I just started this game 2 month's ago on PS4 and had a hard time finding active players, so i come up with this tactic by building nukes and send friend requests to the players who steal my nukes, lol.

I've had mgsv since 2018 and have never been attacked and minded my own business with the FOB events. This all changed about a week ago, when I suddenly got an influx of attackers so thanks for this awesome guide!

Is camera/mine free placement only a thing on PC? Have never seen that and have been playing this for 2-3 years (ps4)
@@Thomas-jq9sb I've never played it on PC, but go to Security Settings, select a FOB and then a platform --you should see it right under Basic and Advanced Settings.

I just picked this up on Steam a few weeks ago. Been going slow, doing the side ops, trying to stockpile some staff and cash. I'm about to hit mission 22 and I just want to say this was very helpful, I"m sure I will be coming back to this several times going forward. Thank You!
The knowledge about containers completely hard-countering a non-lethal base has led to a sudden uptick in S++ ranked soldiers. 10/10 advice.

This vid and previous is really making me wanna play more of FOB mode, the amount of information and how you segmented and explained really seems so simple in the amount of it. I don't expect myself to stay and play mgsv that long, but those two videos really brought me more intrest. I had the game since 2021 and got it to 100% achievments, played around some FOB but never put much thought into it. But now, even with those random tips i feel less lost in this mode and I thank you for effort you put for those videos. It was a good watch.

I just finished the story mode now Im getting into this FOB stuff and Im finding that your videos are the best at explaining this type of stuff. Playing in 2021 , Never finished the game prior, and i finally did. Started playing FOB mode and was shocked someone came to defend the other day, i beat the defender and fulton him and i was so relieved for a second and not knowing they could respawn, he put the smack down on me the second time LOL. Great video very informative and will put this information to good use.

Wow I wish I watched this before I did the exact opposite of that. I'm playing this game for the first time and just unlocked my first FOB. So of course I started to build up all the platforms at once.

I constructed 3 FOBs right away 😅😢 i just wanted more staff in game. Time to study these guides cause i dont get to play too often and am worried everytime i log in. I've opened up retaliation wormholes but according to the profiles, they havent played in a few years.

I love this game so much,grind it infinitely on lunch, and still return to it from time to time. I’m just sad that this could be one and only game with these qualities. I just wish some other developers or whoever to create anything like this game.

Literally started constructing a nuke then saw you first guide for fob and stuff where you said that building a nuke would decrease your heroism by a lot and put a lot of bad karma, and then i tried to stop it but it had already been contructed, i mean i had already built a nuke for the achievement a long time ago but then left the game for quite some months and forgot everything about nukes, anyway and exactly 10 minutes after contructing it a guy ghost's my fob LITERALLY 10 FREAKING MINUTES and i was so mad because not only did i lost 50.000 heroism and gained a lot of bad karma but also lost my nuke,shit if only i had seen your guide earlier, but anyway you my friend please keep doing this awesome guides seriously you rock.Also it would be really nice to see you doing more in depth about farming and grinding resources and some more in depth why not having s++ soldiers, and is there anyway of having top tier soldiers and lots of nukes without gettimg raided all the time?

Good vid, u made some strong points about FOBs building that I'll definitely use, but my only question here will be about grinding, What's the best way to grind for resources such as "fuel, common materials, etc...? because as you may know building FOBs and stepping up security can literally sucks you resources dry.
Best ways to grind raw resources include running FOB Event, Combat Deployments (online), and invading other FOBs.

@@Falcon197 you can also grab resources crates from the main story and waiting an hour to grab the resources again. If you try grabbing the resources in free roam you would have to complete 4 main missions in order for those items to come back.

I grinded a lot on ps4 and had all the fobs. Not sure about how many platforms but all my staff was all S to S++. I got a PC and started playing again. It's good and I'm enjoying it however I don't like the hackers on PF rating. Glad someone pointed it out at least. Also, the controls aren't best for pc. I can't change all of them and had to use auto hot key to make sprint my side mouse button. Overall I love understanding the story more this time around. Just a shame the pc version didn't get much love.
i freshly restarted this game about a week ago and it saved that i have already purchased water so i got my fob's back...only one platform each tho!...it also saved all the online materials i had but not the staff

I just got infiltrated for the first time today because I just bought my second FOB. I only had one platform and I quickly got on to defend and saw the enemy. He was playing as Quiet and I started shooting at him and he was able to hide. I went to run around the wall so I could see him better and I fell down the fucking 4 floors to my death. I was so fucking mad.
This guide is worth its weight in gold. Thanks to this video, I finally started FOB’s last year (had the game since launch, but avoided FOB’s like the plague.)
Thankyou for the solid video. You explained many things that for a new player weren’t so obvious when they first start out. Nowadays, I run maxed NL defence and still have a blast on either SC or nuke tab.

