Just to correct your guide the ghost do drop Is bags of ghostly gold coins. You have to give it a second and go back and look where you killed them and you'll find it.
Yes they added that an update after this video was released 😅
Edit: at the time of the video they didn't drop.
@@PhuzzyBond ok, cool keep up the good work. As a fellow player I find them fun and informative.
As cool as the new creatures are they really need to tone down the spawn rate
especially phantoms
Yesterday I was rowboating kehs from an fof and a phantom shot one of the kegs on the rowboat and blew me up. They were just vibing on an island I passed by. Lmao
Agreed
@@thatonepotatopotatogarden9125 they're really good shots, too
i've been gunned down swimming to my boat with a chest way too many times
Picaroon palms is the worst, i got 7 ghost crews and 15 attacks from ocean crawlers in under 10 minutes, i had to quit my voyage. Not to mention the attack from a skeleton brig.
I now know how to stop their shields and how to acquire the white and purple lights from ocean crawlers. Thanks Phuzzy this was a super useful guide.
Certainly a lot easier than simply storm chasing and hoping to be struck by lightning, even if the sword acts as a lightning rod when you have it out
Easiest Way To Complete Your Flame Collection, Snake Venom And Storm Lightning Are A Pain To Collect, Pink Flame Is Still A Pain
If you want to level Hunters Call. Now is the time. Do it before they fix the spawn rate
Just fish!
@@tylerwhalen7792 Why fish when you can commit murder ? Plus a gem is 1500$ and a fish is like 80$
@@thewildruda6113 fish assist in the murdering. Cooked fish = Overheal magic
You barely get a any gems for the hoard you have to kill on every island
The wrong fish is 80.
Didn't really care for this game when it came out.
Tried it about 3 weeks ago and now I'm obsessed with it. Still trash at it though, got sink a couple times, but that hasn't discouraged me.
I tried it 5 months ago and been playing every day since. My advice is watch a lot of Phuzzy videos for learning basics, find a good crewmate and try to play sloop with and learn from a veteran. Once you get comfy with all the basics, took me 2 months, then try Reapers and attacking ships or instead of running from other ships, try fighting back and you will get a little better after each battle.
don't give up on the game if it gets hard, my dude
the game can get difficult and frustrating at times, but holy crap this game is amazing
@@TheBalls2thewalls I’d say start attacking ships quicker. There’s no benefit to NOT learning PVP as soon as possible. I just started 2 weeks ago and me and my buddy always fly reaper. We took down a galleon on a sloop the other day and it was so satisfying
Same bro i started about a year ago and gave but now im playing it everyday
I just play pve and run away, still really rewarding
Ah, here's the juicy guide you mentioned! Thanks for the top quality content you deliver every time :D

1:50 if you want a ton to spawn spend like 10 seconds near a shipwreck and you will have the entire siren population spawn on you
Yeah everyone and their mother kept trying to get me... Luckily i had a trident of dark tides to deal with some of them
Great video, I noticed with the hermits if you stay behind them their poison will not hurt you
There is something regarding sirens I noticed: They seem to spawn guaranteed when near or inside shipwrecks, since every wreck I explored eventually announced their arrival with the cue of their wailing singing. They're rarer when just swimming as I've seen them rarely appear on the move, but near the wrecks as said or barrels the chance seems to be higher. This seems to tie into their lore of sinking ships: They linger around, eager to sink those greedy enough to try and plunder their "kill".
In insiders they could spawn near outposts. Haven't tried seeing if they spawn in retail yet.
The ghost are so annoying, at least the crawlers drop gems
A good tip to know is to fight them as though as they were other players (bunny hoping, double guns etc.) if you move around enough phantoms will almost never land a hit
Fortunately, they drop coin bags now
... but i still hate 'em
They really gotta fix the spawn rates of these things
The tip about the eel giving the white flame is awesome, was recently on a server and the storms were bugged with no lightning happening anywhere and we were stumped on the FOTD. Wish we knew about the eel then but now I now! Thanks phuzzy!
They need to fix the spawn rates
Or Just farm gold/use them to help killing skellies
You are probably one of my favorite CZcamsrs right now
he's my favorite SoT youtuber, period
@@kasioedits oh yeah phuzzy is definitely my favorite sea of thieves CZcamsr right now
I use Blurbs and this channel for guides and pvp clips. They are both really good and a collab would be cool, if they haven't already done so
From what I’ve seen when fighting hermits, you can prevent their poison cloud by circling them as you attack. They only seem to use the cloud when they’re facing you.
I think Rare said in the showcase the aura from the hermit heals the other ocean crawlers that would explain why it differed in damage
It is AMAZING how you analyze every aspect. I understand why you were so excited about this video. Its awesome!
