I was fortunate to see Joe play beginning in 1969 to his final snap. One of the greatest players of all time and a really genuine human being. He was an alien force on the field!

I was getting gas at midnight at a remote gas station just north of Pittsburgh in the late 70s..There was a big black guy in front of me wearing a leather jacket and sunglasses, sunglasses at night. I saw his Lincoln at the gas pumps when I pulled in with Texas plates on it. When I went inside to pay for the gas, this big black guy was in front of me as he turned I could see that it was Joe Greene. I started to say “aren’t you”????
I didn’t get out the words Joe Greene before this big guy said with his hands up in horror saying. “no no”
