Collecting Pokemon Cards started as a hobby - but the chase for the rarest Pokemon Card of all kick started a journey like no other. What started as a Pokemon Pack hunt for cards like the Umbreon VMAX Alternate Art took me all the way to EUIC in London.
But the No.1 Trainer Card is rare for a reason - it’s not meant to be easy to get - so can a Pokemon Card collector become the World Champion of the Pokemon Trading Card Game? Only one way to find out.

This has genuinely inspired me to take the TCG more seriously, and start playing more consistently and competitively! What a legend! I would love so much to experience worlds, and competitive TCG at the peak level of competitive play!
I love how you explain what the cards do and how you felt throughout the matches! Great video! 🔥
thanks chary :D :D
Got loads of respect for anyone that can make it to worlds in the masters division. Seriously competitive players out there!
Cinematic masterpiece. Also, crazy how you can literally win that many games with no loses and still not qualify/advance. Goes to show how difficult the TCG really is in a competitive tournament.
dama, thank you truly, means a lot to hear that from ya!! and yep, it's cut throat, but that's what makes winning feel so much better haha
The pokemon hobby has been wonderful so far, meeting people, collecting, and learning to play the game. I'd love to be able to go to Japan to watch the best players compete and practice myself!
I really like the format of how you talk about card attacks. Gives beginners an easier time understanding what you're talking about
Very inspiring video!! loving how u vlog your entire pokemon journey in this tournament!! keep it up!! definitely waiting for more videos from you!! Really hope to join you in the journey physically too! hehe
Man you crushed it with this video, best of luck at Worlds! Would love to join you in Yokohama to experience my first Worlds ever, and my first time in Japan ever 😄
Really enjoyed the recreation of your matches in EUIC, informative and creative, great vid man!!! Oh just reroll this if I win, and get me a souvenir 😂
I love the way you explain what is happening during the matches. As someone who is just getting into the game it can get a bit overwhelming and your videos really help!
Hope you make it to worlds, I'm rooting for you!
I've been collecting Japanese Pokemon cards for 15 years now and always dreamed of going to Japan to experience the Pokemon birthplace!
Rooting for you! Would love to attend a world championship in person to show all my students that card games can still allow you to travel and meet new people.
I've only ever competed locally at VGC many years ago. Was always a dream to watch the world championships in none other than Japan as it was always too far away in the USA and it would be amazing to meet you!
Such a sick video, watching you learn the TCG this year has been a really fun journey!! World’s is going to be historic and awesome!
glad to have you be a part of it madi, thank you for always watching!!
Loved the reenacting and explanation of the matches. Must have taken super long to edit but totally worth it. IAN 6 still wants his rematch.
Thank you for going into such detail for the TCG. For someone who just collects for the art alone, this actually makes me wanna play/attempt to play the game. All the best in your journey, pretty damn sure you're gonna crush it Julian!💪
Legendary video, love the informative parts too, really insightful as a learner! And the main reason to go to worlds is to watch you lift the trophy man!
would start playing the game, if you made a tutorial series. Been thinking about trying it out, but don't know where to start learning it. GG's dude
I love how you made this video! It's like a travel channel Pokémon series with the best CZcamsr as the host! Great job mate!!
When I grow up I'll travel to Japan. I'm currently 64 - wait, wha?
My sons and I have been collecting Japanese cards since purchasing our first booster boxes back in 1999.
Wow, you are such a great storyteller. I love how real and human this video feels. Even though its hard, failure is our greatest teacher. It is how we grow as people should we choose to learn from it :) Congrats on qualifying for worlds🎉 Rooting for you JLUV!
Brother, the horror when you said you forgot your pass!! Congrats on getting back there to compete and well done either way, you're doing great!
Really enjoying these style of videos, definitely worth the wait!
Did trigger me a little about that bloody bridge though, the lift not working after a long day was brutal 😂
Great video! I had played through all 9 rounds at EUIC and I learnt so much! Finished 3-5-1 but had an absolute blast 💪
A trip to worlds would be the best way to finally get to cross the Pacific and see one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Oh, and shiny cardboard is nice too I guess
I love you JLUV 😭. Sorry to hear about your devastating loss at the end. Keep on trucking through dude I believe in ya 🙏 💪
I remember playing pokemon with my mates in the schoolyard using awful decks with whatever we could get our hands on. Im getting back into the tcg scene so if I could go to Yokohama to experience top tier battles firsthand it'd be an amazing experience!
I recently got back into competitive play about a year ago, and managed to compete in one regionals. Hoping I can attend more this coming year!