Thank you for the great content Phuzzy!
OMGosh, thanks for this! I took a break from SoT and found all these new mobs and throwables so this helps me get over the learning curve much faster than "winging it".
The spawn issue I believe is that each AI encounter is set on their own spawn timer so the reason we are encountering more spawns more often is because each encounter is spawning on there own rates so the time before each encounter is less. they can fix this issue by putting each spawn on the same timer and then when the timer is up too randomly pick which encounter spawns and also randomly pick if more than 1 type of encounter spawns that way you can still see all the encounters interact with each other.
Great video. A lot of research was done here. Thanks phuzzy!
My first thought after doing Thieves Haven for the first time and after the update was "wow they sure had it easy last week" These mobs just kept coming sometimes. The best is when they fight amongst each other.
Nice video, Phuzzy - totally lines up with what I've been noticing. In my research, 1 direct cannon ball shot is enough to down a crab.
Awesome content video, thanks Phuzzy
really good info here, thanks phuzzy!!!
thank you Phuzzy for your time and dedication! very informative and excelent video! :)
Great vid thank you so much, you deserve so many more subs!
The health of skeletons is based on voyages in general. It gradually increases with voyage level.
As for ocean crawlers, they're funky. The eels also have a shockwave attack they can transition into when you get close while it shields its allies. Clams have a charge attack you need to watch out for - it can hit you from quite some way away to deter attempting to counter-charge it with a heavy sword attack. Crabs are fun, if you use a heavy attack on them and jump, you pass through them and damage them, triggering their attack but evading it.
So helpful and really interesting! Thank you for this! I'm so excited to fight more of these.
Good stuff. Enjoyed the breakdown. Thanks for the hours of work.
Thnx for this phuzzy, i hadnt played this game in a while and these new enemies scared the crap out of me when i looted a sunken ship XD
It's always a good day when phuzzy uploads
Very nice job Phuzzy
Thanks ! Thats a very easy way to get the white light !
Great Video.. like always!
its already known that the spawn rates are crazy but its cool that theyve added enemies with more details to keep in mind it kind of enhances the gameplay
I've observed that they all take reduced damage while attacking. Hence why spam-slashing while they're on the offensive tends to have not-so-harmless results.
Don’t think I have ever watched a Phuzzy video without learning something. Thank you brave pirate!
Great video, very meticulous.
Cool video,I have seen these ocean dudes brawling with skeleton dudes..I sit back and watch the show, then go to pick up the loot at the end👍😁
Phantoms will fight skellies as well
Cool😁
Good to know! I've never seen the Toxic Shield happen, so i was thinking it didn't exist.
I'm so glad for that update bringing that much new enemies. I hope Rare soon adds them to missions and world events, like forts and such.
Like Order of Souls missions to kill Phantoms, or Phantom Capitains (we have one in the tall tale, so it could be done the same way as Skeleton Capitains), and having fort waves containing multiple Ocean Crawlers, keeping us on our toes not to get zapped or hulk-smashed to the ground by those dudes.
And i just love the Sirens. Makes swimming across the map a real threat now, as they spawn in groups, takes lots of hits to die and can heal themselves and attack in a distance.
thanks, phuzzy!
Yaaay (Likes before watching)
After watching, my question how long where you on that island ? And yeah I got nothing on the crab mystery
It's REALLY fun being telebluss'd by a phantom I didn't know was alive.
Friends and I went to do the Revenge of the Morning Star Tall Tale. Not only we had to fight Graymarrow, but we also had to fight his ADS, about 5 waves of Ocean Crawlers, and 2 waves of Phantoms. It was not fun. Lucky, the Ocean Crawlers would fight his ADS, but that was only temporary relief.
Great guide, should help a lot dealing with these guys.
1:50 I think you can get sirens to spawn at sunken pirate ship wrecks. Whenever I go inside a ship wreck, get some loot and go back onto my ship, more than 1 siren has spawned (edit - at the ship wreck).
Had that happen too
thanks for putting this guide out, maybe the ocean crawlers will suck less now
Awesome video! This is the reason I don't get why so many people compare this update to the anniversary update. We clearly get so much more impactful content than we did in the anniversary update. That's just my opinion of course. I mean it wasn't until a week ago I realized we had fought absolutely nothing but skeletons since launch, until this update came out of nowhere and dropped three brand new hostile types, magnificent.
thanks you for this vid, very helpfull and informative =]
Hey Exo 😊 good to see you here, and you're welcome
Thank you. I was hoping somebody will come up with something that would help me against those guys. Appreciate your study and your wisdom.
wow such a good vid
As a PVE player, I just tend to deal with them from my ship. Pop on the Eye of Reach(if it isn’t already) and start taking shots. If it’s the Hermit or Crab, I just load my cannon and ask them to “block this, ocean freak.”
