- READ:
Since early last week, the M9s have been out nightly for testing under their own power, usually between Jay and Wood. You can catch them @ Jamaica around 10:30 pm or so.
Note the new Nathan AirChime K2 (2-3B) horn, spec'd in place of the Leslie RS2M that has been almost ubiquitous on the MU fleet of both Metro-North and LIRR for the last four decades. It'll be nice to hear a change in pitch with the new equipment.Enjoy =) - Auta a dopravní prostředky
MY GAWD THAT HORN SOUNDS AWESOME
I know off topic, but can you make the ALP46 Sound pack horn quilable. My computer glitch on me when using the hotn, and it sounded amazing.
this is just like the R179 that they did for testing and besides that, when will the M9 coming out?
Fan Railer When will all of the M9s or some of the M9s be in service. Also, how long do the M3s have before they retire??
Nice catch
Sounds just a little bit like the WMATA 7000 series...

Does it have a RB26DETT engine? Cause that would be really cool
Joseph Edomwony no, because those were meant for cars like the Nissan GTR series, and most EMUs don't use engines, they use propulsion and third rails
Smart in them for keeping this out at night only Damn
Do these still have the private seats next to the conductor's booth?
Believe so. I really hope so too, because it's usually a good last resort option that many people don't know about when crowding on at Penn during PM peak. I'll usually end up sitting there 2-3 times a week, in lieu of standing.
I might head over there
The horn sounds like Metro North M8 train
The LIRR Brand New Kawasaki M-9 cars Are Much, Much Quiet, Then the M-7s Cars when they accelerate At of the Station!
That looks a lot like 21st St queensbridge- lower level
It's not.
Not for long M3's. Wait a second, Will the M3's get retirement runs?
it would be stupid if they did not
I would imagine so since its the last of its budd style build
Wait, this sounds just like the R179.
Etho Smith No.
no
when I first saw it on google I thought it was a concept of a septa m5 car
I thought it looked like a Silverliner V.
I thought it looked like a Silverliner V.
iiShortz you replyed it twise
First one
Probably not gonna be able to see em, too late lol
Ah yes the cuomo colors on the m9s. Can’t wait for these to be in service
4th
Hate the sounds
The things look like tin cans. Wonder how long they'll last? The Kawasaki nameplate is a disgrace. The M3's were designed and built by Budd, an American company from start to finish. How can it be that America no longer has one American-owned/operated company building rail passenger cars, rapid transit cars, etc.? We ought to be ashamed.
Who gives a shit where the trains come from?
Just because it’s a foreign company doesn’t mean that it’s a bad thing. Kawasaki, Bombardier, and Alstom all have plants in NY State, and they have given thousands of Americans jobs, with the same quality as the original American-built trains (one can say that Kawasaki, Bombardier, and Alstom are also American companies).