When you use NL, what ranges do you go for on the different platforms? I’m finding conflicting information on short, medium or long - both lethal and non-lethal
@@EmDaMo There's no one answer to this. Depending on the type of platform, the skill level of the guards, and the grade to which you've researched advanced equipment, each of the different range presets for NL weaponry may prove more or less useful.
@EmDaMo either NL close or Mid range are the best. I’m slightly in favour of mid because their rifles are just too good at stunning invaders. I frequently go on security challenge and 90% of the time, before I even arrive, the game is over. They’ve managed to stun and extract the guy for me and I didn’t even have to shoot.
Close range always works, since they rush attackers and use both shields and OP shotgun. The only I don’t is this give the attacker leverage to cqc them, since they’ll naturally be closer to the invader.
All in all, it’s your choice which one works for you.
@@Fake_Natty I currently only have NL short range on my support, R&D and intel platforms because there’s so many narrow stair- and walkways where the shields and the K.O of shotguns seem optimal. I’m considering changing the R&D to long range NL tho, since the snipers would have the upper hand before the player has a chance to get close, even if said player camps out on containers or pipes with a sniper rifle, because the sleep gas/stun delays them enough at a range to hopefully have the timer against them.

I'm still learning FOB infiltration from your other video and I've gotten fairly decent at the events. I have done a few real players but I never really thought about the FOB Team functions.
I know you said everything is preference, but have you considered a video on recommended weapons that have been more effective than others? One thing I always take is the Hand of Jehuty. I know it seems a cheap tactic, but what are your thoughts on it?
When u infiltrate FOBs successfully, do the soldiers taken get put into the brig (FOB)? And if so how do I unlock them to transfer them ?
Yes, and it all happens automatically. As long as the owner of the base you took them from doesn't hit you back and rescue them by reaching your core, they will be added to your forces after spending time in the FOB Brig. The amount of time depends on their skill level. Higher = longer.
The security cost...is that something charged daily weekly monthly? How does it work?

amazing video! i definitely learned alot in 30 minutes! just 1 question though: How do you specifically arm and equip your security on all platforms? i get developing the weapons first, but to actually equip them with what i need them to have is kind of troublesome.

