I replayed the game recently out of nostalgia, that level is crazy hard. Your battery drains so fast with night vision that you can barely make any mistakes, and you have to build a super light droid with low battery capacity to manage the jump at the beginning of the level. No clue how I passed that one as I child, I even remember somehow finishing it without night vision. Maybe it's just another engine bug which increases the drain rate on faster pcs.

    You like that game :-)
I played it as a child and I built wooden models of the robots that I designed with that game.
I think that game had only 3 interesting missions.
Now I know why. They planned more, but ran out of time. It is partly also George Lucas fault.
He wanted that game to be for children, and for adults and for children again.
You got that bad ass evil robot on the cover, very child friendly cut scenes but also elements of horror movies.
It is a mess and a disappointment but the concept is great and it works as a sandbox-game.

    • @Halbi1987
      @Halbi1987 Před 5 lety +5

The guy who made that game is called Richard Green. He found me on facebook and told me that the game was supposed to be much longer, but they wanted to release it earlier.
So that's why a lot of real levels are missing. They made a very lazy Droid Factory level at the end, but this was not what they wanted.
Look how detailed the Droid model were and how much care was put into the system.
What you saw was just a part of a much bigger game that was never really made.

@@trclinkscales I posted the Space Ship from Star Wars Rebel Assault II in a scale model group.
It was supposed to be a joke, I made a really crappy model at age 14 out of wood.
And I wanted to show how bad it was.
And Richard Green saw it, and wrote "I like it, because I am the one who designed it".
He saw that I also made the droids from Droid Works.
He said that he had no idea that someone built physical models of his designs, and to see them was the greatest honor ever.

Oh really? It was meant to be longer? Yes I agree that the Droid factory was a little anticlimactic, especially all the hype that the game kept giving us throughout. It's cool that one of the Dev's contacted you though! Its a shame it wasn't what they wanted and had to cut out content.
I still really enjoy the game however and was fun going back to it! Yes it was majority training and then missions at the end, the final missions were good though and I remember when seeing the Assassin droid at the Phrik mines it scared me as a kid :P.

@@MoJPlays They had to release what they had in the middle of the game. It was supposed to be for Christmas 1998 but they released it much earlier.
They made a crappy ending to hide the fact that is was just half the game. But it was pretty obvious.
The Droid factory level looked as if they created it in 45 minutes.
The Droid factory was not "hidden" or something. Just lazy.
They could have been so much more creative with a factory hidden deep in the ground...
