Rare Beer Club: Gotlandsdricka by Jester King

- I finally got around to the other beer from my Rare Beer Club Unboxing at The Beer Shed. If you missed that video you can check it out here: • Rare Beer Club: Snakes... Back tot he beer. As I said this is the other beer that was in my Rare Beer Club shipment and this beer is called Gotlandsdricka. This beer is by Jester King out of Austin Texas. Gotlandsdricka is a regional style of beer from the Gotland area of Sweden. It is a farmhouse bases beer that incorporates different ingredients depending on what the brewer has available. Jester King's version uses Smoked Malt, Juniper and Myrica Gale. I had no idea what color to expect the beer to be so I was somewhat surprised to see it pour out a cloudy pale yellow with a thick eggshell white head. The nose was fruity, funky and I hat to say it... horse blanket. Lots of wild fruits and a little bit of smoke. The body was effervescent and medium. The flavors were super complex. There is a lot going on in this beer. It was smoky, hoppy, fruity, tart and even had a little bit of juniper in it. The flavors came in waves and danced on the palette. The flavors constantly change in the mouth almost giving a new experience with every mouthful. The 6.4% abv was not noticeable at all. This beer was great but its not for the faint of heart. If you are looking for a robust, complex, thinking experience while drinking a beer, definitely check this out if you can find it.

I really enjoy it. They send beers I would never find.
Never had anything from Jester King, but always wanted to try their Black Metal Stout. It became a soured stout years ago, would of loved to try it before that.
It is still a great beer from what I remember. I don't think I have had a bad beer from Jester King. Cheers!
Jester King seems really good. Think snakes in a barrel is the video that i tripped and messed my toe up after filming…lol. Sounds like an amazing beer!

Horse blanket funk. Ya, might have to pass on this one. The farmhouse style beers dont always agree with my palate. (Although that smokeyness may help) Thankfully, it's rare, and I probably won't buy it by accident lol. Glad you enjoyed it. Cheers!!
