PS3 was the golden era of gaming. Free online. Amazing exclusives. Sony had enough real competition in Microsoft where they actually had to put effort into their games. Now they are market leader and Xbox sales are in the gutter they basically don't have to try anymore.

The exclusives are INCREDIBLE. The Uncharted Trilogy and KZ2 and 3 are fantastic.
I loved Resistance 3. The Ratchet and Clank trilogy remaster was also awesome. All three remastered games ran at 60FPS, too.

Killzone 2 was incredible. Way ahead of its time and 1 of the best fps games, ever. I still can’t get over how incredible the game looked on ps3.

PS3 exclusives were so unique and impressive back then! I remember switching from 360 to PS3 after getting the red ring of death right when MGS4 came out. I got the MGS4 bundle since that special model still had PS2 compatibility.
Discovering the early library of already released titles like Heavenly Sword, Motorstorm, Uncharted 1 was so fun!
Then Sony hit their stride and started releasing incredible titles back to back to back! Killzone 2 was like nothing else. Uncharted 2 masterpiece. Motorstorm 2 one of the most fun games I’ve ever played. GoW 3 amazing and gorgeous.
PS3 was an amazing experience. 360 and Wii were awesome in their own ways as well. It’s the generation I’ve gamed the most and was the most invested it. Never been the same since then.
If you enjoyed Motorstorm, ur gonna love Mortorstorm: Pacific rift! Its the best of the trilogy by far! (We dont talk about the 4th ps2 game😅)
Yes, I would have to agree that Pacific Rift was the best....but I didn't mind Apocolypse, it was just released at a very unfortunate time with the Earthquakes in Japan and NZ, and Sony just stepped away from it

Ps3 best played in plasma tv, my main tv is a 1366x768 42" panasonic plasma from 2011, the ps3 is set to 720p, image quality is very crisp incredible contrast and vivid color, never had issues since i first bought 12 years ago is a very awesome tv and is just an low-end model, i cant imagine how would look on an high-end model like the panasonic st60.

I have Heavenly Sword, Uncharted 1-3, Killzone 2 and 3, Motorstorm 1 and Pacific Rift, Infamous 1 and 2, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1-3, Black Ops, Resistance 1-3(i love Resistance), Ratchet and Clank Future Tools of Destruction, Tomb Raider, sold God of War 3, Batman Arkham Asylum, Arkham City and Origins, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, Assassin Creed 2, SSX, etc... Remember how KZ2 won me over at the time. My expectations were low since i considered the first game on PS2 incredibly dull and boring but after a few minutes with the KZ2 demo, i went online and ordered the steelbook edition. Btw: MGS 4 was my very first PS3 game and actually the main reason for me to buy the console at the time - still one of my favorite games of all time, finished it around 7-8 times
Great video once again. Downloaded Heavenly Sword. Going to try and emulate it tonight. Will eventually get a PS3 as soon as my bitcoins go up again. Until then it's emulation!

recently played GoW III remaster and loved it. Gone back and playing first on my ps2 now
I have all those games. They are all still very playable today. Killzone 2 is one of my all time favourite FPS. That opening battle on the beach just sets the mood for the entire game. It is epic. Heavenly Sword is an under rated jem. Not many people talk about it, but it is still worth playing. It came out before there were even trophies for PS3.
Heavenly Sword was awesome, it was just too short and had no replay value.

Loved every one one of thess games! Still have them too. Over 1000 hrs logged online in each (KZ2 and RFOM). Official KZ2 servers are no longer up.

I have been replaying GTA IV on my PS3 every day after work and I love booting that system up. I was a 360 player during the 7th generation and I missed out on PS3 big time!
Are people still online playing that a lot

@@Khammett202 people are online but it's like from it's from like 3:00 p.m. on weekdays until like 11:00 at night and on the weekends it's a bit earlier like 12:00 to 12:00 at night
Mgs4 was one i only managed to play last year as every copy of the game id get wouldn't work past a certain point picked up the platinum edition and didn't have that issue amazing game hopefully included in the master collection part 2.
Hey @BasementGamer I was curious if you knew which PS2 FAT model I should purchase would be? I've been on the fence about getting one again lately and I would like some input. I see on e-bay there is an abundance of scph30001 series but should I look into different models? I see the 30001 series has everything as the original did but minus the dvd-remote features (big deal) but I hear the other models have their own pros and cons. just looking to get a fat as they are easier to mod and would love to have my old console back with HDD included and expansion eathernet/dial-up addon!! keep up the great work. always nice to see a fellow ps3 owner replay older games like these. keep at it!

I never finished KZ2 but I did platinum KZ3 and I loved the game especially the multiplayer. Heavenly Sword is also I game I played the demo of but had no idea what it was after but I poved it because it felt like a GOW game.