I always wondered where did the coral shield thing come from. Thanks to you, now I know how to deal with this :)
Edit: Thanks for hearting my comment Phuzzy!
I love that you can start a skeleton/ghost/crab war. really wish they let crawlers hop on deck while sailing though. They alluded to it in promo stuff so hopefully they're comin' soon
The spawn rate on these things is insane
Makes for great gem farming though; we were at a ship wreck and almost got more treasure out of farming sirens than we did from the wreck itself
One thing to mention skeletons holding kegs will try to kill green fantom this includes athena keg.
I guess the poison gradually heals them and I still have this theory where it can heal the others creatures too
The chances of a spawned encounter being ocean crawlers or phantoms is dependent on what voyage you have active, with higher level voyages and Athenas increasing their odds
They keep spawning inside my vaults, or sometimes just outside. Not that the gold hoarders vault ever gave much (solo) anyways, but now it really sucks. Just going to abandon them until friends are around or until they fix the spawning inside of the vault. (It has been a clammy boi each time so far) Great guide Phuzzy, going to push my hunter’s call for a while again. I just got my first ever shadow stormfish the other day, not trophy though.
Thanks for the science
Forget those Sirens bro. Every time I enter the water that music plays.
Nope I'm out
😂
Yesterday in the stream the firebomb didn't work that's because u were standing in the water it zaps u but if ur on land it wont and it was in the water as well so whenever u shoot him it zaps u or do anything it will zap u
I have been zapped many times by hitting or shooting these while nowhere near water, the only time I haven't been zapped is when I make sure I'm out of range of it.
I haven't tried the firebombs since I first noticed it doesn't ignite them so can't confirm, but knowing Phuzzy, he would have tested a few times before coming to this conclusion.
That expat that one phenomenon that happened on stream, firebombs never zapped me back except that on time, so standing on water makes sense . I'll test it further tho.
Have you tested damage felt directly to their Gems? I feel like I can take a Crab down with less shots if I aim for the gem.
That white flame is gunna be a lot easier to grab for a FOTD
Phuzzy, I think you have to play instruments below water to make Siren Leaders spawn and etc.
I was fooling around with a friend one day and we were playing instruments, them we started hearing siren calls and boom a bunch of them spawned.
I wonder if it differs what type of music matters.
Per say stitcher's sorrow would be more effective since the sirens singing is some sad music right? Just a thought
It would be better if they randomise the spawn as well so, when you are going to an island you don't know what foes you will encounter. At the moment you get all of them on you at once. They should just have one randomised mob type per island.
Nah I like when they fight each other
my guess about the hermit crabs maybe-hitreg issues is its breath damages players and heals its allies. noticed the crabs around it took a bit more damage than usual when i let the hermit spit around. the green shield it provides to the allies is the heal.
you can use the crab to push your boat if you get in a rut at an island. Me and a friend got stuck between a rock and a hard place and the crab's big slam attack pushed our boat back into the water.
I already thought that the skeletons were useless but i got used to them. Now its even more annoying. But i only do PvP maybe thats the point...
Long swim sneek attacks are quite impossible now without losing health and ammo due to those sirens. Loved that
skeletons, phantoms and ocean crawlers also can damage and fight each other.
This was proven when I stopped by Rum Runner Isle, after a tall tale and was lucky to encounter all 3 mob types.
I've also seen them fight each other. You could include how that works in a future video
I disagree with people saying they spawn too often. My experience isnt like that and theyre easy to deal with and im enjoying a finally diverse and challenging pve content.
Sirens spawn way less often compared to the crawlers and phantoms tho, I havent encounter any sirens since the new update.
Do a merchant voyage with a sunken ship. I haven't done a single one where sirens haven't spawned. Also they like to pop up with sharks after a meg kill.
Speaking of megs, has anyone tried the siren trident on a meg? It completely wrecks them.
I would be interested in any stats/feedback on the drop rate and the possibilities of farming for gems.
The sirens spawn when you have loot on your ship and jump in the water, they're very common on merchant lost shipments because of the loot that's inside the ship
I sure hope they add phantom Captains to the world!
I hope they drop things from order of souls quests. I'm almost done getting to pirate legend and it's so boring and hard now.
@@alistairschofield4599
Aye, I got PL by just doing things like Skelly ships and megs.
