What an incredible experience that was! I just attended a local wedding in the Democratic Republic of Congo 🇨🇩 It was fascinating to observe how the Congolese celebrate marriage -- there is no shortage of dancing, eating and smiling faces all around.
At first I was (very) intimidated being the only foreigner out of some 800 people in attendance, but they all welcomed me in with open arms and it turned out to be just fine.
Have you ever attended a wedding in a foreign country? It might be the best way to experience any given culture on earth!

Actually, the Congolese wedding is broken down in 4 parts (in the order that they occur): the traditional wedding (where the man pays the dowry to the family of the bride ), the city hall wedding, the church wedding and then the party. Usually, the traditional wedding occurs 2 to 3 weeks before the rest. The city hall wedding generally occurs on a Friday afternoon. The church wedding occurs almost always the day after the city hall wedding, afternoon as well and the party occurs the same day as the church. The bride wears her best wedding dress on the last day. Per Congolese law, only two weddings are recognized by the state: the traditional and the legal.
Thank you Drew for sharing your experiences with us! Africa is honestly underrated. Love to DRC from India
Have u been to Africa
Racist india
msiddique siddique siddique Why? Indians are accepting of everyone. It’s not racist at all.
@@msiddiquesiddiquesiddique158 Indians are generally very respectful and widely accepting people. Only a very small minority are racist which unfortunately affects reputation of India.
@@s.d_8567 in every country there is ‘non welcoming people” not just India 🇮🇳
I love how he embraces every culture with much love
Or how every culture embraces him with love.
Africans wear one of the most colorful clothes, i really like that!
Its amazing that you got to experience a wedding in Congo!!!!
The most hospitable people in Africa are Congolese, they will accept you as you are and never call you a foreigner, beautiful place.
They are *too* accepting. Asians are walking on the streets and speaking their language. In the dark, they are exploiting them.
KingDaniel Maliro what can the people do. Since the Belgians left they have only placed western puppets as their leaders (dictators), because the country is too wealthy for westerns to actually leave alone. The people have no one to protect them so they are just living to survive
yes we congolese are so nice to people sometime even too too nice lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😘🇨🇩🇨🇩🇨🇩🇨🇩🇨🇩 Vive le congo 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I love their culture. Definitely going on my bucket list

In Indian weddings sometimes there are 1000 people
In German weddings sometimes 5 people
fleisch man deutsche heiraten immer noch??
Same in PAKISTAN
Bro my sister wedding had 3000 people .It was a big one
More than 1k
1:34 you know the wedding bomb af when the military comes to play a band too.
This reminds me of PPPeter going to African wedding twice
Wasnt PPPeter only on Nigerian wedding?
@@DonHrvato burundian also
That was not a tipical Nigerian wedding, he is just a racist. You can search Nigerian wedding on CZcams and see the real deal.
@@iriakastanley5467 true, seen his videos, looks like he is out for only negative criticism and looks for the worst things to show
@@iriakastanley5467 how is he a racist for being invited to a bad wedding?😂
Cool, articulate and full of life. That's my impression of the lovely people of Africa. Such an amazing continent and great video Drew!
In India it's not uncommon to see weddings where 3000 people come also
@Ankit Banerjee ha Bhai my sister wedding was very grand 3000 people , yes it's not very common but in places like Andra and Karnataka it happens
Yes. In marwaris it happens. Avg wedding costs 1 crore rupees and above.
Yeah....its atleast 2500 here.on an average....it can go upto 4000 or even more
And zero people when the marriage fails.....
Whole village😂😂😂😂
This is amazing, thank you for sharing. It makes me proud to be Congolese.
LOVE TO DRC FROM SINGAPORE!
LOVE YOU DREW!
Vicariously** I travel because of you, thank you. Many blessings for you all your life I pray.
Goma my hometown ; thanks for going there and great that you enjoyed it !
African weddings sure do look very lively and fun! I would love to attend one!!
they are
I had to tell you this Drew, we're very grateful you're sharing all these moments with us and more importantly you're doing a lot more than what all the media in your western countries will never do and that important thing is that you're showing the people not the place because at the end of the day, no matter where you live you're a human.
Thanks a lot for coming in our country and we hope you will be back.
O my God, they are so happy. Nothing is more beautiful than the real simple happiness 🤩
Hello Drew, Thank you for sharing your experience all around the world 🌎 🌏🌍
Wow. How cool! Thanks Drew!
Thank you for showcasing our culture! It was a great video, i'm from Goma also
You're doing ok Drew. Thumbs up and continued good travels.
Congratulations to the couple
Nice to see that you're enjoying yourself, and that you can easily immerse yourself in other cultures. You are truly a cosmopolitan guy, Drew Binsky. After completing all of your travels, perhaps you'll come and settle here, in Israel. We need more people of your caliber.
I love this video. The Congo is so beautiful
Beautiful Drew. Love it.
This wedding is a bit different to the ones I see and I'm Congolese and Angolan living in the UK.
What we do is the dowry known as La dot or dote (usually takes place on Thursday) and can take place outside or at home like I've witnessed in the UK and Europe. Then the civil ceremony which usually takes place in Friday, then the wedding at church (On Saturday)
*It can vary from a year apart from these events or a day between
But what if those parts were done long ago??
@@aliciamomat7963 Normally they're very close so you basically have 3 weddings in one week such as Thursday, Friday and Saturday
@@RebeccaNM456 that not true, some people can pay the bride price one year before the church wedding, it's depends
@@aliciamomat7963 Oh yes it's true forgot to mention that yes it can vary
@@RebeccaNM456 yeah
Congolese wedding I loved your outfit man truely amazing...

