      I can't believe Disney is wanting to tear this down. If anything, why don't they just upgrade it And dinoland USA. Encanto has no place at the animal Kingdom. And quite frankly, neither does zootopia.

    Little known fact: the red yellow & white pipes seen before boarding the ride vehicle originally represented ketchup mustard & mayonnaise. Each pipeline had the condiment's chemical formula. This was bc McDonald's originally sponsored the attraction.

    Damn knowing how frightening this was when I was a kid... I can only imagine those screams from the riders were genuine screams of terror. It's crazy that watching the updated version of the ride right after this one I didn't get the same feeling from the riders as i did from watching this from back in the 90s.

      Asteroid wasn’t ever a physical prop. It was just the lighting effects we have today with the orange trail in the trees and the big cloud of smoke filling the area. They just added a carnotaurus into the scene.

      @@tyrantking7649 the movie was being developed at the same time as the ride. It was being developed to loosely tie in. The changes to the ride after 2000 were just taming down some of the ride profile and dialing back some effects but those slowly came back after the 2016 refurb. So the ride was always to feature the dinosaurs from the movie but it never was and still is not tied to the story of the film at all.

    • @tny1757
      @tny1757 Před 2 lety +19

      What you're seeing IS the changed version.
      The biggest difference is the audio used for Countdown to Extinction was changed to the Audio used today. In the old version, Seeker was a lot more nonchalant about imminent death of the guests.
      Other differences include pyro and laser effects in the time travel tunnel, the Pterodactyl actually swooping as opposed to being static, the Compsognathus were on sticks and moving over your head, a laser net for the Iguanodon, and the Meteor replacing the Carnotaurus as the meteor hits at the end.
      The ride system, animatronics, etc, remained the same, just some effects stopped working and the audio changed to make the ride less scary.
