This quick and easy tutorial will help you use the new features for easing 3d shading! - Krátké a kreslené filmy
"Use black for shadows" truly gives me nightmares, but for the look of early 3D models, it makes perfect sense!

Bro you artists are way too much. SHADOWS ARE BLACK, THEY HAVE ALWAYS BEEN BLACK, WHAT ARE YOU GUYS COMPLAINING ABOUT EVERY TIME SOMEONE USES BLACK FOR SHADOWS
@@Foxtrot_Alphathe way we precieve colors in the real world isnt usually as obvious as we were tought to belive. Shadows on something like sand often look blue due to the warmness of the sand so often times us artists will use colors other than black to shade to make the drawing more visually interesting and translate real like into 2d better. Kinda like impressionism. Beginner artists often dont grasp this concept and color with a hard black in a piece that would be better with a softer color and although shading black isnt always bad thing artists will often associate harsh black shading with their beginner work which can have a negative connotation. Hopefully this helps you to understand what we mean when we say niché nitpicky things like this :)

Little piece of advice, blues and purples look a lot more natural when shading. This still looks really good!
I'd never imagine that someone would give advice to the official flipaclip yt channel

OMG thank you, thank you, oh my God, I've been always wondering used to color in one space, oh my goodness, this saved my life
Always add some colour to your shading. Select a darker and more saturated version of the base colour and even tint it warmer or darker to suit it, it makes shading look much better

it definitely depends on your style but yeah if you're looking for your shading to look brighter or more saturated you shouldnt use black and hue shifting is your best friend. the thing is here pomni has so many areas that use 2 colours, that with how it's done in this video you can't really get to shade them individually. being able to use a clipping layer on multiply would work better. and if you were to use black on those areas and then custom shading colours on say the skin and hair, it would probably look mismatched
overall alpha lock isn't always the best for shading lol

I've been told by an artist to use light yellowish colors for brighter shading and a dark blue for darker shading
warmer for highlights and colder for shadows

@@clarittal It's actually proven in nature though, black shadows make stuff look muddy.
Though, I must agree that any way in shading knows it's own ways of actually being correct, especially in both sunlit and artificially highlighted scenarios, like you're at home where lights are cold, yet you can see the warmth of the sun outside. You could also use incorrectly used lighting to portray things that aren't actually there in a scene. Like a ghost is cool colored despite everything around being warm. Not sure about scenarios where black could be correct, but it is good to be used in hard shadows. Pure black is truly ugly to blend on the canvas, that's no doubt.

Glad I found this channel, as I'm starting to animate more often and I use FlipaClip!
Quick tip! : Instead of using black as shading for everything, use the color that your drawing on a but dranker and use that as shading!
and even better if you use the base color and add a little bit of red/blue (whichever one is closer)
as a 3d modeler, honestly it really depends on your lighting!

you can also just use a singular dark color to create ambient light and give the feeling of the room around the character
(also if you use black then its a good idea to do hard shading, black soft shading usually doesn’t look lively at all)

As someone who hasnt ever wasted money on flipa premium, i rather go through the hard way, than spend money
I've been using flipaclip for ages, i think it was about 2019 when i started to use it. I remember colouring things and thinking 'man, i wish there was clipping, or alpha so i could shade easier!' and im so happy seeing that its finally a thing :)
