Tbh when I start one of these and see number 10 is like 48% I go "nope, I want real shit games" and wait until I get one like this where even number 10 sucks ass

I will always defend dead island as a case of disjoint marketing and development obscuring a decent game. The game itself is pretty enjoyable but got a ton of backlash because its not what was shown in the trailers. No defending this spin off tho lmao
I always liked Dead Island, it had it's flaws for sure but completely agree in regards to the mismarketing.
It has its own charm but i think the people who played this expected it to be the same as Dying Light
4 PM looks like it was made by someone while they were drunk.
I didn't mind "Enemy Front". Plain as hell yes, but thought it was ok.

Th writer was doing a really hard job making this video masterpiece so he thought he needed a pat on the back for his intellect that helped improve the videl

I hope they did too...especially since the joke they congratulated themselves for was the exact same one I wrote in my own review of Rekoil...that I wrote for Destructoid when the game came out on 360.
My memory of Enemy Front was that it was actually quite decent, I went back to my PS3 a few years into the PS4 cycle to play it. I had no idea it was rated so poorly, I have an obviously false memory of it being reviewed well.
It is... fine? Like it's not great but it's an okay game.
It looks really good for a PS3 game tho in my opinion.
Yeah it's not bad maybe average is the best word for it, i finished it back in 2014 and quite enjoyed it myself but i agree if i see a bit deeper it's actually a bland game, if you ask me to replay it in this time i probably won't touch it again.
What I liked about EF was it told the story from the polish resistance perspetive, WW2 shooters in general have italian cities, destroyed berlin, france or stalingrad levels, it was nice seeing something different. The gameplay though, was nothing new and the MP is as bland as it can get. I had to boost that to get the platinum because it was deserted online.
Have anyone noticed how Peter sounds like a robot?
At this point in gaming, we see a lot of "uncaring poor man" entries into the arena. The medium was right up there with big budget movies by then, and regarded on much the same ground. Where you have the resources and attention for major titles, you will also have dozens of B grade fair. That seams to be what mostly fills this list, although I appreciate giving a nod to those so obscure they didn't even register.
How was it 8 years ago that the last of us was remastered?! It feels like it was only like a year ago 😅
Yeah, one of the most uneccessary remasters ever!
I remember watching a Game Grumps clip where Ross went into detail of all the graphical glitches that took place during one of the cut scenes. It was bad.
The development of Sonic Boom is one of the saddest. The developers were really passionate about the project, but SEGA did a SEGA and ruined it.
Who's bright idea was it to inject Knuckles with massive doses of anabolic steroids? Good lord, he looks like he's been inflated!
God, you guys gotta play Magus, ASAP. That one's got WGE energy all over it.
Magus is actually on the new PS Plus classic game library. I played it out of curiosity. It deserved its score.
just a reminder as peter said, GTA5 was released for the latest generation console, not it's actual release. can't wait for next year's 10 year anniversary.

Honestly, Enemy Front wasn't that bad (at least on PC). As a budget title, it was a short, enjoyable ride with a huge nostalgia-factor (remember, in 2014 WW2 shooters were basically nonexistent, since around 2009 everyone jumped on the Modern Warfare bandwagon). Sure, it was flawed as heck, buggy, glitchy, unoriginal - tho the Warsaw Uprising was a pretty unique setting), but not among the worst.
IIRC, the Rambo game wasn't originally meant to be an on-rails shooter. Reef Entertainment was working with developers since it acquired the rights but ended up contracting it out to Teyon, a team renowned for making subpar on-rails shooters
It really is a shame since there is a lot of potential with the Rambo IP

@@JohnDoe-wq5eu It's more like it's gaming-themed. Calling them a gaming channel is like calling Castlevania a horror game, or Donkey Kong Country an ape simulator.
You CAN play Magus in the UK! Or at least you could...it was on PS Now, so may be in PS Plus Extra or Premium. Worth it for the laughs and an easy plat - for a lot of it I wasn't even looking at the screen, just spamming the magic attacks.

