January 27 2024 Maryland USA: Again another brilliant idea. The other day found your channel for the temperature blanket/quilt. I found the previous weeks weather and put it on the chart. I still have to go out for fabrics. I will be doing three at the same time for grandchildren. Handquilting is taking a front these days and it makes it so portable also. My days are very filled but spend time on making something. Thank you for your moltivation you give to many of us.

I’m happy you made this video with the large hexies because it was easier to see the “Y” seam joins than on smaller hexies. You made it look very clear.

Hello Rachel, I'm sorry you're aren't feeling well. I was going through the same thing, it turned into RSV, at 75 it wasn't fun, I ended up with heart and lung issues, so please see your doctor, don't let it linger too long.
I'm currently doing a 5" hexi, on the machine. I probably won't make it too large it's too complicated making all the "V" intersections.
Thank you for the lovely video.

I’m starting my first EPP project with hexagons during my winter break (I’m a teacher). Hello from South Dakota in the US!

Hand piecing looks really nice. I like that you can't see any stitches like you can with EPP. Thank you for explaining how to do the Y seam securely. A very Merry Christmas Rachel and I hope you have a wonderful time with family. 🎅🌲xx

I like that too! I find it easier on my hands too compared to EPP.. I must grip very slightly with EPP. Merry Christmas 🌲🧵❤️

You have inspired me to plan temperature quilt. Plan to use 1/2 square triangles with hexagons appliqued on for national holidays (red, white, blue prints) & silver print on white for snow days. Haven't decided if I'll do more special hexagons but my Christmas hexie is done!

I agree with you. I often think it takes longer to stitch pp hexies. Going to try some while I wait for Daisy & Grace templates to arrive from MSQC. Please don't get me hooked on another project!!! Pacific Northwest Washington.

How fun! I’ve just purchased a bunch of stamps at a half off sale including a large hexagon and am making myself finish this queens walk block before stamping any fabric. So tempted to start now😁😂🤣

I'm with you on using the knots. Making sure it is secure is so important. I was taught in America a slightly different knot. Your ending knot looks easier. I think I will try it and test it's holding strength. Merry Christmas to you!

Hi Rachel. Have you made a video of the Christmas dec on the door? I think it looks lovely and want to try and do Christmas things between projects.
Am about to start a baby quilt and this video I have watched has helped me a lot for joins.
Lots of people have colds that go on for an age so hope you have recovered now.
Hope you enjoyed your Christmas and all good wishes for a very happy and healthy New Year. Keep up with the good work and mayball your dreams come true xx 🎉🍾🥂😘

Hi Ann, I hope you are well and having a lovely festive period. The hanging star decoration on the door was from b&m in the UK a couple of years ago, but it is sticks arranged into a star shape and then foliage added. I am almost recovered now so thank you for your well wishes ❤️😀

Glad to hear you're on the mend. I have family in the UK especially, who have had grotty colds for 3 or 4 weeks !! X

So, every since you mentioned Stamps by Kate, I have been checking out her CZcams tutorials , website shop and her FB page. I am super close to placing an order so I start doing this type of slow stitching in the evenings after work. If you were going to order, what set would you choose? Just curious. As a newbie to this type of piecing I am not sure., Certainly not too small, I have RA and too small work makes my hands cramp and hurt. I can manage to quilt on my whole cloth quilt I am doing for at least 45 mins before ai have to put it down.

Her products look great don't they! I havent managed to order yet because of postage but I am fond of the thimble shape.. mainly because I'd love to do a whole quilt with that shape. But maybe try and think of a shape that you will use for multiple projects so you can get plenty of use out of it. ❤️🌲

I made hexagon like this in 1985. I did not know you were supposed to use papers to make the hexagon flowers. Regards from New Zealand.

Thank you.. they are by a brand called pyrm and I think they're called something like "comfort grip" ... hope that helps xx

What kind of pen (ink) do u use for ur guidelines for seam allowance & for the corner dots so it does bleed or stain in future wash?

    • @stitchwithrachel
      @stitchwithrachel  Před 6 měsíci

I just use a normal mechanical pencil, it leaves a very faint line but it will wash out x

  • @Kat-Knows
