    The carnotaurus is actually in its idle mode, the main animation plays when the rover pulls up further.
    it does this to give it a seamless lifelike movement and it doesn’t just stop moving if you look to the back after the animation is done playing

      That’s so clever! I remember obsessively watching those behind the scenes specials on the Discovery Channel as a kid and being blown away by the Dinosaur animatronics. They put so much effort into making these things as scary and lifelike as they could.

    It is a fun fact that the animatronics in the dinosaur attraction never stop moving. Even overnight they are always in idle mode to keep the hydraulics working. Even when the ride is powered down the animatronics are always moving

    • @gypsycrossroads
      @gypsycrossroads Před 6 měsíci +2

      Back in the day when audio animatronics were created they did leave them running all the time due to the fact that in order to keep them all in synch with each other they individually had to be programed. That is not the case with newer animatronics. The tower position for Dinosaur has the ability to turn all animations off. Every night as Cast Members conduct a track walk to recover lost items the ride is powered down and all animatronics go to sleep. The 5 steps that need to be followed if the ride goes down is. 1. Press ride stop. 2. press station stop. 3. turn on the house lights. 4. silence the sound effects and 5. Play or say the breakdown spiel. If an evac is needed most of the cast members in the tower will turn off the animatronics.

      It was so strange that not all the animatronics shut down along with the ride. But it was neat to see how limited motion it has, and its just the strobe lights that make it look powerful.

    I had athe same thing happen on Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye. We got stuck next to the cobra. It was in an idle animation as well. It also kept hissing. When we were evaced we went through forwards and got to see the majority of the ride with lights on.

    Surprised no one has asked this question yet but umm why do they make everyone evacuate going backwards on the stairs… In emergencies they always make you go forward not backwards…

    • @JonHoltParks
      @JonHoltParks  Před 3 lety +5

      That was something I wondered too! It definitely felt more awkward to go backwards, but I'd assume its because they figure its a more stable position for someone to hold onto the railings. Its more like climbing down a ladder that way. I guess if someone slipped they'd be less injured landing backwards than if they fell forwards.

    • @ErikWestcot
      @ErikWestcot Před 3 lety +4

      Walking backwards down mobile and vehicle stairs is encouraged because if one was to fall, you'd likely land on your butt versus landing on your face. You also have "three points of contact" (two grips on the hand rails and at least one foot on the stair at once)
      Universal does this to train their employees as well while exiting vehicles such as forklifts, high reaches etc.

      This one is super interesting. Its so dark that you cant see anything except what the designers specifically allow you to see, so the stuff that isnt important to the ride is completely unthemed. When the lights are on you can see that, in reality, its just a big warehouse with a few sets placed around where you would be able to see them. Hell, most indoor rides are just warehouses with ride tracks and sets thrown in.

    Your car was the problem child. Two cars are never in the same scene with the exception of when you see the rover as it leaves baby birds and your car is at Salty. It happens daily on that ride. The computer in the car sends an error signal to the main computer and it shuts down the ride. At a million dollars per rover and each attraction having 16 rovers I can understand why Disney hasn't upgraded the operating system of the vehicles yet. The rovers are running on 1970's-80's computers, the boards are no longer made. It is a matter of time that Dinosaur and Indy vehicles will get a full upgrade. BTW on Dinosaur every rover has the same programed route. what you are seeing is the path for each of the four tires on the rover. Each wheel pivots on its own which gives the offroad feeling.