PS3 is both my favorite console and the one I played the most since I started in the early 90s on a Famicom to mainly a PC since 2000.
The best past is that I can even play PS1 games with a CFW, just 2 days ago I was playing the OG Resident Evil.
One thing I loved about this era; if you liked a new series, it didn't take an entire generation to get the next installment.
I'm thinking of hooking my ps3 back up again, and playing some of the older games I missed out in. I too was caught in the call of duty trap.

You can play killzone 2 online. Some guys set up some third party servers. You just got to change the address on your ps3 to connect.
Killzone 2 and 3 are so good, pure moody atmosphere and the graphics still hold up.

I just got a fat PS3 60gb for the first time and I got surprised by how hot it gets. I noticed that you put yours in vertical position (perhaps only for the purposes of showing in the video, idk…).
I know this is kinda a 2007 question, but what is the best position to keep the fat PS3? Right now it sits horizontally, but it gets very hot, almost to the point of heating the room.

Went back to Fight Night Champion today and I was wondering why I don't play it more often.. The games in general more than hold up

Servers for KZ games went down, but they all have offline multiplayer with bots (with adjustable difficulty). I have killzone 3 and botzone is amazing. I wanted to get Killzone 2 but that required six axis function and my original ps3 controller is broken.

I’ve recently gone back to collecting for my dusty and neglected PS3 and have been happy to discover that over here in the UK you can pick them up via charity shops for as little as 3 for a quid(£1) .. I’ve forgotten how many great titles there are out there, as for what I pick up it’s pretty much anything that ain’t fifa😂 I did however get the orange box for 50p last week

@@kennethroberts3953 on Whitley bay high street we have a row of about 10 charity shops , but the RSPCA does a huge selection of retro games from SNES right up to the current generation.. but for some reason they sleep on ps3 and Xbox 360 games and sell them real cheap
@@peterrobson9920 your really lucky there, I definitely would be picking some up 🙂 I got most of my PS3 games from Cash Generator Huyton but I think I got the odd eBay bargains too and Amazon, oh and Music Magpie is worth checking too or Cex. You can sometimes find decent games cheap but not 3 for £1 cheap like.
Ah Orange box is a classic 👍 Portal is the best and Half Life can't go wrong with that, it's a shame they never made Half Life 3.
Funny i dont remember how i got killzone 2 for the ps3 and i absolutely loved that game. My only call of duty was black ops 1 and remember hating the online experience, but killzone 2 had the best online for me

I did get a PS3 a couple of months ago. The games costs like nothing at the moment. It play DVD and BlueRay movies ok if you have a remote control and it handle my old iTunes library just fine. I have not got the Spotify client working. I am quite happy with it.

PS3 exclusives are definitely a high light of PS3. I 100% completed the InFamous series, because playing as an awesome electric superhero or supervillain (depends on players personal choice) is awesome. And Metal Gear Solid 4 was my first introduction to Metal Gear Solid series. Since then I own all MGS games, including Peace Walker, but not MGS V. I mostly referring to the old titles. Still working on beating the first MGS game on PS1 that I bought from PSN store years ago. Over all PS3 has many good exclusives that it makes PS4 & PS5 esclusive games look like a joke in comparison. Because yet again, back then, game developers focused on making games, instead of interactive movies. After the PS3 & XBOX 360 era, it feels like western game developers just forgot what gaming was all about. Heck, people keep saying how The Last of Us is the most good looking game on PS3, but forget about titles such as God of War 3, Uncharted 2, Killzone 2 & 3, Gran Turismo 5 & 6, etc.

Ive been doing the same local pawn shop sells them real cheap got amazing Spiderman 1&2 for 1 pound each considering they sell for 20 thats pretty good probably picked up 40 this past month dirt cheap.
Metal gear solid 4 was the game that came with my ps3 80 gig and that game gets crazy with the boss fights toward the end of the game metal gear rising is crazy all the way through

Im still using my 2006 launch ps3. Have a huge 104 game library. Killzone i pre ordered such a fun game. I’ve been playing 7th gen of my launch wii and 360 more than current gen. Great video keep it up

Yea, alot of games today just lack that magic soul you could find in games in that generation.

Is Mgs4 ever getting a re release?
I recent bought a ps3 fat and it won’t play certain games. Gran turismo and Killzone 3 for example. The only thing I could find online is Sony used a different kind of blu ray disc? I tried it on ps3 slim and they still won’t work.
Other games work fine.

Heavenly Sword was one of the first games I bought all them years ago in 2008 when I got my original PS3 and still going strong 😊
I actually just had a little go on Street Fighter x Tekken, that's a decent fighter game, combos are tricky to get the hang of.
Only bad PS3 game I can think of is Lair.

