HM Coastguard Search & Rescue Helicopter G-MCGM refueling in the Cairngorms Scotland Christmas 2020

- HM Coastguard Search & Rescue helicopter G-MCGN, an AgustaWestland AW189, taking off from its refueling base at Braemar in the Cairngorms National Park, Aberdeenshire, Scotland in December 2020. This base is used for both refueling and also as a drop-off and collection point with Scottish Mountain Rescue Teams and other emergency services.
In 2013, Bristow Helicopters Limited gained the UK Government national contract to deliver search and rescue operations on behalf of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). Bristow Helicopters took over the helicopter civilian Search & Rescue responsibility from the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy throughout 2015 and 2016. The AgustaWestland AW189 super-medium twin was due to enter service on behalf of the UK’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency in 2015, but certification issues caused delays and Sikorsky S-92 helicopters remained in use from bases in Inverness and Prestwick, with the AW189's replacing them starting in 2017.
These men and ladies are incredibly brave. I'm particularly impressed by the pilots with some of the conditions they have to fly in, and some of the places they land. What skill. 😁😁😁👍👍👍
