I've seen someone who works at MDT do that specific thing with a cheap .22 and a $1400 scope.
I haven't seen strike anywhere matches in my ao in a long long time.
The shots at 500 are wayyy harder than they look. Watching you dial it in was impressive. I shoot a b14r out to 500, but I have a huge soft sand backstop to see my misses, which makes it much easier. Plus even a bit of head wind can made a difference of 5-10 MOA elevation. Nice shooting.

Not a good comparison- you could argue you’re getting your money’s worth spending a few hundred thousand on a lambo. Spending $10K on a .22 is like putting an F1 steering wheel, $10k tires, and a $10k paintjob on an old beat honda civic.

You forget that 10k in a honda civic will ensure it beats all Lambo's. 10k paintjob, duh, you know how much work goes into a good paint job that lasts a lifetime?! Not a single car guy wants a f1 steering wheel for anything but an f1 car, wouldn't even be cool nor usable in anything else. 10k for tires? Maybe a full set of custom carbon fiber wheels and Toyo Proxes R1R tires but that's stretching it.
@@roosterqmoney I’d be super impressed to see someone make consistent hits on a target that small at 500 with a 2k build. Keep in mind $3000 of his build was just the scope and that doesn’t include rings or base/mount.

All for under 2k and make those shots consistently. I’d follow that build all day. A $1500 scope/rings on a Ruger 10/22 would burn up that budget and not hit those shots consistently.
Not sure what ammo you’re running, but we’ve had good luck with Lapua Center-X in our Vudoo builds. High precision .22LR’s are awesome because you can train as you compete with a full size stock and the same trigger. I also enjoy that I can shoot more without overheating the barrel which can be the case with centerfire. I didn’t understand the point myself until we did our first build……..then I wanted one for myself.

Looks great! I have my Vudoo in a MDT folder or Manners carbon T4A stock with mini chassis (I move it sometimes), just got a Vortex Gen III, Sphur mount and usually use a single pull Skye pod. Retail or MSRP is considerably higher than what I paid for some components, I used Match certs for the scope and stock so dropped the cost about $2K. Bought a triple pull Skye pod on the Black Friday sale but it still hasn’t shipped. Edit: There are two ways to go, full retail or on sale and maybe a couple of match certs. I'll show both here for the rifle shown. Stock $1600. Vudoo with barreled action $1405. Vortex scope MAP (minimum advertised price is $2,999 but I think you are overpaying at that price, can be had for $2499 if you look around, and can be had for less if you get a cert like I did, or if you are mil or law enforcement. Rings $400. baker wings $239. Weights probably $200 for all of them. Ckye pod $900, but about $800 on Black Friday sale. Add the tripod, and ball head which as Really Right Stuff, Tripod is about $1200 and ball head $400
Total, rifle only, with discounts: $7143
Total, rifle only, no discounts: $7743
Total with tripod, with discounts: $8743
Total, with tripod, no discounts: $9343
This is not including taxes and shipping and handling. Which will bring the no discount total to $10,000+ all said and done.
I enjoy the honesty with this video. Other fake 22 channels pretend their "Precision Pursuit" is shooting 550 yards without difficulty. This is a realistic view of rimfire shooting. Thanks

My T1X in a SCSA chassis with Arken glass ontop does those groups at 50m with SK rifle match all day for under a 1/3 of that cost ☺️
6:05 Seeing the bullet fly downrange is WILD. That is super cool.
Best part is that you can throw a 700 footprint rifle into the chassis and everything will cross over. $10,000 is just for the initial build. Add an additional $1,500 per additional barreled action and have an endless number of calibers to choose from
Once split a card at 50 yards with my rpr 22 mag. It's great to 50 yards, at 100 it starts spreading out a little bit but still pretty good. I can't imagine trying to shoot 550 yards with a 22. That's impressive!
Great video Ryan. I don't think the folks making the commentary below considers the prices of the optics, or has much experience shooting rimfires much past 50 yards, or from field positions / barricades.

I was shooting F A M thru a 10/22 and hearing and feeling low power sounding rounds, failure to extract, and stovepipes.
So, one afternoon I sat down with a Digital Powder Scale then weighed 100 rounds. I found out a couple of things. Figuring that the Bullet, case, and primer weigh closed to the same. The only thing that can be weighed is the powder charge. From the lightest to the heaviest a 1.1 grain difference. From the Hornady Manual, .03 grain equals to 50 to 100 fps. For a 22rf that's a big difference and change the Point of Impact.
The light rounds hit Low and to the Right, the heavies hit High and to the Left. The rounds that weighed exactly the same, 3 shots all touching.
I have weighed CCI, Browning, Winchester, and Blazer. The results showed all have differences.
All 22rf ammo is produced on Automatic Machines. There is going to be differences in powder weight charges.
I hand load for the 357 magnum. Revolver, 4 inch barrel and Rifle, 22 inch barrel.
When the recipe calls for 5 grains that's what the load gets, 5 grains, NOT 4.9 or 5.1 it's 5 grains, exactly. My handloads are more consistent than Factory ammo.
If I could afford it I would pick up a "Bucket of Bullets" and weigh them.

