- This is my first time ever cooking Filipino food ⇩⇩Click ‘show more’⇩⇩
For those of you who are new to the channel, my name is Lana Tiare I am from New Zealand, and I’ve been travelling the world for a little over two years now. At the beginning of my travels, before I actually started Vlogging, I visited the Philippines with one of my best friends Charles, staying at his home town, Zambales. I was fortunate enough to experience Filipino culture and food first hand. This is definitely an experience I will never forget.
So in the hopes to share some of my food experiences from these travels today, I will be attempting to make one of the most famous Filipino dishes Adobo chicken and Tortang Talong (AKA eggplant omelette) one of my favourites from this trip.
Here are the recipes I used in the video:
Adobo Chicken: pin.it/4Xpcish
Tortang Talong: pin.it/5p0RuHA
I hope you enjoy it! And if you attempt to make these as well let me know how you go!

Benito Morga Yes true! My Instagram name is ‘Lana Tiare’ 😊.
@@LanaTiare okay got it.
you are on the right path cooking adobo.Main ingredients is vinegar and soya sauce, garlic and bay leag. You can use beef, pork and fish.many twist you can do and option to put in adobo like hard boil egg and potato. good job nothing to worry with all the twist in adobo
Egg and potato sounds tasty! Thanks for the advice! I’m going to try these next time I cook adobo 😊.
for eggplant omelet the easiest way place it in microwave for 10 minutes to make it soft and you could use tuna flakes or mince pork, chicken or beef.make it easy to prepare you dont need to copy tradition you can twist and improve it in easiest and nutritous way
We don’t have a microwave unfortunately, but that’s a great tip. I would love to try with the chicken or tuna too!
In love with Philippines 😍
I am too!! Have you visited The Philippines 🇵🇭 before? 😄

Sooo cool these cooking videos Lana! Some of us don’t really feel like watching travel content right now during quarantine. So this is a great way to keep us engaged and exploring different cultures thorough your eyes. 🥇. We wonder what are you going to cook next gurl!? 😜 Ps: Philippinos are indeed one of the kindest, cutest people out there! Glad you got to visit ❤️
Aloha Vagabond Hello!! Thank you so much! Cooking new foods is definitely the best way to feel like I’m still experiencing new cultures right now 😄🙌🏼. We love The Philippines 🥰🇵🇭❤️. The people there really are so sweet and kind!

PINOY FOOD FOR THE WIN
Thanks for sharing this with us!
really enjoyed watching this
Thank you! What's your favourite Pinoy dish? ☺
as long as you got the basic ingredients of adobo, you'll be fine. ^_^ the best way to peel is by hands. A variation of Tortang Talong is mixed in ground pork on side of the eggplant.
Thanks for the tips! Pork with Tortang Talong sounds delicious 😋. What are some other yummy Filipino dishes I could make?
Chicken adobo 🤩🙌 that's so cool you got to visit Philippines with your bestie, that would've been such a great local experience 🙂❤️ Your adobo looks yummm 👍👍 Haven't had that egg plant dish before.. good job Carlos with the peeling 😁👍 Well done on your dishes! We love Filipino food 🤤💕 Stay safe guys, looking forward to the next dish 🙂❤️
Peter and Yen Yay! That was my first time actually trying Adobo surprisingly 😅. Yes, we had the best time there, I can’t wait to go back, there’s so much to do in The Philippines 🇵🇭. Haha Carlos basically did everything for my Tortang Talong 😂😅. We love their food too! Hope you guys are taking care too! 😊😊
Nice vlog lana. Love the dress and the effort you put in to making quality videos. Glad to see you are both ok
Hello John! Thank you, we hope you and your family are doing well in NZ 😄.
@@LanaTiare yes we are all fine here. Had enough of been shut up but thats life. Good to hear from you
Wow. Very good!
Thank you ☺️☺️
You did it great. so Yummy
I would suggest Pork Sininggang for your nest cooking blog.
Thank you!! If we can find some pork at the supermarket here in Turkey 🇹🇷 I’ll definitely try and make it 😄🙌🏼. Where about are you from?
@@LanaTiare Hello Lara, I'm your new friend here from the Philippines.
Oliver's Kitchenette oh nice!!! Hello and nice to meet you! 🇵🇭🇵🇭 😊😊
Tortang Talong with ketchup is one of my favorites. I'm coming over so we can have a potluck.
Oh yummy! Ketchup sounds good 😄.
yes im sure as well that there's a hint of sweetness because of the white onions u put. i love what you cooked :)
AshleyK G-Gamer I love the onions In Adobo! Didn’t have to add any sugar 😆. Thanks so much for watching! ☺️ What do you recommend I make next time I cook Filipino food? 😄
i recommend tinola, very easy recipe, many tutorial here in youtube :)
Ohh nice! I’m going to look it up now! Thank you 🙏😊😊
Great cooking video. The eggplant fritter looked interesting 🧐. Can’t wait for some more recipes. Xx
Michelle Brannon Thank you!! The Tortang Talong (Eggplant omelette) has to be my favourite 😋.
Oww I love Chicken Adobo! And you made it from scratch, awesome! We usually cook it using the ready to cook spices bough from Filipino groceries 😁 and never tried tortang talong before, we love egg plants so we will definitely love it! Awesome that you also had a chance the local foods and culture at your friends hometown. 😁
AnS Episodes Oh nice! I wish they had a Filipino grocery store here I’d buy many things haha. Eggplants are so great, I love the Filipino version 😄. Yes, that was such an awesome experience staying in a local neighbourhood. I can’t wait to go back. Have you guys visited The Philippines before?
@@LanaTiare No we haven't but we'd love to, hoping someday! :)
Yes for sure. Hopefully when everything calms down you will get the chance to visit. I hope you guys are staying safe in Australia 🇦🇺😊.

