, just use blueprints, and modify the resulting structure.
Just watched this and realized i built on a hot spring. Fml well Infinite water all year but at the cost of my treehouse compound looks dumb. Had to use rope bridges for alot of it.
you can just start placing logs on the ground and extent it into the water.. no weird log flying happening then.. might need more logs but its sure faster and less tedious :)
Imma have to check this out for my treehouse compound.
When you’re out on the log. The one that’s sloped down into the water. Use exactly the right height log. Half third or quarter. Your problem isn’t placing that’s causing the glitch it’s because you must have a place to stand to cut the log into the right length. This is the glitch. That’s why your first log didn’t glitch. It didn’t need you to cut the pillar when you place it
third? As in 3/4 log right? right???
lmao the angle bugs I can already hear Farket mention it is a feature not a bug in an advanced building video 🤣
10:21 nice kill
anyone know how i can put a zipline over water? i am trying to make a zipline from one island to another, but when i enter the water my zipline gets destroyed
Can you make a video about the best base you can build?
I could try, but I'm not sure what would define the best base
@@VideoGameDataBank i mean a base with very good protection would be nice if you try it
Can you build a dam that works? Have you tried yet?
"this base is pretty secure" until winter lol.
It's more easy to place a log slope down, then use a stone to lift to right position. Then you place a log to create a pillar and begin the process again... easy... fast...no glitch
And... no matter the depth
Just wait till day 10 to build on ice you get several days after that to build instead of descending into this madness lol

Wouldn't the cannibals climb aboard during winter when the pond freezes? I don't get it.
I tried this, but my floor is all skewed. Quarter logs are not sufficient to level it up because they are taller than level differences.
We need water bases/boats like in the first
When will this be on PS5
You could swim and push your logs back to shore
Winter is coming
just wait winter and build on ice
Just build on that island with the log glitch.
oh I got Wood!
You sound like Hikaru Nakamura
easier way to build is to wait till winter and build on a frozen lake
czcams.com/video/tvv6LSMq4CM/video.html
WHY is everbody holding E instead of pressing it, its faster, doesnt consume any items and youd be able to carry way more 1/4 logs
Lol,.. it’s really complicated. Just keep trying despite the bugs.
Great tutorial, but honestly, nevermind building on water. The Forest 1 building was way better. No idea how they managed to downgrade it. Using the same engine as before, yet it's more flawed.
1st one
Water freezes bro. Have fun. 😂
hahaha this is terrible....I can build on water much easier hehehe you are funny
can you share how you build yours? I'm intrigued on how yours is much easier than his
@@eardey I'll have to make a video I guess
@@dyeshan221 wheres the vod?
Cannibals don't have to swim in Winter. Bad base location.
The glitch works as long as you don’t put your head under water while placing the “glitchy” log
