If good and evil truly exist, it's hard to argue that Ezekiel isn't the "goodest" out of everybody that's ever been part of "our group." Maybe Tara. Luke's a contender. Aaron, maybe. EDIT: Catching up now. Just saw it the other day, but I loved the scene with Negan where he essentially said, "I rule with fear, and our captors are holding all the cards on that front. You rule with hope and that's what we need now. I need you, because I don't know how to do it your way."
Compare his story to the comics where he ends up on a pike which I was really scared in season 9 for Ezekiel if he was going to get his comic death but thank god. Ezekiel has always made me smile. “And yet I smile”
Ezekiel is by far one of my favorite characters in the whole series. He gets his inspiration from Shakespeare and incorporates every virtue Shakespeare believed inspiring kings had. Read any of his plays about kings and princes and you will see what I mean. I interpret season 8 as when his commitment to being king is very interesting because I get the impression that everyone around him knew Ezekiel was playing a king but that’s not why they follow him and folks like Carol and Jerry reveal the reasons why to him little by little. He became there king not because he played the part but because that was the role he needed to be so in their hearts and minds he is a king, and when you think about it how many of the real life kingdoms came to be, whether we are talking about King Arthur not real but not the point and Charlemagne, really they were just men who came to be rulers because of a correct series of events they were brought into and the moment itself called for their service. So, in that regard he is a king. I happen to be a history geek so if I over analyzed anything that’s why and feel free to disagree because he did “play” the king. I am just saying maybe in his mind that’s how it was but in his peoples minds maybe the fell for it at first but accepted him as such later on.
Sorry but I find his character so annoying! The way he talks as if he's from the 1500s and any episodes based around the Kingdom are yawn worthy and just silly.
No matter where he lives or what he does, Ezekiel is 100% king