Hi Drew,
It’s amazing you exploring different cultures and countries and wow only 12 countries left. But how would you document a culture without their own country? Have you heard Mien or Mhonk and Champaca cultures? I hope you document their stories. I guess it’s interesting to know their tribe or culture. Thanks
Drew you miss wedding food love to see what you eat after wedding party
Wow it's cool video nice to see this kind of wedding

Wonderful bro.

So amazing
It looks like 90’s middle class indian wedding
No showoffs and simple wedding
Now I know where to have my wedding.
We can arrange that for you
@@georgeanumba5527 now I just need a wife lol.
Resolve that by yourself the entire Africa is on Lockdown besides we are safe here little or no death in most areas
Hahah
Well i have a dad that’s African and my mom is light skin so i also wish i was in Africa, it looks fun.
Africa is not only for dark skin, Africans vome in many different shades of skin, funny in this day and age people still find thst hard to understand.
Pple in the west there are no light skinned pple in Africa. There are so many of them
70% of my entire family are light skined from the east of DRc and we are blacks and proud of that
Africa is accepting of all people...
Congo has got natural beauty!
Miss u congo!!😍
Love your travel videos Drew. BTW, when you were in India did you go to an Indian Wedding? Its quite the experience!
Every country has a unique wedding

Yes!
Άκυρος Λύκος Cause im pretty sure this is already over.
he did meet peter
He visited Peter in slovakia
I really am very curious about regional African Food. Is Congolese food influenced by French roots like in Vietnam? I spent a lot of time in southern Africa and I fell in love with the game meat and also the local comfort food called Bobotie. also Biltong and Boerwors
Love from karachi bro😍😍
Home sweet home 🇨🇩
Yay! 🇨🇩🇨🇩🇨🇩
YOU DO BEAUTIFUL VIDEOS DREW😊🔥😎❤👌🙌
That looks nice
Goma,the pearl of lake kivu
I would have liked to see more of the festivities ..not just the hosts face with a few random shots of the actual party.
Cool in its own standards! But nothing can be compared to a *3-7 days of wedding days of Bangladeshi style* . If Drew or any of you come to Bangladesh, I can show you 1/2 weddings in person whenever I am here. You don't have to worry about food or place to stay in Bangladesh. You are all invited! And you can see some videos of AlviTVBD including some parts of a typical Bangladeshi wedding. 😇💓💓💓💓 much love, te amo!
Not here to compare the 2 total different cultures Bengal and African so don’t confuse them.
One of my bucket list items in life is to attend a real Hindu wedding.
519 Forestmonk yeah, can show you that too! You are invited. Some of the best Hindu weddings are held at Sylhet & Dhaka.
AlviTVBD thank you! Maybe someday I hope :-)
Cool!
In single wedding you can find around 500 people
Wassup Drew, big fan form India!!
Hey you are wearing an Abacost. Nice.
It is funny how you edit out all the people yelling at you when you have the camera
