  • There are two very different mindsets when it comes to displays on EMTBS. On one side - the more minimal, clean cockpit, on the other - the data and display approach. In this video, with the help of Bosch, we'll be taking a deep dive into what it takes to turn your E Bike into a fully connected Smartbike.

    The Nyon is fabio on my 2020 Moterra, suggest those that have one turn around the bracket fixing so it slopes towards you , almost flush with stem edge, the fixing plate switch the right way and you have just saved yourself from 80 percent less potential screen damage. Your welcome. As my first Nyon21 cracked from a slow knock, a protective case is also essential, i found new new one on ebay low cost max protection. Hope this saves you money and makes more Nyon 21 available in 2021.

      I agree. I just bought the computer that is available and really the only thing additional is a heart rate monitor which I haven't been able to connect to. Also it doesn't automatically turn on when you start riding

  • @deanrwilson
    @deanrwilson Před 2 lety +1

    As for displays it depends on how you are riding? For example if routing a new destination and you don't know the way you'll need some form of navigation. If you are jumping or MTB riding in an environment you already know you may not need a display. You may also want your health data, heart rate etc if you are trying to beat your times. There's lots of reasons for having a display but times when you don't.

  • @BDX55

    The one issue I have with the Topographic Range on the map is that it is one way. Most likely you are going to ride to a location and then back to where you started. It doesn’t do that so effectively not much use for most rides. I suppose you could find a spot roughly half way to the edge of the area but surely it wouldn’t be that difficult for it to have a round trip option so it can indicate where you could get to and back for the battery charge and riding mode.

  • @lucienbenoitlacombe1073

    Hello Steve
    You can rotate the support upside down to minimise the nyon exposure it's better... I use this one since around one year, you can put your own GPX inside and.... follow the track !!

    My issue with this type of tech is that the pure fun and sense of freedom of being on a bike outdoors can become more about monitoring your health, heart rate, cadence etc. I have a purion display and a Garmin Edge 130 for navigation and that's perfect for me. If you want to monitor everything via tech just get a Peleton.

    Had the original Nyon for about 4 years now.
    It's not bad for most thing, but it's truly horrible for navigation, for the first couple of years it was a worthless feature, and the feature I got it for! :(
    Thankfully Bosch had done a tie in with Kamoot, so grab an account and plan you're roots with that.

    • @mattmcc72
      @mattmcc72 Před 2 lety

      I should expand on that. The on screen display works great. It's the root planning that is really bad. Need to ride along a dual carriageway or even just cross over one? Nope, riding a dual is "unsafe" (quote from Bosch.) So is (was?, not sure) not supported by the app.
      From my last home, I was on a one way road with a roundabout at the end, connecting to a dual. The Bosch navigation system would not plan a route from my home. I had to ride through the roundabout, stop and then start the navigation for it to work. And then ONLY if the place I was going didn't require me to cross another dual.

      @@russellbaker7098 check my other comment here, it does not route over bike lanes or shared roads, it's main job, ha. There are 3 bridges, all with bike lanes connecting Brooklyn, NY to Manhattan and it routes me to a ferry! Even worse, if you import a route from another app, it forces you to all checkpoints. Say if you have a route to get to work and you are a few feet or even a mile ahead from where it thinks you should start, it will route you backwards to the start before proceeding forward. It is the worst thing ever, I used to have the smaller Kiox display that could at least charge my phone while mounted to my bars, now with such a huge screen on the Nyon and no USB out/charge, I cannot use my phone for nav without my sleak bike looking like a convention of gadgets on the handlebars! I hope Bosch fixes the navigation soon but with their newly released Smart system I'm guessing Nyon, even though it's just a year old, will not get the attention/updates it desperately needs anytime soon.
