  • I`ve been wanting to try one of these out for awhile now.
Finally got one and I must say it`s a really cool rod!
Fiberglass construction, 6 ft 6in 2 piece rod with medium moderate slow
    action.
Basically it`s a big yellow floppy noodle but that`s not a bad thing, it`s actually a good thing i think. It allows the rod to really load up on casting light lures.
Super fun rod to fish with and for $24.99 it`s s great deal. It handled medium sized bass and pickerel like a champ.
Good rod to have around for backup or a tagalong rod-less friend.
Sofar I`m really impressed with it. Time will tell though.

The last time I owned an Eagle Claw rod was about 2001. I lived in Denver where the Eagle Claw HQ was located so Eagle Claw stuff was really cheap there. I had two 5'5" rods for trout fishing.
Now my shortest rod that I have is seven foot and there are no trout anywhere around where I live I mostly catch catfish

I'd love to hook a big catfish on that rod. That flexy blank would bend over double lol

With Rapala's or crankbaits, I remove the front treble hook and replace the rear treble hook with a siwash hook from Gamakatsu. It hasn't seemed to hurt my hookup ratio much. (Or if it has, I haven't noticed.)
I recognize doing this isn't for everyone, but I've been hooked a few times with trebles and don't want it to happen again.
Something to consider if you don't like treble hooks.

Great idea! I have split ring pliers so I think it would be easy enough. Thanks for the tip!

I have been looking at Rosewood ultralight spinning rod, they have a switchy action like the Eagle claw.

Thanks! It's a cool rod! Feels like something from the 70s all floppy but it loads up nicely and is super tough.
Saw a video where a guy lifted a 30 pound barbell with one and it didn't break

I still own a 4 1/2 ft, 1 piece Eagle Claw Ultra Featherlight that I bought around 1981. I put a 40 yr old Shimano MLZ10 ultralight reel on it and used it this spring...caught a 27" rockfish (striper) on it: KAYAK ROCKFISHING WITH 4 1/2 FT ULTRA FEATHER LIGHT ROD!! MUST SEE!! czcams.com/video/Yp2DkapUXHg/video.html

Featherlight is garbage, way too weak of a shaft. Wobbly tip sucks.