I'm surprised Sonic Boom was that early in the list. I'm aware it probably wasn't really the worst by any metric, but it was probably the most publicized disaster of all the ones here.
I can't comprehend hiw would a Rambo videogame be so hard to make? Original story, Third person over the shoulder shooting, hand-to-hand combat, stealth kills, bobby traping enemies in an open field. Is it really that hard? Honest question, I know next to nothing about making videogames.
Sonic Boom deserves to be on here just for changing his god dam arm color to blue. Sonic does not have blue arms!!!

I didn't mind Sonic Boom Rise of Lyric. It needed a little more time in the oven, but I was able to complete it from start to finish.
Holy crap, the "rekoil in horror" joke is the exact same one as I wrote IN MY REVIEW OF THE 360 VERSION OF REKOIL I wrote for Destructoid! Ha!
Another worst fact about Magus: it's in the hundreds of dollars price range nowadays !

Sonic Boom games may of been terrible, but the show is comedy gold. Such good writing it has.

Escape Dead Island wasn't that bad IMO, it was basically a non-sucky version of LOST with zombies.
I like it. I still play it sometimes.

Magus did get released on other stores. I know that because I bought it for like $2.50 Australian. That's five hours of my life I'm never getting back.

A good piece of advice with Excel for your writer is to always set the intended format of important columns, especially with external data you haven't yet vetted. You can right-click on a column, select Format Cells, then highlight "text" in the category list and press OK. This will always present the text, including times and numbers, exactly as entered.
Honorable Mention: The Elder Scrolls Online's Launch could be a potential candidate for most disappointing game of the year. It's not a bad game at all, especially with the improvements they made over the years, but it was pretty mediocre on release. Most MMOs were pretty rough around the edges around the start of their lifetimes, but in addition to that, Elder Scrolls Online didn't have much unique to offer in terms of MMOs aside from being first person fantasy and it being a prequel to Morrowind. Once again you start out as a prisoner who escapes to forge your own path, yet what makes ESO so disappointing is that it felt more limited compared to Skyrim which in quite a few ways was more limited compared to Oblivion in itself. And that's kind of a problem when players have to play monthly subscription for it. After it was retooled into Tamriel Unlimited, it would eventually explode with content and become pretty good. Whether or not you think Tamriel really lends itself into becoming a multiplayer experience, it is still pretty curious to how it improved much more than Fallout 76 did.

Air Conflicts Vietnam wasn’t great but it did have a surprisingly good story which did a good job showing the changing attitudes to the war through the eyes of a soldier and his letters from home.

I dont understand the hate that the rambo video game gets. It is on rail shooter end off. Its like comparing time crisis to cod. One is fps and the other is light gun shooter. Sure the gfx are bit dated sub part for the time when it was release but you can have good fun playing it like on rail shooter which you wont find that easy these days anywhere.
I think 2014 was one of the worst years in gaming, when the best games are just remasters from the previous year not to mention the start of a new generation is not going to have the best games out of the gate.

Sorry enemy front is for me one of the best WW2 fps games .the campaign was so long. And enjoyed the gameplay. It deserves 7 / 10
Yes, the developers of Magus were pronouncing it wrong, it has a hard G, not a soft G, it's said like "May-Guss", also, you do that the PS3 is region-free, right? So even though Magus was only launched in America, you can easily buy a copy online and play it that way, literally only *_ONE_* PS3 game was region-locked, and that was Persona 4 Arena. Also, Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric is easily one of the worst Sonic games out there, up there with Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic The Fighters, all three of those make Sonic '06 look like a masterpiece by comparison.

To be fair, Escape Dead Island wasn't a bad game. I made the platin 100% and had a lot of fun with this.

Yep, truly the single point of light in the darkness that was the sonic boom franchise.
I kept expecting some kind of horror game twist in that 4PM summation. I've honestly always wanted a game that started completely normal, and then became weirder as you started seeing stuff on the edges of the world, but if you never investigate them, it's just a standard life-sim.
But that just sounds like some pretentious jerkasses' idea about what alcoholism is.