I’m new to this game. I’m hitting 300 regularly. I’ve only attempted 400 a few times. Falling a little short. I can’t dial it with my Vortex Viper. But I plan to take the time to figure the holdover next time out. It’s incredible what this CZ457 can do.
I shoot to 500 with my cz457. It takes a 25moa base, 68 moa in the scope, and 28 moa hold in the reticle. I need more moa on the rail to free up elevation in the scope.

A good barrel can make an average rifle do amazing things.

Thanks for showing this end of the spectrum! "Accurate .22lr rifles" have come a very long way since I was kid, dreaming about an Anschutz or Remington target rifle!
These new shooting sports where these types of rifles get the most attention are not my cup of tea, but they have brought research and development of 22 rifle accuracy to the forefront and has resulted in many new innovative products for shooters! To me, that is what is most important to the shooting community as a whole, not the price of a particular rifle system.
Now if only the manufacturers of .22lr ammunition can find a way to mass produce "affordable" consistent and high quality ammunition that performs to the expectations of modern .22lr shooters and their modern rifles! WE could use a better .22lr cartridge of modern ballistic design/function to better perform at ALL of the intended distances that we shoot.
People should try to keep in mind that "accuracy" is subjective in nature, specific to one's needs and "bug hole" grouping is not a requirement in every aspect of the shooting sports as the favored and popular shooting sports of the times appears to make it look.
Those who relentlessly pursue accuracy in rifles/cartridges are the ones that we are beholden to for the advances and trends that we are seeing in all of the "affordable" equipment that is being brought to us today!
Looks a lot like shooting my $4000 PCP air rifle at those distances. I think my air rifle would do surprisingly well at a 22nrl competition
What do you shoot? I've got a modified Benjamin Bulldog/Pitbull that I've tried a bit of longer range shooting but nothing past 200 yards, with those Nosler rounds they made for the Bulldog. It seems to do OK at that range on silhouette targets (I could land three out of five on it) but it's definitely not good for anything past that, unless my ammo choice could be improved (probably could, all I've shot is JSP, round ball, some wadcutters and the Noslers). What's the bore size and velocity of your gun? If you're shooting that kind of distance I can only assume it's a .45 or .50, those big pills seem to be more consistent at longer ranges...

I have a Marauder and Bulldog as well. The bulldog I ported and did trigger work myself
I am shooting a 128g hollow point at 910fps with it. Accuracy is ok...
But if I'm shooting anything at distance it's with the .25 impact with slugs. Mostly hunt prairie fields that are well shot by powder burners so the shots are usually pretty far. The impact really shines though

@@nsboost also, I have a CZ 457 with a 16x scope on it and I can shoot groups not much larger than what these guys are shooting. I have maybe $1700 invested in my setup. Most of the money went to the scope.
Jesus do you guys want all my money? It's hard enough not to buy your products..... I'm more than happy with my lss xl tikka build. To the point where I purchased an ess chassis set up and all the goodies for a tikka 308 build. Now all I need is cabelas to have a sale on tikka and I'm off to the races.

The sad part is is that rimfire rifle is more accurate than any factory ammunition you're going to buy it is limited by the ammunition the rifle itself I guarantee there's more accurate than any ammunition you're going to buy
It is why I stopped with Ruger’s American Rimfire bolt action. You cannot find all the time buying 22LR ammo that your 22LR rifle likes. Got a million dollars? Stock up!
Yup 100% facts here folks that goes for almost every rimefire on the market the secret is harmonics tune your gun to the ammo not find what ammo your gun likes best, this was just proven once again by the world record longest shot structured barrels (tuned)
My ammo theory well what I believe about my statement is from watching mark and sam after work the 4AW channel they did everything possible to make a 22lr accurate for rimfire elr and it came down to handloading with heavy longer bullets that they measured the powder out in

I noticed after re-adjusting position at 9:00, you chamber a round, it appears to be a dud, but you immediately eject it. Is a .22LR hang-fire rare enough that it's not ever a real concern? I ask because this just happened to my and my brother with my 10/22 (since it doesn't lock the bolt back) and there doesn't seem to be a lot of consensus about whether it's dangerous enough to warrant waiting to see if it'll go off (although I have understood that that's mostly an issue with old ammo that may have collected moisture). YES my Savage 64 Precision at $265 can shoot good with CCI STANDARD and SK LONG RANGE at 600 yards.. but I do have a MDT BIPOD.