How do I prevent retaliation? I heard it was not getting caught, and also I heard its not killing at all but idk if thats true
Mostly correct. If you reach the core without triggering alarms, the base owner will not be given the option to retaliate. However, getting caught won't always enable retaliation either. It depends on things like how long you've been infiltrating the base and how much damage (killing guards, destroying turrets / cams / etc) you cause. If you get caught on a high profile base and have ghosted your way without killing anyone or breaking anything, there's a chance you could suicide and not generate a retaliation. I've seen it happen.
i just started a new game i beat up to level 33 however in my fob there is no nuke section yet so i cant steal or see if any one has any, but i can now develop them??? plz can you tell me how this section in fob becomes available? i have 48000 heroism so far?
150,000 Heroism is needed to achieve Hero status and unlock the ability to invade nuclear FOBs
Hey Falcon, will you ever make a video about your thoughts of how FOBs are handled, in terms of the meta and balancing issues FOBs have gotten?
It's hard to say this, but I think we're past the point where Konami plans to implement any further major updates. The game has pretty well matured, and most of the community has moved on. So the only real way to face the imbalances is to accept and work around them, if possible.
What's the platform with the biggest active player-base in FOBs, PS4 or PC?
Hey Falcon, I could ask you some questions about mgs5 and fobs in general?
1) To infiltrate an FOB, what could the best uniform be?
2) Is it better to invade during the day or at night?
3) Many players can bypass the security devices with a little logic, exploration, and alternatives. How can I best defend the base?
4) You mentioned FOB events. For now I'm buying recruits from there, even if I try my hand at invasions. There are events that repeat every two weeks, but will the recruits be limited or could I buy more (for each event of course)?
5) I noticed there is a 10 minute time limit on many fobs. Is it due to the security systems, or is there something else?
6) There are two things that worry me most: being spotted and the arrival of the defender. When can a defender arrive to defend? Can shooting cameras or UAVs be right? I do it sometimes.
So many questions...I'll do my best to answer:
1) Uniform and gear depend on your objective and strategy; if you expect to take hits or raise alerts, Battle Dress is best. If being stealthy is your goal, Sneak Suit or Square camo fatigues work well but can't absorb much damage.
2) Night lowers enemy visibility. Daytime infiltrations award higher score for success and make it easier for you to see.
3) Base defense is never 100% - anything can be overcome by good strategy and smarts. The most you can do is understand how to create obstacles on the most likely paths intruders will use and try to make their job as difficult as possible.
4) You can only buy so many S++ recruits of each type. S+ are practically unlimited, if memory serves.
5) Time limit is determined by the overall strength of the enemy's security team. Nothing you do can change or extend it.
6) Defenders can only enter when they receive an alert. Damaging their base, killing staff, or being spotted increases the chances of an alert going to the base owner if they are online. If they are offline, no worries unless a friend comes to defend their base. If you're on PC, check the base owner's Steam profile before attacking to see if they are on.
Why are hackers allowed to do whatever they want to do on the PC version? They've patched farming methods, wall glitches and the ability to extract your own nuke, but no effort into stopping hackers?
Why is there the number 11 at the top right where the sniper rifle is? Should I develop just one level 11 weapon, or should I develop as many weapons of that level as possible?
If all you want is the level 11 sniper rifle, then just develop it.
So i'm been invading some high lvl FOBs and recently the defender came like 30 seconds after I stepped on his base. Didn't even alert a guard or anything. Was it the battery vaporization from drones? I'm so confused :(
Even now, it's still not 100% clear what can trigger an intruder alert to defenders, but I think it's either a timer (after x minutes in the game it triggers), or it goes off when you cause ANY damage to the target base.
Fantastic video! I just had a question: if you have a section of your fob with some low levels, and then fulton higher ones in, do the lower ones get replaced or do you have to get rid of them manually to make space beforehand?
18:07 - As long as you are bringing in higher ranked staff and cycling out the lower ranked ones, you should eventually see more of those high ranks on your FOB. In the event you don't have enough of a certain level of staff in a selectable bracket (EX: A - B) the game will auto-fill any slots that can't be fully populated by the bracket of staff you have available. In other words, if you go in the Security screen and try to select A - B guards to fill 50 slots on your platforms and there's only 40 staff on your Security Team, the game will fill the remaining 10 slots with lower ranks from Security Team or generate E rank guards to top off. At least that's what I remember.

Great video, but i'm wondering one thing.
Just returned back to MGSVTPP, wanted to start over so I deleted my save and started again.
Since in my previous playtrough i had all FOB's maxed out, now im stuck on 4 FOBs with 1/4 command platform only.
Do you recommend in this case to level up 4/4 Command platform on all FOBs first ( might be difficult due to materials cost on final FOB ) or focus on fully maxing out each FOB first?

Can't defend my F.O.B. players attack it a d it gives me no option to defend it. And the one time I got to, spawned end at the start, saw him on platform 1 of 4. Mission failed, he got into my core without leaving the first platform. No wormhole portal in it either.
hey, if you are using KB+M how do you switch your weapons, especially thouse 3 and 4? I find it so clunky and not precise to use a mouse wheel if i say need to select something from the support weapons / items? Thanks!
Mouse wheel is clunky for cycling inventory, which is why I use macros linked to my Num keys so I can just swap to a specific slot. My control layout is ... uncommon to say the least. But it works.

Why can't I buy troops when I do the event?
It says "you just can't do it."
How do high level fobs get populated with E rank guards? Edit: every fob I infiltrate is nothing but E rank. My settings are set to E but it still populates mine with S rank.
That can either be a glitch on the stats screen, or it means the owner has insufficient staff assigned to his Security Team - which could a result of them dying to infiltrators or being abducted.
Now I'm wishing I saw this guide before buying 4 FOB's at the same time… Well, the game isn't as popular as it used to be, so I'm hoping that I won't lose too much.
Those FOB hackers that got infinite hp or smth, any way to counter them? I can only think of fultoning them after blasting them with non lethal shotgun, or use the fulton rocket launcher and hope for direct shots(ofc HOJ will help with buying time)... Does fulton rocket launcher even work on invaders? Ive read that its pretty much only way to counter invaders who got energy wall up

Fulton launcher only works if you get a direct hit, but the best strat against hackers is a knock-out followed by a fulton. Throwing them in the water is also effective, as they have no way to get back up to the platforms.
Rather limited options, but at least they work, glad to know that, better than having no way of countering them.
Heh, i wonder how fulton launcher from close range after HOJ attack will work, sounds like sure way of sealing their fate , given they bother to stick around instead of doing their usual stuff.
Thanks for the guide once again, the mgs5 doesnt really explain much, especially when it comes to FOB , starting to get better understanding of the FOB overall. I was rather surprised that people still play mgs5 and do FOB, thought there would be hardly any activity at all, if not for none.
What's your recommendation for farming fuel for platform expansion?
Attack enemy FOBs and focus on farming fully developed Support platforms. They award lots of fuel for successful infiltration and there may be red fuel shipping containers you can extract.

