We just did a Q&A video and repositioning cruises came up. Your video and this link is terrific. We referenced it in our comments, so hopefully some of our viewers check it out. People have been encouraging us to try a repositioning cruise, and we've been frustrated that everyone needs us to give them our email address before we can see prices, so this is terrific. The biggest downside to us about a repositioning cruise is that there are so many cool places we want to see that spending a month on one is time we don't want to give up. Neil, since you and Sarah are UK citizen, you'll always need to be aware of visa status on transatlantic cruises. Recently UK citizens weren't able to board transatlantic cruises they'd paid for because they hadn't extended their visas.
Omg at the total knowledge you're dropping on this vid! Hubs immediately is looking at a repositioning cruise in early May to London. We would have never considered this if you guys had not posted the videos. Outstanding info! Love following y'all 😊

I just played around with it. One little comment: there is the category "cabins only" where you could select only inside cabin, instead of doing it for each vessel separately. Also I personally find it easier to select only the lower options for "cabin price per day" and keeping all vessels selected - just because I have no idea so far about their price range.

Cruiseplum told me I had to be a US or Canadian citizen! They charge everyone different rates depending on country of residence - it;s not just the exchange rate

Both of those sites are fine..... My wife and I cruise quite a bit.... The first one that required registering was affiliated with vacations to go. It's very reputable, been around for a long time etc. I don't normally booked through them, although I have before. Their side is very good for comparing cruises effectively and quickly though.
But cruiseplum asks for country of residence and only 2 choices are available US or Canada???? So if from another country then data is not useful?
Yeah i agree . Good if you are from these countries. Utter Rubbish for everybody else.

Definitely interesting and a faster site that cruisewatch, which I’d been using for similar purposes. I’ll be curious to see how the prices match over time, as they don’t entirely match up with the prices on the actual cruiseline’s website. The price history is certainly useful. Thanks!

Useful but far from prefect. Very USA orientated. Lots of cruise lines missing including P&O, Saga, Ambassador etc. Hopefully will develop. Sticking to Cruisecritic database until it does.

Nothing is free in life, no free lunches - in exchange for convenience, you've allowed them to collect all your data: you sold your soul to the devil :) Seriously though, that's the way things are - we simply can't use the internet any other way.
Went to the site. It states the deals are available to US/Canada residents only. If you are not a resident then you need to check with the cruise line direct to see if you qualify for the deal.
Really interesting. Does it price in GBP or do you have to go to dollars and convert? Also, be very interested in how you book your flights to embarkation locations. Hope you and Sarah are keeping well.
Tried Cruiseplum . Why does it only allow usa and canada on its introduction process ? Utter Rubbish .

I love cruiseplum for research, just wish it was for people outside of US/Canada too. I emailed the creators a few months ago to say the site was brilliant and to ask if there were plans to include UK/Australia or other countries but they said it’s not currently something they’re looking at doing but may eventually.
This is pretty disappointing! Why do the cruise lines restrict customers based on where you reside?
I think I will contact them too - I guess the more UK people who contact them to more likely they are to see a benefit
Sent them a note asking for uk support - plus a few other suggestions: " I like the fact that you have some sort of notable date feature - but what I would like to see is a way of
a) Blocking out dates based on user preferences - such as other holidays or cruises booked, school holidays etc.
b) Adding some intelligence to the date blocking - such as cruises immediately contiguous to a blocked out date for a cruise are probably ok to keep if the start or end at the same port as the other cruise, plus also cruises starting or ending in school holidays - but maybe having a few days outside of the school holidays are less at risk at being full of children than those that start and end in school holidays
Ports of call.
Ideally I would like a tool to have an awareness of previous visits to ports - so that it can prioritise cruises with new ports (or ports that we want to revisit).
The ability to exclude certain cabin types from searches - such as inside cabins, certain types of mini suite (such as those on P&O Iona that are on the promenade deck).
Finally - having some knowledge of the different ways of booking with the main operators - such as 'Select fares' on P&O / Cunard - which cost more, but sometimes give a lot of onboard credit - so can sometimes make the whole fare cheaper."
Cruiseplum is undoubtedly a great site but it doesn’t really work for UK based travelers. The prices available to UK residents are significantly higher than what is suggested on Cruiseplum. I am just looking at a MSC cruise from Southampton in Nov 24. Total price including service, tips etc is $1200 for an inside cabin. I have tried clicking through to book but US nationality is pre-populated and this cannot be changed. When I try to book an inside cabin on the company’s UK website the price I am offered is £1247 ($1562). That is almost exactly 30% more expensive for a British citizen than for a US citizen. So while Cruiseplum is a good way of finding out which cruises are available and how expensive they are relative to each other be prepared to pay a lot more than the suggested prices unless of course you are a US or Canadian citizen. Not quite a game changer for the rest of us.
