Take photo's of every box you ship out with it's label showing, that way you have a copy of the box you are sending out , so if any queries you can send them a picture straight away, soon as you know the customer has the package you can delete the picture, it's a good way to keep a track on your shipped items:- but yes not good, i've never had any issues with yodel direct when sending to ireland touch wood but yes just contact the customers and let them know what is going on as in it's not your fault.

I’ve been going a stage further, I now message each buyer before I post their parcel to thank them for their order, to advise which service I’ve used and I include a photo of the parcel with the label on it. About a 3rd of them reply before they receive the parcel to say thanks and my positive feedback is running at around 35% of sales which I believe it pretty high. Not only that, it also fends off any issues with unhappy customers leaving feedback without communicating with me. I’ve even had a positive feedback from a customer who returned their item because we had already been chatting and she was happy with my no quibble approach to her return request. It takes maybe 30 seconds to send the message and picture and I appreciate I’m only doing small numbers, a couple a day so I have time, but it’s working for me. Fortunately I haven’t used InPost lockers since Yodel took over and having heard about this issue, I’m sticking to Royal Mail for now….

My heart bleeds for John. I have had first hand experience of courier theft and subsequent fraudulent cover up. I choose my terms extremely carefully being a retired solicitor who also at one time ran a substantial eBay shop as a sideline. In my case, in the last instance, I booked through 'Pacel2Go' using Evri as a sub-contractor. This is not the place to recount the crime, particularly as it went on for many weeks, but I will mention two things: Several false photographs of DIFFERENT delivery doorsteps were produced as 'proof of delivery!' Finally, I only received recompense after issuing legal proceedings, even though I had paid for full insurance. Before then I had only been begrudgingly offered a postage refund! The fraud was so blatant that in theory the police should have got involved, but of course as everyone in business in the U.K. knows the police are lazy and when remedies lie in both civil and criminal jurisdictions they cry that it's only a civil matter and not their concern! And of course Trading Standards are nowadays a waste of space. In the U.K. crime is very profitable as punishment has become a dirty word.

Yodel are really good up here, luckily we know our local driver and she's great. However, when I lived in Solihull/Birmingham, it was literally 50/50 as to whether we received anything from Yodel, we used to kick off to Amazon and was baffled as to why they used them for parcels.
One day we were around the back, and by the time we got to the front, because they didn't think we were in, they were opening the parcel! Yodel steal parcels all the time. The drivers (used?) to work on commission, and it's costs them more to travel to some addresses than they make, so they just nick parcels left right and centre.

Decent honest buyers will be happy to pay you again for anything that was refunded and subsequently delivered. There will always be some though that are happy to get the refund and the item for free.

I had 10 parcels go missing from inpost lockers last year but it was on 2 separate days. I contacted packlink who investigated but just said Hermes lost them. How do they lose 10 parcels from lockers over 2 days? They went in and then no more history. Inpost confirmed they were taken out but then nothing. That has to be theft.
I opened a claim for all 10 and got my money back because I'd bought all the post from packlink on eBay so they knew what the items were.
It wasn't a great deal of money but the items weren't replaceable.
Luckily all the buyers were very understanding when I apologised and explained the situation.
In my mind they were stolen and nothing was done, no investigation. Just blatant theft.
Your buyers should accept this is not your fault and cut you some slack, we can only pack the items and trust that they get to their final destination, we can't control what happens to them on their journey.

yes, i read various legal sites, they have paid out on legal claims just fine. It's if you can be arsed to go through with it. You'd have to write to them, probably recorded / signed delivery, and maybe email them, and give them 14 days' notice of your intent (letter of intent) to take them to a small claims court. Then during the 14 days, fill out on money claim online, so that when the 14 days has passed you can pay the fee (fees i think would be payable by parcel 2 go when you win) and then parcel2go decide if they want it to go before a judge, and I'm not sure what costs that incurs them, as they would have to pass this issue to a legal person, so it seems they pay to get rid of the issue. That's stuff i read a couple of years ago.

My experience of parcel 2 go has been hit and miss. They tell you through the process now what can and can't be insured (but back in the day they didn't so you were insuring things that can't be insured anyhow). So naturally, a 90£ crt was smashed up by parcel force, but they wouldn't refund, just postage maybe? Then i had a massager go missing in hermes warehouse, someone probably took it for their misses as it never went past warehouse scan, which was 59£, and they didn't refund. At the time i was thinking of opening a small claim against them as various legal people seemed to say that there should be a basic level of service whether you insure or not, as you're paying, already, for them to take your parcel to the customer, and that you should not then have to pay an additional fee, on top, to prevent a sticky-fingered employee from taking your stuff home. It all depends on how arsed you are, i never got around to it and i think it would have lost me more than 150£ in time. I am very reluctant to use inpost now i hear it is being run by yodel, they are the worst of the worst, Hermes parcel shops will get much more rammed now. At least if you do use inpost through ebay, there is a basic 25£ insurance. I typically only use parcel 2 go now for 1-2kg items, as packlink wants something stupid like 4£.

Just charge for postage then use Royal Mail. That solves your problems. The only reason to go with cheaper alternatives is if you’re doing free shipping. Any buyer worth their salt will happily pay a little more for a better service and when I say service I’m not on about the seller I’m on about the courier you use. Royal Mail/Parcel Force all the way.

Maybe copy and paste the tracking info to each buyer that shows you have dispatched the items and its stuck with Yodel somewhere.