What's the best weapon to give lethal guards then? All snipers?
It depends. What weapons your guards use will affect how well they handle types of infiltrators. Snipers will do well enough countering players who try to be stealthy and clear platforms with sniping or gas. Medium-ranged guards will deal consistent damage to stop riot shield-on-back runners or players using Quiet. Close-ranged guards stand a better chance against players going heavy assault. Obviously the outcomes factor how skillful and adaptive the enemy player is, and the skill level of your guards also governs their performance, but these are the general strategic considerations.
Question: how do you know that your FOB's been infiltrated? (if the enemy wasn't spotted)
You should still get a damage report afterward. There will be a notification when you login that your FOB defense failed, and you can see what happened in your Security Settings (on the platform selection menu), which replays the path of the infiltrator. You can get the name of the infiltrator and a success/failure log on the Intruder in the FOB screen.

Hey Falcon I have 1 question if I never developed a nuclear bomb am I safe from raiders?
No. Your FOB can be raided from the moment your first FOB core platform is created after Mission 22. By not building nukes, you drastically reduce your odds of being hit, but it doesn't keep you off the radar of other players relative to your ESP level.

why are my fob 1 and 2 maxed out have only 36 guards? many have like 70 and not maxed out wtf?
i have 4 fobs 3 are completed and the 4th is all most done and i cant get more then 36 guards on the fist 3 fobs. on the platform 1-3 i have 8 guards and the 4th has only 12 guards, many other people have 17 on the first 3 decks and 24 on the 4th and they are lower leveled? i dont understand plz help lol

you can only have 8 guards on deck 4-3 and up to 12 guards on deck 1 (final platform) = 36 guards
the rest are decoys placed on the platforms
Tip: remember to train in your fob to understand the weak zones
Any idea how to get fob security level to 60?
I'm always being attacked not that I don't mind I've just been stuck at 59 forever.

Sometimes giving your guards the long range/sniper loadout increases the FOB level. Maybe give that a try, if you have max tech unlocked for their loadouts.

I've got the level 7 ua drone, level 8 grenades, grade 8 antitheft, grade 8 gun cam, grade 8 cam making device, grade 8 AM MRS-MR, Grade 7 MRS-71, Grade 8 hand grenades, grade 7 ALM 48, and grade 7 battle dress like that's not enough?
I see some people with grade 8 level 60 fobs just don't know how

MGS5's online activity has slowed considerably in the past year. While there is a steady stream of newer players, the community isn't anywhere near as active like it was in 2016-17. Still, you can find the occasional nuke base and the leaderboards for the top 500 players turn over regularly. For myself, I'm sitting comfortably in the top 1000 and I occasionally play. MGS5 isn't a game you can ever really tire from, but I play mostly FPS now like Halo and MW.

10:50 Only now do I realize this serious mistake and I have paid some consequences - fortunately not significant ones like some S and A++. Right now I'm playing intensively to get resources and more GMP then I'll build multiple platforms.
Is invading high-level FOBs really that difficult? For the moment I do fob invasions that aren't too complex, but you need experience and patience
After personally invading probably 20 of the top 100 players' bases, including #9 in the world, I promise it can be tough - but you're right about experience and patience. Rushing almost always leads to mistakes, which leads to detection and failure.

I havent watched the full video yet but how can i make them use the weapons i want? I want my guards to use the killer bee
The only way guards will use the bee launcher is if you set their loadouts to Lethal with Medium Range / Assault weapons
@@Falcon197 they still use the assault rifle do i need my killer bee to be a higher grade than the assault rifle?
@@Alexandra8620 If they aren't using it when you have loadouts set to medium ranged lethal, then that means you haven't developed high enough grades for the launcher for the guards to use. Check your research queue under the launchers tab for a Honey Bee that's labeled green and research it to unlock it for your security teams. This also applies to any other weapon or armor development.

@@Alexandra8620 Research battle dress to unlock it. To equip the helmet / balaclava you have to play as a staff member other than Snake / your avatar and equip Battle Dress. Use the Sortie Prep.
