'Violent thugs will pay the price' after riots, Home Secretary insists | LBC

- Home Secretary, Yvette Cooper, has warned rioters involved in 'criminal thuggery' can expect a 'knock at the door', following a weekend of violent clashes.
The weekend saw disorder break out across the country, with more than 420 arrests made.
And speaking with Nick Ferrari at Breakfast, Cooper warned that UK courts "are on standby" to serve up justice, confirming "there are prison places available" for those inciting violence.
"We should be clear, there will be people who thinking they’re going on their summer holiday this week and will instead be receiving a knock on the door and a police cell as a result of what they have done," she said.
"I want to make sure justice takes place as swiftly as possible," the Home Secretary noted, adding that a Cobra meeting will take place very soon.

However, just as i think it was insane for judges to have given"Just stop oil protesters" 5 years conviction for what was essentially a peaceful protest, i also think it is insane for Nick to suggest that people should be arrested and jailed within two days.
The Government did just that in Belfast in 1971 and it was followed by a massive escalation in violence, Nick seems to think that doing the same thing now will lead to a different result.

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper is clearly out of her depth. By failing to answer any questions, she neither looks nor sounds convincing. I for one have no confidence in her, or the Prime Minister, to guide the country out of these difficult times.

Protesting about immigration by destroying local businesses and injuring the police that risk their lives protecting the public. I've got 2 Turkish barbers across the road owned by the same guy, neither shop is ever full and if you watch long enough you'll see the owner going from shop to shop to cut hair, then there's the vape shop that is only open 3 days a week and had a single shelf worth of stock until they were raided by police.
We can't even afford rent as a people but there are schemes in place to pay rent for immigrant businesses which has chased British shop owners out of their own business

Instead the [new Labour] government have focused on asylum which accounts for less than one tenth of the overall net inflow.
