Metra In The Chicago Area - August 2023

During the summer of 2023, we visited the Land of Lincoln in a trip to the Illinois railway Museum. While out in the Chicago area, we also saw some Metra action.
First on our walk over to Pequod's Pizza, famous for its Chicago-style "deep-dish" pizza, we catch an outbound Milwaukee North District train in Morton Grove, Illinois. This train is powered by one of the former Amtrak Surfliner service F59PHI locomotives that once ran up and down the coast of California. Now they serve the Windy City's commuter service in hot summers and cold winters.
On Monday before we flew home back to the east coast, we stopped in Des Plaines, Illinois near the O'Hare airport. This is the former Chicago & Northwestern, today the UP Northwestern Line of Metra.