Fascinating watch! Started playing the actual game around 2 months ago, definitely getting a better appreciation for the grind that is playing the TCG. Awesome stuff
This video was amazing, really reminds me of wolfe glick's videos explaining the VGC side and his run in tournaments. If I did end up going to Japan it would absolutely complete a life goal of mine!
As a collector myself, much much respect to the players. They are the REAL comminty out there, the real reason the TCG makes sense as a whole. Much luck okJLUV, I'll be following the journey.
Hey JLUV found your channel not too long ago. It's clear your videos are improving with each one. Loving the content, just subbed up.
You have inspired me to learn to play. My dream is to be able to compete in tournaments when I retire early in a few years. Would love to attend worlds in Japan to see one live.
Dang there is so much strategy I had no idea man, awesome video. I would love to watch this live at a big tournament sometime!
+1 for using Iono's theme, such a banger song
Genuinely I think this is the best TCG video I've ever seen
The likelyhood of you winning worlds is same as the likelyhood of me getting the eevee heroes "gym set" at PCJ, you got this bro.
I've never been to Japan before and this would be an amazing experience. Also to meet a lot of the okjluv discord members ❤
It was great to meet you at EUIC. Congrats on qualifying and best of luck at worlds!
This video had me sweating, in a good way! Such a fun way to share how intense the pokemon card game can get! Congrats again on getting to worlds and we will all be rooting you on!
thank you Kev :)
I want to go to worlds so I have a slight chance to not pay 10x for that promo pika 🫠
I want to go to worlds to see my friends, binge sushi and play Pokémon. The 3 greatest things in life.
Woww to be able to go to japan and appreciate not only the culture but be able to access pokemon cards like never before would be AMAZING
To see the worlds in person would be the greatest thing ever! Seeing all these inspiring people live their dream and be together with those have that same dream wow its definitely exciting!
Great vid J - really really enjoyed this one! Thanks for taking the time to hang out on day 2
Going to Worlds Japan would be insane, not just because of Pokemon but also to see and experience the Japanese culture
My Japan trip in 2020 was cancelled due to covid. It would be amazing to go this year and learn more about playing the pokemon tcg
taking Pat's "every video a gift" line to heart :') absolutely incredible entertainment, thank you!
;D thank you mate!!
it would be a opportunity of a lifetime as we don't have pokemon tournaments in the country, we don't even have pokemon packs after 2007 :(
It has always been a dream of mine to go to Japan. I want to experience their culture and the food from a country so enriched in morals and dedication to their culture.
As a Japanese card collector and lover I totaly understand your wish and exitment for the Worlds in Japan !
Wish a day I could experience that as well.
Lovely day !❤
I was thinking about competing in regionals and recording my journey aswell and now I discovered your video, which is absolutly graeat produced btw. The part where you unfortunately forgot your pass and showed the map was so exciting.
I'am looking for a testing group online and around germany, because the next regional is confirmed to be in France. I hope I have better luck getting the one crazy prize card 😋
I'm kinda sad I missed out on the Worlds lottery, going to Japan would be SUCH a fun experience! But it'll be fun watching others' experiences for sure.
I've been collecing Pokemon cards since I was a kid and would love the opportunity to spectate the Pokemon World Championships 2023 in Japan!
I’d love to go cause it’ll be the most historic worlds since probably 2005. Great video btw, playing at a high level can be stressful! Good luck!
cheers mate, and good luck!!
Hoping to see vlogs of your experience competing in World. Going to World would amazing for someone coming to back into the hobby. Also seeing Japan is a goal.
What a rollercoaster. But what an inspiration to keep going, keep pushing!
EUIC was eye opening, I loved it and I want to compete more.
I want to go to worlds for the swag. As a Pokémon collector there’s no other way to get that champions festival card, deck box or mar!
Awesome video! I'm new to the competitive game, so going to Worlds would be nuts and an unforgettable experience!
I want to go to the Word Championship in Japan because I recently got into the Pokémon TCG and I think watching professionals play at World would help me learn and improve my skill!
Also since this is the first Word Championship in Japan (Pokémon's country of origin) that makes it extra special
Going to Japan to see the birthplace of Pokemon would be so cool. And getting the chance to go to PC in japan will forever be a dream. Same with worlds.
Respect the time you take for these videos and the educational lessons on the tcg, turning collectors like myself into competitors 🙌
never too late to start!!
I wanna attend because I want to cheer on my friends that qualified! (Like you :p) also I feel like being in the video should give me a bonus!