Thanks m8
And one well placed cannon shot will take out a Crab. At some place small like Chicken Isle and they're spawning 2 or 3 at a time I just stay on the ship and play "shooting gallery" and clean up the jewels as I can
the poison guy will be stunned if his charge attack hits a rock or a terrain
Yeah... But the hitbox for it is scuffed. so always stay as far as possible
Phuzzy, I hope to cross paths with you one day. I don't expect to stay afloat for long when we do, but I'm sure to improve from the experience!
The crabs shield will be stopped instantly if you attack the crash with anything with knock back. For example a blunder bomb or sword lunge
Thanks for this great video. Now if i am getting lights for FotD i wont need to go into the storm
you can use the electrical charge of the eel-ectric to trigger kegs due chain lightning effect and the more enemys next to it the more damage the charge does.. fe.. if you have 4 enemys next to an eel.. two charges of his eel kill all 5
Ever in doubt one good cannonball on the crab will do (unless shielded by another crab it seems invincible)
How long did it take you to get all those siren gems on the beach? Contemplating some hunters turn ins if it's efficient enough.
Has anyone else seen sirens faking being mermaids? I was fighting a ship in siren infested water, and I kept seeing mermaid smoke. No clue if bug or not, but I've seen some people talk about it.
I've encountered phantoms with more of a blue shade that take a few extra hits to kill.
Always when I stay on a island for at least 15 minutes I always find phantoms
The sirens spawn more at sunken ships people have commented about the spawn rate of each type of enemies on Islands being too high what's your opinion should they bring it down a little bit?
Just out of curiosity, how long was you on the island for to farm all those gems?
Dying to a Siren provides a blue flame of fate
The new tridents kill ocean crawlers really fast!
Not just ocean crawlers
I would like a video on predicting the phantom attacks. They consistently deal. A lot of damage to me while running loot. Nearly all enemies in the game you can simply run away from, but the phantoms seem to kill me a lot
Dealing with phantoms is a bit like dealing with players, only much easier. The only significant difference being that phantoms teleport every now and then. And they're far slower with their attacks than the average player.
I've not yet seen a definitive pattern to the teleporting, but I have seen them use it to chase players that are running, which might be why you're not able to escape them as easily as other mobs.
Each phantom has a sword and a ranged weapon which they swap between.
If a phantom has a sword out and is outside melee range but within lunge range, it will charge up a sword lunge with very similar properties to a player's lunge.
If you dodge or get out of range of the lunge, the phantom will be stunned just like a player that misses. It's also possible for them to get stuck behind a rock or other object while lunging so try to get something between yourself and the phantom if it's charging.
If they have a ranged weapon out, check what weapon type it is (pistol, blunder, sniper) and deal with it accordingly. (shoot blunder from range, get in close with sword against the other 2)
Also, you can get the blue flame by dying from a siren
When these guys first came out my computer could NOT handle it, if any new enemy spawned I would freeze up until it was dead. It was awful for solo but in a crew I could tell my crew mates that I am freezing up and they would then know that an enemy is spawning. That is fixed now thankfully.
I did 3 gold hoarders vault and everytime when the vault starts somehow the ocean mobs spawn right ontop of me. 1 will always glitch down to the vault and basically ruin my loot. At that point I just gave up and did the digging quest instead. And their spawn rate is ridiculous to the point I actually wished the game didn't get an update.
I just commented something similar!! Happy (and sad for the ones doing vaults) to know that it’s not just me. I’ve been doing solo vaults, which aren’t the best loot anyways. I just enjoy the adventure. There always seems to be one clammyboi that spawns inside and just ruins everything. Absolutely needs to be fixed. Also had a vault that I finished off and was about to transport loot from the vault hallway to my ship. Sadly there was a splodydude was around the corner and I was low from the clammyboi. Splodydude slammed the ground and finished me off before I even knew he was there. When I got back, the first vault door was closed, so I only got one chest from it. >.> Good luck out there! :)
@@warryen guess it wasnt me alone. They need to fix it asap :|
@@warryen hey if you want to play some time my tag is RiceTC and I'm from England, just asking because Ik this game can get a little boring on your own!
Anyone know the music in the intro of the video? I know it plays when you return from the Sea of the Damned in the Pirates life tall tales, but can't find it/the name
Pro tip: a direct blunderbuss shot (all pellets must hit) will kill the crab inmediately... This does not apply to the other ocean crawlers. So if you find yourself surrounded use a blunderbuss
About the Hermit Ocean Crawlers... I can confirm without a doubt: they are annoying!
I say its the eel-ectric ones that are annoying. Hermits the least of my concerns
Hey, what are those gloves you're using? They're super sick
You get these when you hit pirate legend.
