It’s really bad for me. I want to like this game a lot. But as of now graphically on an upper middle end pc it looks like switch graphics. Based on their recommended hardware it’s going to be bad unless you have the highest end hardware

Yor from Spy x Family also playtested this demo port of TDU SOLAR CROWN.
I hate to say it but maybe this game should be released next spring. The two dealerships shown look to similar and I can only assume the rest are the sample way. The map seems ever smaller than expected. If it is true that Ibiza is in there plans then maybe they should launch the game with both island just like TDU2 did.
The entire map is not on the demo. The shaded districts are restricted for full game, not demo.

I dont really think a big map is possible nowadays because how much more you have to detail. This map is about the size of forza but more detailed.
@@NFSlegend2 You're right. Older TDU games peaked at 500 Sq miles while Solar Crown is a mere 30 Sq miles (same size as Horizon 4 but more dense). A lot of players already despise off-road so that's an even smaller map to such players. The complaints a few months after release will be epic when the excitement wears off. There'll be a lot of complaints of map size, houses, physics (FFB), optimization and so on.

They really need to improve the steering wheel animation, the chase cam and bring back properties. For the rest, it's looks like a good game
Chase cam looks good to me, not perfect but looks nice, i think stiff is better for racing and soft is better for casual driving
the steering wheel animation looks just like old TDUs they really need to improve it, even crew motorfest has good hand animation

Steering wheel animation is limited by joypad gameplay, for us that play with wheel, the virtual wheel must follow exactly what the input does.

It shows how ahead of its time Test Drive Unlimited 1 was, this basically looks like updated or re-skinned version of that game released 18 years ago.

Knowing that this game is still in development, I'll point out a couple of things:
-The third person (chase-cam) looks and feels awful
-the steering animation is not good, not enough steering rotation maybe
-we need properties, it's one of the landmarks of the first two titles
-lighting needs to be worked on a bit more, car materials don't look that good especially in interiors
Hopefully this game turn out to be a great open world racer, i have a feeling the devs are on the right path
Also it needs better shifting sound. There is no transmission sound when doing a shift, we can only hear the engine on a lower rpm, but no transmission shifting sound like we have on Forza.
Graphics aside, everything else will most likely be fixed/improved

sorry to break it for you but this game is made by the same people who made WRC games before codemasters and since WRC 5 (when they got the license) to WRC Generations the wheel animation was like that , solid 180 degrees of rotation

It looks terrible the chase cam is just a nfs rip off. I don’t want the camera to shake when I drift It should stay stability in the middle like forxa. If I want to move the camera I have an analog stick to do that

As a good Brazilian, he says that for us this game is not bad. But I believe that the choice to be a completely online game ends up making most people not want to buy it. This is because here in Brazil I believe that the price will be very high and also the incident that occurred with The Crew 1, caused many to lose confidence in playing completely online. I hope they also add customization kits to the cars, because for me it wouldn't make any sense not to add them... that would be better for the game. I hope they change their mind and make a career mode, even if it's simple, but to at least keep the game open, so that in the distant future some people can play

@@HikariSakaicap haha. I mean, look at the steering animation or the sounds ( the sounds are ok, but 10x better in motorfest in my opinion), or the graphics. And the performance is also not so good. I know its a Demo, but i think there wont be much changes anymore. But the sense of speed and some Details are so nice in solar crown :D

Need seat adjustment like the first TDU, one of the best features in any racing game to date.

Glad to see that there's many tight streets around. Funny that you're probably the only one who has shown any actual racing. Collisions look kinda stiff but they are okay I guess. Graphics looking like an UE5 testing environment so that's really good.
Can control blinkers, window and so on, but there is no 900° animation for the steering wheel, don't believe. I'll wait them fix that to buy it.

As a 2006 SLK55 AMG owner I can confirm that it does not gun-shot on shifts at all lol. But the engine sound is pretty good. Also, why is he shifting with the selector when he has paddles..? The car comes with that capability but I rarely use it.

I can only hope they will adress the performance for the final release. I don't mind the outdatet graphics, it sure does feel like it's from a decade ago but what i don't like is the fact that at 1440p max settings it's unstable and eating up 13+ gb of vram
What about the tuning, is aesthetic customization of the car just changing the color and wheels?
I tried this game with Moza R12. I turned it down to 30% - 50% with 900 degree steering and then driving feels amazing, simcade level. That and add it up with the roads being so realistic and challenging to navigate makes this a very worthwhile driving sim. The world is just amazing to look at and drive around. HOWEVER, this game is very CPU heavy; my Intel i7-9700 cannot keep up over 30FPS, so you will need the latest CPU.
I have seen nothing that justifies High cpu usage in this barren game. Chop it up to bad optimisation

Yes, it looks like TC2. TC Motorfest hands placement and wheel rotation is much better.
For some reason the steering is kind of wack. It defaults to 360 degree rotation..I thought why? And changed it to 540 which I usually like 😂😂
I ended up lowering to 270, that's how off the sensitivity curve is in this game. Near center the car barely turns, even when you max out at 360. I don't get how gt7 can have most cars around 540, and yet the car still feels responsive and yet this game and the crew can have cars at 360 or lower and still not feel responsive

I'm glad to see this franchise back, even if it is not my favorite genre. At its time, TDU1 became my standard for freeroaming racing games: remembering that there was only NFSU2 before, its simcadish handling, the entire island of Oahu to roam on with friends, and the variety of nicely carachterized vehicles were what made it an istant classic. Ricing cars as in NFSU2? Mmh, actually I don't know how to judge, there was already NFSU2 on the throne of the real ricing simulator, maybe I would have inserted some more performance setup, honouring its more simcadish handling.
7 years later, Forza horizon was released, disappointing Forza's fans, but TDU was already almost forgotten
What's new in comparison to TDU 2 apart from the new city/cars/graphics?

Main character looks creepy ( no eye blinking?). I loved TDU and NFSU 1+2 years back ( the U1 indie rock soundtrack is so great! ).
Not sure that I'm expecting a NFSU3 when buying TDU:SC as it is the unique stuff in TDU I liked a a lot: the (long) daylight races on real streets, the Taxi and "Bring me garage" missions.
TDU also had great support for my racing wheel. Not sure what to expect from a modern TDU and what features have been covered well enough in series like FH.
With the way they've been hyping this up, the fact the first gameplay trailer looks identical to TDU2 doesn't give me much hope. I hope I'm proven wrong.

Seems to be a better looking and less party focused Crew so that’s a plus. I have not been able to get into a race for server issues though. Looks like I still need to wait for reviews. See the fact the races are not all online really makes me wonder why I was not able to race at all with server issues. That seems to be some serious trash right there.
So it is basically The Crew but with better physics, I will give it a shot since I dont like the physics in TC but the car selection is great there.

The spirit of the campiness of TDU2 is back. This is going to be a fun game.

The sound design in the UIs, the car sounds and the backfires all sound absolutely excellent. The handling is fun. RWD muscle cars are challenging to drive and _extremely_ tailhappy. It feels a bit like GRID’s handling if it had some extra weight to it. That said, this doesn’t resemble a finished product at all. If the game is even half as poorly optimized at launch, I’ll be highly disappointed.

This type of game with online only mode (GAAS) sucks. It feels bad to see TDU dying in TDU2. They should really be put on a hand that are not worried about money first (live services) than game later.