I wish I could do that long of a shot in my back yard. I can do 50yds or less, or 250yds or more, sadly no in-between due to topography. The only guns I can hit stuff with at 250yds have been sighted in at other ranges.

Hitting that steel at 500 yards was incredible!
I thought spending $10,000 to miss the majority of shots - shots that a $500 .223 could make all day long - was the really incredible thing. Having so little energy that the target didn't even react (so the shooter didn't know he connected) perfectly highlighted how pointless an endeavor this was. The obsession with dressing these rimfires up as competent long-range rifles, only to prove how ineffective they are at the role, is very tiresome.

one small semantical complaint/criticism. youre running a tuner which technically fine tunes the harmonic whip to consistently stop at the distance youre shooting when tuning, it could be making the accuracy worse at various other ranges. ya never know til you test though
No, it tunes the vibration of that ammo and works at all distances for that lot of ammo. Best accuracy once achieved remains.

Yeah you’re right I misspoke, I meant timed and tuned vibration of barrel harmonic to ammo speed by lot. That’s what happens when I reply when I’m tired...
Yeah that is basically the idea. But the effect it has on good ammo is less than it would have on bad ammo but inversely the better the ammo the broader the range it has an effect on. Think of it like a magnifying glass and the size of the lens being the inherent accuracy combined with the es/sd and the focal point being the range the tuner is tuned at so more accuracy and lower velocity spread the tighter the beam of light but the worse the accuracy and velocity spread the wider the beam becomes. The lower the sd/es and the more inherently accurate the barrel/cartridge the broader the range you'll see benefits from the tuner. But the worse the ammo sd/es and accuracy it's more apparent that the ammo is being tuned for a specific range
No tuner on my cz457s and they will shoot 1/4 in groups at 100yrds all day long.

Does a tuner really assist much on a .22LR barrel? How much harmonic movement could there be?
It all depends. Some people love them, and it works. Others, not so much. The best thing you can do is try it out and see what works best for your 22 rifle setup.

I've been to 1 competition in my life and immediately knew I was in the wrong crowd. People measuring each other's privates by how much their setup was.
I haven’t noticed that at matches and I’ve never heard anybody else bring it up.

@Jacob Terherst ...no sir I don't. My experience wasn't one of humble attitudes. From the moment I showed up, the conversations were about how much someone's scope was, hey what'd ya pay for that suppressor, and so on. All centered on money and popping that collar. I don't enjoy that stuff. And if it's common for prs shooters to shake hands and be kind and welcoming, that didn't happen either.

I run an Anschutz with scope, it is a great shooter. It has the best trigger ever. The highest trigger pull it can be set to is about 8 oz. way better than a Triggertech.

I've done the same grouping at 50yrds standing resting the gun on a truck bed side using a stock savage bolt gun and bottom of the barrel vortex 4-12 with Remington thunderbolt ammo lmao. For the money I'd expect a hole only .3" wide resting
The FX Panthera can easily challenge this gun at a 1/10th of the cost. It will probably win as well.
I’ve only ever been able to hit 400 with my ruger 22 precision. 500 is my next goal! But damn 550?!😭

Seems to shoot the same as my standard 1022 barrel with Valquartsen trigger.
10 seems impossible to hit even buying the best of the best I just don't see it. plus, I bet I can do pretty similar with my old Marlin micro groove that cost me 100 bucks.

@@nate1936 It's to provide more elevation. You will typically find this in ELR shooting and that particular model is the Charlie Tarac.

Good video but I can’t justify spending that much money on a 22 it is cool though. The most accurate 22 I have come across was a rem speed master with my younger eyes I was shooting machetes and dart tips at 75 yards with it. I wish I still had those young eyes again I would make a video of it.

Yes, "the consistency of the ammo at that distance is poor" and of course there is non-linear dispersion, very little energy and really no practical purpose for testing a .22 out that far. I've seen another .22 with a periscope shooting 1km and they only hit (a 4' by 4' plate) 7 times out of 250 rounds, but as a scientist I've always believed "a null result is still a result" worth publishing. But, I'm also wondering if a dirt cheap .22 (e.g. my beat up cooey) would perform just as well as the $10k build. I definitely enjoyed the rest of the video and would suggest gum balls at 100 yars next!

Nice, but completely unjustified. I once spent about a grand building a 10/22, factory laminated full length stock, Connecticut Precision Chambering worked over the factory SS barrel and bolt, it was amazingly uber accurate, shot better than I could. Still wouldn't do what this Voodoo is doing.

😂 SK long range? You need to be running Eley match, lapua Midas+ or above if your serious. Long range is good but still suffers higher SD’s. I run Eley match with an SD of 5.3fps and it works well.