Lana Tiare it is! 😊
woow, Great content, you deserve more views. I will love to be your CZcams friend
Hello, nice to meet you. Thanks so much! Where in the world are you from? 😀
A different way of cooking adobo! And the tortang talong, we usually grill the eggplant . . Looks yummy!😋
Oh that sounds good too! Maybe I’ll have to try that way next time 😄. What’s your favourite Filipino dish?
Lana Tiare Oh I love lechong kamali and Kare-kare 😂.
Gillan Travels Oh I really enjoyed Kare-Kare but I haven’t tried lechong kamali yet 😅.
If you want to make your adobo a little sweet.. Just put a little bit of brown sugar.. 😉 To balance the taste of adobo
Oh thanks! Will have to try this next time I make it ☺️
@@LanaTiare 😊there are also different kinds of adobo here in the 🇵🇭.. You can also try to search "Panlasang pinoy" . Panlasa means taste 😋. He cooked many kinds of pilipino foods..godbless 😉
@@katokorn Oh thank you! I didn’t know that there were different types of adobo. I can’t wait to try and cook them! Thanks for the recommendation 😃🙏
Great content!
Addictive Rain Hello! Thank you! 😄😄
Yuuuuuuum! I think the recipe differs between regions. My mums Cebuano version of adobo looks similar to your result but also very different. Craving mums cooking now. Did you ever get to try lumpia? That's my absolute favourite 🖤
bronwyn dustin Oh true! That’s maybe why it was so hard for me to find just one standard recipe 😅. No, I haven’t 😱. What is it?
@@LanaTiare Again i think even Lumpia differs between regions. But basically it's a fried spring roll except swap all the vege insides for some sort of mince pork mix. its usually accompanied with a sweet and spicy sauce. Drooling just thinking about it haha
Put some ketchop on top of the eggplant.
Thanks for the tip! We’ll try this next time 😊.
looks yummy.hi new subs here.
Benito Morga Hello Benito!! Nice to meet you! Where are you from? 😊
@@LanaTiare hello there i'm from the philippines and i like you cook filipino food i watch the vlog how you cook tortang talong and adobo i like that.
and when covid is over try to come back to the philippines and see a beautiful beach in the philippines boracay and palawan and many more.
Oh nice! Where about in The Philippines are you from? We definitely want to. I’d love to explore more of your beautiful country 😊❤️🇵🇭.
@@LanaTiare yeah! i'm here the city province of SAN JOSE DEL MONTE CITY BULACAN, yeah should come one day. but you come to the philippines when its summer so you can explore more.thank you lana cuz you appreciate the phillippines.
How do you keep moving from country to country? Do you guys usually look for places furnished?
Usually we book through Airbnb it’s the easiest way to find furnished apartments for short term rentals. And sometimes we book through local rental agencies or with a local via expat Facebook groups.
Boiled eggplant on tortang talong, for me it taste bland... It is more tastier for me if the eggplan was cook in grill (like bbq) then peel it... It will taste more delicious...🤤
Oh sounds very yummy! Will definitely have to try cooking it with a bbq next time 😁
I think you forgot to add some oil, because you only mention ,vinegar and soysauce
We cooked it in oil if that still counts 😆.