THIS! Every time you get me hyped for playing the tcg. I honestly think this video was insanely well edited and narrated. Keep it up Julian ❤
you legend deggers!!! glad ya liked it :D
Japan has always been my dream place to visit, the beginnings of Pokémon and Anime. I’ve not been to a world championships before so it’ll be a blast if given the opportunity!
Honestly been collecting cards for a bit and don’t even know how to play the actual game. Imagine going from zero knowledge to watching how the champions play. And also I’m from down under as well
Bro! You are INSANE! Fingers crossed that I get to see you at Worlds, I still havent given up yet, hoping to secure a pass >.
Forget playing in worlds. I want to be there when you win that NO.1 player card 😊
Bro your videos are super fun to watch. Love that you can explain gameplay while showing us what the events are like. Killing it bro 🔥
I am pretty new japanese collector and i would love to visit pokemon center japan in person. I just started playing the card game and would really love to see the worlds in person!
I want to go to worlds because Yokohama is next door to me in Tokyo, saving you lots of money yet I still get to go to worlds. I think it's a great deal.
would love to go to World's to see big senpai, trade cards, and speak broken japanese lol
going to worlds sounds incredible. it would be my first and probable only event of that scale to view! and to go to japan would be a different worldly experience.
also, would never be able to afford it due to medication/insurance cost lol. but its still a fun venture!
I respect the TCG scene so much. I respect what the community does for the community a lot like in this video what are you explaining. I never experienced an official event so I'm trying my luck and hopefully be in person at the venue
I've been considering getting into playing the TCG recently so this is a fun video! Worlds would be so cool to visit, especially this year since I've always wanted to visit Japan!
This has to be one of your best vids so far! This new format with educating us the audience with how the game actually works and the terms for them! Big ups to you
I want to go to the worlds because I have been collecting pokemon cards since 2000, but never got a chance to attend not even a regional tournament.
This was so well made i dont even play the tcg i just collect but this was fun and insightful!
I would love to go to Worlds because I've never been to Japan and being able to see the Pokemon at its finest at Worlds
Would love to do some side events with my friend at Worlds!
This was amazing! Better than anything Hollywood has put out in years. I'm cancelling my Netflix subscription - I'll just watch this on repeat instead.
I’ve been to Japan once and it was the most incredible trip of my life, I was very limited in doing all the nerdy stuff I wanted to last time so a chance at redemption based around Pokemon would be the dream
I want to go to worlds so I can see you and tell you in person…
“Your end date for the competition entry is before your start date”
And then wish you luck for world championships Day 1 😂
hahaha it’s such a bad typo. I do apologise 🥲🥲
It would be my first time in Japan as someone who's new to the hobby and an amazing opportunity to hang out with you! Would love to meet all the amazing Pokemon TCG players and witness the event of a lifetime, Worlds in Japan!!
I would love to go to Worlds! The reason is because I went to my first ever worlds last year, met up with so many people and made so many great memories. I met Chloe and Dean and I’m now working for them. These small choices and events can make such a huge difference ❤
Love this video! And dangit, I was so hype for you to get your 200 T.T Next time!
I’m from the UK so last years Worlds was the first I got to experience and now have the itch!
Never wanted to learn to play so bad after watching this video!
I want to go to worlds to bring the spice to day 1, do well in the tournament and make my family proud
being a pokemon fan for most of life, visiting the home of pokemon has always been a dream of mine. hopefully i can fulfill this dream soon :DD
I don't even play the tcg and the way you explain it is super informative and entertaining. As for japan, I wanna see you win😘
this was intense good work mate. i felt tired just watching the chaos
amazing vid hope u get the COP on that amazing card
This was such a high quality video, enjoy the content!
I want to go to World's because I've been wanting to experience Japanese culture, go to some card shops and see what a Pokemon event in Japan looks like!
I've been learning Japanese for the past few months and finding it super interesting.
I will speak in a strictly Australian accent with an “I love OKJLUV” shirt on if I go to worlds with you bro.
Well, I come from a family that doesn’t have much money. I’ve never left the UK, so to be given the chance, especially in a country where my ever growing love for a franchise that I grew up alongside would be an absolute blessing. Either way, best of luck & massive congrats to the winner!
I would love to go to Japan the origin of pokémon and meet up with so many friends i’ve made over the years in pokémon
Always wanted to go to Japan and love Pokémon. Would be fun to experience both in one go.
Can't wait for Japan, just need that spectator pass now to watch JLUV win it all