@@BasementGamerYT I remember thinking before I played it, that it looked really good that you could control a dragon, it looked like a Lord of the Rings kind of game. At the time they had adverts all over the place for it. Luckily I didn't pay full price for the game, I think I paid a fiver £5 but dam still seems a lot for that game. 😄

Although I have less fond memories of PS3 era than other eras(due to Japan having huge issues in that era with hd gaming) it really is have a lot of great games

I loved that generation of consoles, ps3 had great exclusive and multiplatform games like Uncharted, The Last of Us, God of War III, Demon's Souls, Red Dead Redemption, Bioshock, Killzone 2 and 3, Resistance. Also the remasters of classic games like Prince of Persia, Zone of the Enders, God of War Collection, Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. 👍

PS3 is the Peak of console gaming. for about a year now i go back and play some games that i have play in the past an some other that i missed. i love ps3 and i will never stop playing on it. The ps3 was the last console i bought more than 5 games for. It's crazy to think 🤔 but in my personal collection I had all those then some. Heavy rain, Folklore, motorstorm pacifict rift, infamous 1 and 2, God of War 3, killzone 2 and 3, uncharted trilogy, Resistance 1 & 2, missed out of the 3rd. The last of us, gravity rush, mgs4, Socom 4+confrontation, sadly this is around the time the hack happened. Gt5, little big planet(this one I played the least) Playstation all stars battle Royale,

I wanted to go back and play some PS3 games recently. The wifi and bluetooth stopped working on my console, I was so irritated. I have about 80 PS3 games, it's definitely a great console still. The Infamous games are excellent exclusives.
There are some cool PS3 exclusives around. My friends and I have been constantly playing local matches of PS AllStars BR ever since it released back in 2012; I know Smash Bros. Is better, but we really got hooked with this one.
I recently platinumed Uncharted 1, not so much because I care about trophies (I don't) but more or less because I just didn't want to put the game down yet. And unlike other games, Uncharted has rewards for doing stuff in-game, so you get to spawn weapons or changes skins.
The only thing i dont like about resistance and killzone is that it feels like youre not hitting an enemy and it takes forever to kill them. Other than that ps3 has awesome great looking games specially their exclusives. The graphics they were able to accomplish in this machines is crazy. The first time i played uncharted 2 even my wife asked me " what movie was that". And that was just the beginning of the game in the train.
This channel is a huge breath of fresh air , listening to everyone argue over ps5 or Xbox series , get so upset about gamepass , argue about getting the x over the s , or the ps5 over the Xbox , and all the hate , argue about digital vs physical , argue about internet speeds and your experience with cloud gaming , just hating everyone and everything and getting so angry about everything , its SO old . Talking about older systems where you just play the games to play the games and have fun is fantastic , wish people would go back to this kind of simplicity when it comes to gaming again .

If you like Motorstorm you should try Pacific Rift. It's definitely the best in the series.

After hearing your thoughts about uncharted, i honestly think you would enjoy watching paint dry. I recently played all the uncharted games for the first time in December last year, a couple of them were okay, but i really dont get the hype around the series
I remember getting angry at Dragon Quest 11 because i kept dying to the end boss in chapter 2. I got so angry, I quit playing that game for a month. When i went back to the game, i miraculously defeated him without dying.

I just got my very first PS3 a couple days ago. Got a slim with a 500gb hard drive and 2 controllers for $100 off ebay. Before I even turned it on I disassembled the entire console, cleaned out all the dust and grime, put on some fresh thermal paste and it's basically like new now.
After that I updated it to the latest firmware and installed Evilnet Cobra CFW lol. The main reason I wanted this PS3 was to play through the older God of War games. I have a PS4 but...
You must have playstation plus to stream them... stream? Wtf? Let me buy and download them. No? Alright well I'll get them by other means. With the PS3, you can play ALL the older God of War games remastered 60fps. For me this was the best option to play these games. Screw you Sony. I'm not gunna pay you a subscription fee just to play these older games.
I’m SHOCKED (no pun intended) that you didn’t cover InFamous 1 and 2 from Sucker Punch, both of those games are awesome exclusives that are long overdue for remasters.
Also, while I’m calling out games that are absent from your list: where is Puppeteer? One of SONY’s unsung masterpieces that is so deserving of a PS5 remaster.
Man, I LOVED the PS3 generation-it really was the last true “console wars” battleground against the 360, and, as others have said, required SONY to work really hard to regain the PlayStation mindshare with consumers.
Oh and by the way here’s a question for all of y’all if you were to pick one mode which would it be single player games or multiplayer games and state why??

a good game (that has single player or existing multiplayer) is STILL always good, what your title should question is if it still holds up relative to similar modern games because what you're actually seeing is how the times have changed. Its true for ANY system of ANY era. And you have to keep the standards of the time in mind.
