  • READ:
    Since early last week, the M9s have been out nightly for testing under their own power, usually between Jay and Wood. You can catch them @ Jamaica around 10:30 pm or so.
    Note the new Nathan AirChime K2 (2-3B) horn, spec'd in place of the Leslie RS2M that has been almost ubiquitous on the MU fleet of both Metro-North and LIRR for the last four decades. It'll be nice to hear a change in pitch with the new equipment.Enjoy =)

    Does it have a RB26DETT engine? Cause that would be really cool

      @JSquaredJJYT Před 6 lety +1

      Joseph Edomwony no, because those were meant for cars like the Nissan GTR series, and most EMUs don't use engines, they use propulsion and third rails

    Do these still have the private seats next to the conductor's booth?

      Believe so. I really hope so too, because it's usually a good last resort option that many people don't know about when crowding on at Penn during PM peak. I'll usually end up sitting there 2-3 times a week, in lieu of standing.

    The things look like tin cans. Wonder how long they'll last? The Kawasaki nameplate is a disgrace. The M3's were designed and built by Budd, an American company from start to finish. How can it be that America no longer has one American-owned/operated company building rail passenger cars, rapid transit cars, etc.? We ought to be ashamed.

      Who gives a shit where the trains come from?

    • @TheRailLeaguer
      @TheRailLeaguer Před 4 lety

      Just because it’s a foreign company doesn’t mean that it’s a bad thing. Kawasaki, Bombardier, and Alstom all have plants in NY State, and they have given thousands of Americans jobs, with the same quality as the original American-built trains (one can say that Kawasaki, Bombardier, and Alstom are also American companies).
