- My solo trip in Italy continues with a weekend in Florence. I truly enjoyed my time in this relaxed and history rich city. I loved visiting the Uffizi Gallery Museum and unexpectedly running into David at the Galleria dell Accademia. I ate amazing food, took great walks, and enjoyed the best ice cream in the city just outside my Airbnb. IT WAS GLORIOUSE and I highly recommend a weekend in Florence.

I learnt that maybe when we were there in 2019 we may have been able to get a decent place to stay in the city, we chose to pick places outside of the city area for cheaper accommodation prices. It did mean that we saw how people live further out though so that was fine.
I loved the travel lockers! Every city should have some!
Florence is a beautiful city and surprisingly affordable to visit . Ash, all the best!
It was definitely affordable especially if you go the first Sunday when museums are free! :)

Florence looks really nice. You have really inspired me to make a note to take advantage of more city tours in the future! Travel lockers are life savers (and back savers too!) when you have to be out of your room early but still have time to do something else before catching your train or flight.
I loved your cute little Airbnb. I had a little giggle seeing the "Girl with the Pearl" in her swim goggles on your bathroom door. How appropriate for the subject of a famous painting to be integrated into the decor of your accommodations in such an art filled city!

I loved Florence when I visited. The museums were amazing. Tell us more about that wall of keys! So intriguing.
Such a fun little wall outside the focaccia place. Its a wall where if you have found or lost keys you can place them there in hopes that the owner will find them if lost. I love little community things like that!
When we went to Florence , our fight home to the UK was in the evening.We went to the airport at Pisa, put our bags into the left luggage, and then went to visit the leaning tower.
What! Way to squeeze it in. That's great!

Went to italy for the first time this year including florence beautiful place.
Awe I'm so glad you got to enjoy this city. Italy seems to have one amazing place after the other. I want to explore more places but I want to also go back and revisit the places I've been. haha Its a struggle
I recommend going to that Piazza Michelangelo at sunset; it's the best time to go as you can get amazing photos of the city lit up with beautiful colours on the Duomo.
I was in Florence in 1990, while living in Paris, but I don't remember much....
Of course it's part of the itinerary for my next European trip!!
When I first got there, I realized, their streets are like a labyrinth designed to test my navigation skills lol. I love this video because it reminds me so much when we visited it for our TV show.

Hey Jennifer! That sounds like so much fun to go back with your family. I'm sure all your wonderful memories will come flooding back. I would have loved to of heard them. I hope your kids are at an age they will apricate hearing about your experiences studying there. I did go late fall and it was perfect weather and not too crowded.

I went to Florence 10+ years ago and took a sneaky photo of David when photos were banned haha. I liked the city cause it was small enough to just walk everywhere. Love the bridge with all the shops on it. Unfortunately I lost my bag of souvenirs from my Italy trip (inc Venice, Rome etc) so I will have to go back one day! The saddest part was I lost this little painting a girl had made of the Tuscan hills.
Florence was one of my favourite parts of Italy, I found other places a bit dirty/dodgy. It's so easy to get around the country by train too.
