      OSRandom when I went to Hong Kong we liked shopping around the ladies market, we purchased things like chop stick sets and chop stick holders (the ones you put on table
      I can't remember the name). I found the phrase "唔該,呢個幾多錢呀?" very useful.

    I have to mention, this video helped me the most on my recent trip to HK. My biggest problem was after using these phrases, they would talk to me very quickly in Cantonese because they thought I was fluent. I'm not quite up to that standard yet, so I had to tell them 'ngo sik gong yut di guongdong wa' and we all had a laugh about it. Thank you Cherry for making my experience better with your lessons. I have a suggestion for a new video: How to top up your Octopus card using Cantonese. 🐙

      erm...when talking to your family/close friends, it's okay to omit it. ^ ^
      But to storeowners/sales, we usually say "cing man" or "m goi" before asking,
      otherwise, that would be a bit rude >.

      Just say you'd rather not reveal your age. You don't need to make up something false. Also, if you don't want to buy something, it's better to be more direct than to say "NGO jeun tao fan lai", unless you are actually going to come back.

    • @nelsoncheng4638
      @nelsoncheng4638 Před 7 lety

      By the way, do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? I understand that your videos are fun and don't address serious topics like life and death. But if I don't tell you this, probably nobody on CZcams will tell you. You need to be saved from your sins. The Bible says,
      And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, (Hebrews 9:27)
      "Repent, and believe in the gospel." (Mark 1:15b)
      "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
      that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9)
      For "whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Romans 10:13)

    返嚟 = faan1 lai4

    • @rokkst4rr
      @rokkst4rr Před 7 lety +1

      Additionally, 呀 is aa3. This final particle has no meaning but is used as a question ending particle to soften the feeling. 吖 aa1 would not make sense at the end of a question as it can only be used in statements.

      Actually 呢個 should be pronounced as 'nei1 go3', while 'ni1 go3' is kind of a lazy pronunciation. 'jau5 mou5' should be 有冇 because 無 is mou4 in Cantonese.

    • @rokkst4rr
      @rokkst4rr Před 7 lety

      My corrections are based on Cherry's pronunciation. She says ni1 and mou5 so I have limited my corrections to this. You can debate 冇 vs 無 but she used 無, which is commonly used in Hong Kong.
